There seems to be a type of jargon going on in this website, and I've been having trouble grasping onto it. So I decided to make a key on this profile page to help out others who have the same problem. (I saw this key in another user's profile but sadly I did not take much note of the pen name, and I haven't been able to find the profile since. Sigh.)

PWP: A story without plot. Basically just smut. (Also humorously known as 'Plot? What plot?') I don't know what the first P really stands for b/c my e-mail blocks it out with stars.

Flames: a negative comment (not designed to help the writer get better, but usu. to put down their ideas or story)

Het: hetero-relationships (a male and a female romance)

Canon: follows the original anime, book, movie, etc... in terms of plot, setting, relationships and/or characters

Non-canon: does not follow the original story in terms of plot, setting, relationships and/or characters

AU: alternative universe

OC: original character (a character that the writer created and included in their fan fiction)

OOC: out of character

BIC: back in character

Yaoi / Shounen-ai: male homosexual love (also written as MxM: a male and a male relationship). Yaoi tends to be more hardcore, and shounen-ai is the softer form of yaoi. (Generally yaoi would go into the Mature category, while shounen-ai can stay in the T section and lower without any problems.)

Yuri / Shoujo-ai: female homosexual love (also written as FxF: a female and a female relationship) Yuri is the more intense form of shoujo-ai. (While shoujo-ai only goes as far as kissing and hugging, a yuri relationship would go into bed)
