Those who laugh when they wish to cry, are brave.

I'm back! Swim season is OVER and speech is here--and speech practice is a joke compared to swim practice. So, I can beta again! I can write again! Oh...wait...that means I have to try and overcome my writer's block so I won't churn out awful chpts like the one I sent Tamaska Forsaken (my beta). Dang it!

But, anyways, yeah, I'm back and swinging, and apologizing to everyone for not giving more warning and especially to prettyinpinkgal, who had to go find another beta because I took so long to respond

Hey, am I the only one who thought that scene last night on NCIS when McGee was wrong about the DNA was amazing?! Go Tony!

CONCERNING...

...religion

Please note that, since people generally give characters beliefs/morals similar to their own, whether they intend to or not, I try to make my characters whose religious affiliation is unknown either Catholic or agnostic. Because then, when my own beliefs leak in, at least I know what the heck I'm talking about. If their religion is known, then I will research it and attempt to present it accurately, but please remember that I'm just silly old Catholic girl and correct me where I'm wrong.

...politics

Once again, it's hard to keep your politics separate from your characters'. I'm fairly conservative, but I do lean left on some issues. When I'm in a good mood, I'm more conservative. When I'm in a bad mood, I'm more liberal. I end up middle of the road, mostly.

...history books

I despise history books, as in text books. In the US, at least, they're normally written by WASPs, male WASPs that are terrified they'll get sued, so they leave out all separations. I mean, I just told you my politics and religion because they help to make up a large part of my worldview and so are reflected in my characters. That goes doubly or triply so for the actions of people historically. I want to know who they were, where they came from, their religion, community, home. It all helps to shape a person, and you can't just walk away from that, however hard you try.

..."wolverine"

Random Person: What's the point of this movie?

Girl: Hugh Jackman without a shirt on!

Guy: Cool explosions and fight scenes.

Random Person: So...there isn't one.

Girl: No, not really.

...shipping

I refuse to budge on Tiva, MatTuon, GeorgeAlanna, BriarSandry, HarryMurphy, Dantana, RWHG, JPLE, RLSB, HitsuKarin, IchiRuki, Dasey, IndyMarion, and Zutara. (unless it's an amazing fic. Then, I'll consider it, but only if it blows my mind and the pairing works seamlessly.)

I also like AlexFiona (from AR), WolfJack (from AR, again), HPGW, NLLL, Tokka, McAbby, Jibbs, Shemily, NaruHina, SasuNaru, SakuLee, and KabuSaku.

...characters

I like rogues. Dashing rogues, actually, with a glimmer of goodness and romanticism hidden under their rough exterior. Not bad boys, necessarily, but they're not exactly good, now are they? As for girls, I like a character that knows her mind and isn't about to let any guy tell her what to do...but at the same time, one of my fav series is WoT. I guess a girl that's independent but listens.

...feminism

You know what? I'm an incredibly independent girl, who hates anyone telling her what to do. I think everyone should be equal but not assimilated. But feminism can be sexist, too, and I don't mind a guy pulling out my chair or buying me dinner. I would never demand it, but it sure is nice to be treated like a lady. And really, going back to the assimilated part, girls are not guys. There are differences. Girls can't do everything guys can do, but guys can't do everything girls can do. We evolved differently. Get over it, and let the nice man hold the damn door.

...Gypsy

is my kitten, and currently my favorite person in the whole wide world.

Mea Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa
Mea Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa

Where's the church, who took the steeple
Religion is in the hands of some crazy-ass people
Television preachers with bad hair and dimples
The god's honest truth is it's not that simple
It's the Buddhist in you, it's the Pagan in me
It's the Muslim in him, she's Catholic ain't she?
It's the born again look its the WASP and the Jew
Tell me what's goin on, I ain't gotta clue!"

-Jimmy Buffet, "Fruitcakes"

Roll with the punches
Play all of his hunches
Made the best of whatever came his way
What he lacked in ambition
He made up with intuition
Plowing straight ahead come what may.

They're tryin' to drink all the punches
They all may lose their lunches
Tryin' to cram lost years into five or six says
Seems that blind ambition erased their intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may.

We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Makin' the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may.
And there's a cowboy in the jungle...

-Jimmy Buffet, "Cowboy In The Jungle"

And, the unofficial WoT theme song (at least in my mind):

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

-Coldplay, "Viva La Vida"

P.S. If you like what I write, you may not like what I read. If you are looking for a story more like mine, try lembas7--one of the few authors with some on my favorites list that writes somewhat similar to me.
