Why do people read fan fiction?

This is a question I recently asked myself and here's the answer I got: I think they read fan fiction because when the last chapter of the manga is over, when the last scene of the anime is over, or the most common: they can't wait for the next chapter or episode, they just can't get enough. Their love of their favorite title leaves them hungry for more.

Another reason they read fan fiction is they may wonder what could have been. There are lots of plot bunnies in every show or manga imaginable. Readers come to us, the fanfiction writers to see for themselves what would have happened. What pairings could have worked out, what if this guy died, what if this guy did this? That's the beauty of fan fiction.

So let's work hard to make this a great place to come and read stories. To all you writers out there, put forth your best and feel proud to call yourself a writer(even if it is only part time).

That's right, every writer has one and don't try to deny it. Mine are a guy named Sam Pyro(A PRETTY GENERIC NAME I KNOW) and his brothers: Garret & Erik. One or more of them will show up in just about every fic I write, be they just extras, just names you randomly hear, or stuff like that. (But word on the street is their all going to star in my mega cross-over fic. Yeah, like that's gonna happen.)

It's Kira versus Pride, Sloth, Envy, Lust, Greed, and Gluttony in another knock down, drag out battle of wits. Oh, and did I mention the world knows about the existance of Death Notes? Would it Really Be So Bad: My first shot at a Love Hina fic. Happens when Motoko is challenged to defeat her sister within a week with the help of Keitaro, else they are forced to marry. Let's see what happens. WILL NOT happen for a while(if ever)...

Failure's Tale: The story of a boy who wishes on a star and makes a deal with the devil (so to speak) to make his life more interesting. A mix of series' all thrown together. Development has begun!(that's a lie)

Megami Tensei(P3): Lately i've been reading more of these and i've gotta say there are quite a few authors with some awesome stories out there. Maybe i should try my hand at one of these...
