I'd always been leery of the idea of romantically pairing Professor Snape with anyone, let alone Hermione Granger. Now I shall be happily eating Humble Pie- flavoured Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans for the the rest of my fanfic-reading existence. This story is very cleverly plotted, written in JK Rowling's spirit and preserving the integrity of the characters. It truly feels like reading straight from one of the books and the narrative voice never falters. It offers a discourse on the values of duty, loyalty and redemption. In particular, it is so gentle and fragile on the topic of love( the kind of patient, compassionate love that in my opinion should be the stuff of every successful romance, but the world doesn't appear to agree, as we have things like Twilight being marketed as epics.) One heck of a heartwarming read.
