Hello out there! Nice to see someone's visiting my rather inactive profile!
I can best be described as a Mario/Shadow/Earthbound-loving, German-speaking, fiction-writing, computer-savvy nerd who does nothing but sit in front of electronics all day when not in school. Huzzah!

I try to write as much as I can, but with school and my part-time job, it gets kind of hectic on my end. Lots of things, as you probably can tell, are on hiatus and might never be finished...

But nonetheless! Writing fanfics remains one of my favorite things to do in my free time.
Even though I love Mario more than Sonic, I enjoy the Shadow arcs of the blue blur's saga and find that it's easier to write about him than Mario. Shadow's story also helps me explore my darker side, which certainly isn't seen irl...

Chances are, you've seen me most in the "Black Doom" character section of Sonic the Hedgehog fics. Why yes, I'm a big fan of him. What gave you that idea? X'D

So. I've gotten TONS of questions on why I love Black Doom so much. After all, he was in the "horrid abomination" that is Shadow the Hedgehog, he's basically a relentless terrorist, he's an apathetic bastard, and, at first glance, his appearance is...well, let's just say he's not something you see everyday.

[Here comes a longgggg explanation!]

In retrospect, I really can't answer why I take such interest in Doom-sama, but one thing is for sure, he is one helluva villain. And we know so little about him. Think: other than the fact that he's responsible for Shadow's heartbeat, what do we know for sure? Where did he come from? Does he have any parents, any siblings? Was he always a cold-blooded tyrant or was there something life-altering that made him change his ways?

It might be because my pre-established love of Shadow linked me to him. He's the source of Shadow's life, after all, so to whom do I owe the thanks?

The personality traits and relationships of his are both things we as an audience never fully grasp. In character terms, one can either be flat or round--they can act the same to situations or different. Black Doom has a main part backstage in ShtH; all we know is that he's doing something bad, and someone has to stop him--just like any other villain. He has such little roles in the foreground, however--the audience is too focused on Shadow's internal conflicts that we become distracted from him. (Remember, the main goal of the game is to retrieve Shadow's memories, not necessarily end the Black Arms!!)

Thus, whatever Black Doom says in the game, people perceive to be of a flat character. But in reality, if you listen to any of the things he says, they can be viewed as words that may be covering things up. Could it be that the reason Black Doom ridicules Shadow for doing something of not his expectations is because he simply doesn't know how else to react? The rest of his sons were raised in a utopia-like thought environment, wheras Shadow thinks in an "anarchy"-like way. For someone of his own to disobey his orders is unheard of.

When put into a father-like character, Black Doom seems unfitting for the position. But that is, once again, at first glance. Do we ever see him interact by himself with his children? No. Who's to say he's not affectionate or caring for them? Although he sent thousands of them to die in Central City, who's to say that he never felt a pang of guilt afterward?

So the reason Black Doom doesn't appeal to others is probably because of first impressions. And I don't blame them, either; it's definitely hard to get accustomed to his character. But with the unknowns about him, you have so much to work with. It's like he's a shaped canvas, waiting to be painted on.

I think one thing I love about Doomie is that he practically IS Shadow--rather, Shadow is the hedgehog version of Black Doom. They're one in the same. They have so many connections, and that whole mind control biz was just the start of it, I'm sure. The idea of Shadow becoming weak under someone just...woo! It gives me chills XD

Mm, and I support Shadoom. Even though it's touchy because it's, well...incest, it's intriguing. One of those pairings that can't be explained, really...;;
