Author has written 15 stories for Naruto, Bones, House, M.D., CSI: New York, Leverage, NCIS, Harry Potter, Castle, and Mentalist. Hey everyone. Nothing too spectacular about me. I live in Wisconsin. The only good thing about this state is Summerfest. Which leaves me nothing much to do except go to school, read, watch tv, write fanfiction, and draw. Which is basically what my life consists of plus the occasional shopping trip. I am totally addicted to television. I watch probably about roughly 20 shows. I also have pairings that I like for each show. What can I say, I have no life. However, all that tv watching has made me pretty observant and I've become pretty good at reading people. It's a very useful talent. I'm also a manga/anime addict, although I am slowly starting to watch more regular tv. Which doesn't help the current story I am writing, called How the Heck did this Happen?! for Naruto. It's almost finished though and I'm pretty proud of myself. If you're still reading this I congradulate you for getting this far. Here's the important stuff. Shows/Books- Pairings Naruto- naruhina, sasusaku, kakarin, shikatema (Kakashi is my favorite. He's ridiculously awsome.) Bleach- ichiruki, ishiori, uraharaxyoruichi, toshiroxmomo, rangikuxgin, Death Note- no pairings but i love L. Code Geass- lelouchxshirley, kallenxogi (i think thats his name...) Bones- BB!!, Hodgela ( My favorite show!!) House- Huddy!!, Chameron, (Recently started watching this one, its hilarious. House is such an ass, but it's really funny. Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein are awesome.) Grey's Anatomy- merder, izzyxalex, lexixmark, cristinaxowen, kinda addek, i love addison = Heroes- nobody, way too many characters haha Chuck- chuckxsarah CSI:NY- macxstella, dannyxlindsay (I just realized when i started reading CSI NY fanfics that mac and stella's names put together is "smack". It made me laugh. Seriously, how perfect is that?) Burn Notice: michaelxfiona (gotta love the trigger happy ex girlfriend) Psych- shawnxjuliet (this show is histerical) The Closer- brendaxfritz Numb3rs- charliexameda ER- abbyxluca, samxtony, neelaxray, greenexcorday, rossxhathaway, i'm sure i'm forgeting some people; there's so many character's in this show. not sure about Carter, but I love him. Scrubs- JDxelliot, turkxcarla In Plain Sight- maryxmarshall (l LOVE Marshall. He would totally be my best friend.) Leverage- natexsophie, parkerxhardison (This is a new show on TNT, it's awesome so far.) Medium- it's back on! yay! Mentalist- definitely jisbon. I'll probably get around to writing something for this eventually. I found this sentence in a oneshot by FiveRoses that really got my interest. I think it captures the relationship between Jane and Lisbon perfectly. "So, although at times Jane drove Lisbon up the wall, she always found the view up there very interesting." Isn't that so true? NCIS- tiva, tate, jibbs, mcabby. Yes, i'm allowed to like both tate and tiva. At first, I liked tate better, but tiva is definitely growing on me. same kinda weird mixture of bickering and fluffiness. damn rule #12! Castle- beckettxcastle. just started watching this, it's hilarious. I can't wait for season 2! The Good Wife- dammit! another good show that I'm now addicted to! Warehouse 13- petexmyka, scifi shows have never really been my thing, but this one's awesome! Harry Potter- harryxginny, ronxhermione, lupinxtonks, jamesxlily, snapexlily (not quite sure why I like that last one, but I kinda wish Snape got a happy ending) Eragon- eragonxaria His Dark Materials- lyraxwill (these books are so depressing but so good) Yep that's how sad my life is. Not to mention I go on fanfiction almost everyday. I LOVE Bones. best show ever. Its a good mix of science/ crime fighting and the awkward chemistry between the two main characters. Watch one episode and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with House. I have grown to like Huddy. It works. Why? Cause House is an ass, but, when she wants to, Cuddy can be just as much of an ass as he is. And that's when it gets tense. Burn Notice and In Plain Sight are both on USA (that channel always has great shows) and are relatively new. So if you're looking for a good show with an actual PLOT jump on the band wagon. Same goes for Leverage (TNT). And that's right, Twilight is not on that list. I don't know why, I just didn't like it. For all the unrealistic stuff I watch, the vampire romance thing just didn't agree with me. I like drama better. Not "oh I like you and you like me, let's get together." No. Drama is better. It's more like "I like you, but I don't want to tell you because I don't know what you'll say etc. etc." There are infinitely more complications, but at the end of the long road, it works. Which inevitably makes the show/book more fun to watch/read. Plus I just know that the whole Twilight story would never happen, even without the vampire stuff. Sorry girls, it just doesn't work that way. Wow, I can't believe I just wrote all that. Don't yell at me Twilight fangirls. Born and raised Harry Potter junkie here, can't help it. = This little section is for writers who either have no idea what they're doing, or need some friendly fanfiction advice. Or both. Rules for writers 1. Don't EVER put "first story" or "first time writer" or something to that effect in your summaries. Obviously, if this is your first story, nobody's gonna want to read it. Unless you have a really good summary to go with it, and even then, it's not a guarantee that someone will read it. 2. Don't EVER put "I suck at summaries." or something like that in a summary. Again, if you say that, well, let's think. If you suck at summaries, then you're probably not the greatest writer. I understand that they can be tricky, but they are possible to write, if you just give them some thought. Summaries are, in some ways, more important than the actual story. Your summary sells your story; it has to make the reader want to know more and click that title. Put good effort into them. 3. Unless your story is rated M, don't talk about why you rated it what you did. Nobody cares. Unless your mother is looking over your shoulder while you read, it really isn't necessary. If you have a good summary and a good story to go with it, it doesn't matter what the rating is. 4. This one is a choice, but I think that if you say something like "review, or I won't update", it's just really annoying. If you're writing, you're writing because you want to, not for reviews. Yes, reviews are nice, but they are there to give you feedback, not just attention. 5. Always, always, always read over your summaries and chapters before you publish them. Spell check and grammar check are a writer's best friend; use them. Read over what you've written and fix any additional mistakes. I don't know about you guys, but if I see a summary that has bad grammar or spelling, I'll skip over it without another glance. Spelling and grammar might be a pain in the butt, but it's important. Use it to your advantage. 6. I can't say I've seen this mistake too much, but if you have pairings, put them in your summary. It's best to put them at the end, so even if the pairing is one a person doesn't like, they still might read your story because your summary was interesting. Not an occurance that happens often, but every now and then, you'll get hooked on a story that you thought you'd hate. 7. Have an original title. There's been many times where I've clicked on a story simply because the title sounded good. 8. Ask questions or put a short AN at the end of your chapters. If you ask people something about the story, they are more likely to review with their answer. It's good to engage and talk to your readers; you actually might make a friend. 9. Don't ramble on too much in author's notes. I am guilty of this all to often. People want to read your story, so let them read it. If you do have something to say, try to put it at the end. If you put it in the beginning, it probably won't get read because the reader wants to read the story. 10. Don't force yourself to write because your readers want the next chapter. Writing should be something you like to do, having other people read what you've written is just a bonus. If you're stuck, take a break; do something to take your mind off of it and come back later. It doesn't do much good to stare at a computer screen blankly for half an hour. So, if you're a new visitor to my profile, kindly take a look at what I've written. Feedback is appreciated, but not necessary. I hate people who are like "review or I won't keep writing!" Obnoxious. If you are a current reader, check to see if the story is updated. (Not likely, I don't have much time these days.) If it is updated, have at it. If not, wait patiently until it is. Know that I do not abandon my stories. Thanks for Listening. -Amanda UPDATES October 16: So it's currently 10:21, and I just happened to be looking through my profile and was like, "Oh, I haven't put up an update in a really long time. I should probably do that." Mhmm. Let's see, I posted Chapter 13 for W.A. a while ago and I have 6 reviews already, woot! A couple chapters ago the review and hit counts really went up. I'm so glad people are enjoying the story! I jumped for joy when I hit 100 reviews. Sad I know, but hey, it's Friday, and unlike normal people, I'm sitting on my couch writing this. Not, you know, at a party or something. Anywho, I finally posted that fic for Castle and started the From the Journal series with, drum roll, McGee, aka Probieonekenobi! (I laughed for at least three minutes straight when I heard that one, lol.) There will be more fics to come with that plotbunny, but probably not for a while. Updates could start to get slow now; I have major English homework! Curse you, poetry analysis! Lol, night everyone. August 31: Howdy. So, I just posted a couple short ficlets for Leverage, about Sophie and Nate. I totally love them. And the whole graveyard thing at the end of the last episode, omg! So close. But not quite. So of course my muse went into overdrive after that. Worlds Apart is going really well! I can't thank my readers enough; I finally have a respectable amount of reviews to go with the story. That will be updated on Thursday. Chapter 7 already! In other news, school starts tomorrow. NO! Gone are the days of writing for multiple hours just because I don't have anything better to do. sigh. I will try to keep updates regular for WA, at least for a couple of weeks. After that, I can't say. We'll see. I also wrote a oneshot for Castle, which entertained me quite sufficiently for the past couple weeks. Castle is such an idiot sometimes, but it's hilarious. And that's about it, so see ya. | |||||||||
