Welcome, stranger! You have entered the realms of Tsubasa no Ryu, She-with-the-Thousand-Names, currently known as Sylvaine. Feel free to call me either Sylv or Tsubasa. I belong to the species commonly known as homo sapiens sapiens. I like to describe myself as a human sex positive panaffectionate polysensual asexual female-bodied female Pagan. That sentence might give the informed reader quite a few clues about my interests: sexuality (and asexuality), otherkin, religion/spirituality, magic. My other interests include mythology, language, reading and writing. I obsess over the correct use of English and like to think that I am rather proficient at it myself, though sentences like the one three sentences back tend to lead me to question that belief. From my interests you may gather that I am extremely open-minded and rather scholarly. To illustrate the second point: throw me into the world of Harry Potter and you will probably find me sitting in the library all day, reading books about magical theory rather than actually learning spells or battling evil (or good, as the case may be). Both these characteristics are wonderful for writing; however, I also suffer from chronic laziness and procrastination. I tried to combat this by setting up deadlines for myself, which only worked for about half a year or so. The problem is simply that I’d much rather read your story than write mine… it’s much less work. The only thing I really despise is prejudice. What right has anyone to judge another based on assumptions?

My all-time absolute favourite hobby is reading. It has been this way since I was about four and I doubt it will ever change. I have many favourite authors – currently Lauell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series has caught my fancy – but my role model is J. R. R. Tolkien. His writing is amazing and the amount of work he put into creating the languages and cultures and history of Arda is just mind-blowing.

Most of my friends share my interests… the other day a friend and I were sitting on the floor of her living room, poring over her huge dictionary looking for German words that begin with ‘c’ that aren’t derived from English or French or Latin. We had to give up on that, but we had loads of fun anyway. With my other friends I tend to talk about anime, Harry Potter, canon vs. fanon, slash yea or nay… personal problems too, on occasion. Most of all I love shocking them with dirty comments – they’re all still so innocent… it’s like they’ve never been exposed to the internet!

My main genre in reading/writing is adventurous fantasy. I know very few stories that I love that don’t have that fantasy element, and those usually involve some kind of higher being (which many people would consider fantasy, too). I love stories about dark characters or about good characters going bad. Such stories fascinate me for hitherto undiscovered reasons. I try to avoid romance, but I am not above reading it if it’s extremely well-written, regardless of pairing. I used to be a total slah/yaoi fan until that got old so I fell into the moresomes camp, then switched to femslash/yuri until I realised hardly any good femslash stories existed in the fandoms I knew, after which I obsessed for a very, very short time about het before I descended into the dark world of BDSM. By now, nothing much can faze me, but I don’t seek out specific romances anymore either. All I’m interested in is novelty, originality, and fantastic writing. Surely that’s not asking too much? The only thing I really hate is many authors’ tendency to make one of the partners into some girly, cute, innocent, blushing, helpless being looking up at its partner in starry-eyed admiration. It’s even worse when they are the main character. Please – just, please don’t make your characters into spineless weaklings that melt the moment they see their love. That kind of scenario belongs in hormonal teenage romance novels. However, many of my favourites on this site contradict these opinions, for the simple reason that most of them are from when I started reading fanfiction and I haven’t gotten around to ridding my favs of the truly cringe-worthy writing.

Currently my major project is Dark Lords Ascending, please check it out! It’s an epic rewrite of the Harry Potter novels from the point of view of an evil Harry. I know it’s been done before, but hopefully you won’t find all that many clichés in the story. I’ll probably be rewriting the first year once I get to the end of it, since my writing style has evolved quite a bit since I posted the first chapter. Other than that you will find odd little oneshots popping up every once in a while, usually humorous, mostly in the YGO fandom but I occasionally delve into DGM, HP, or Naruto, too.

From EmpyrealFantasy’s profile (I'd put up a link but I don't exactly know how...):

» Anti-overfeminization! «

If you want to write about a man with a character with cherry red pouty lips, a curvaceous figure, and an entrancingly beautiful face that turns all males to goo... WHY ARENT YOU WRITING HET?! What is the point of writing slash or yaoi if you just make one character into a girl? You're making them into girls with penises! If that is what you're looking for, you won't find it here.

» I support equal Yaoi relationships! «

… In fact, I support equal relationships regardless of gender, but this summed up my thoughts on the subject nicely anyway.

~QUOTE OF THE WEEK~

(Because I’m so sure I’ll remember to update this every week…)

“Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I'll fear no evil...Cuz I'm the baddest Motherfucker in the Valley.

Wind to thy wings!
