The "Yeah, Now THAT'S Freakin' Awesome!" Quote of the Week

This week's quote is from chapter 31 of People Lie, by Nugar. Yes, I know I have quoted Nugar before. But this quote was just too good to pass up. A real gem! Makes me jealous that I didn't think of it. Not that I ever update the one fic I actually bothered to post. (Bad BAD Pickle!) This quote isn't the funniest moment in the chapter. Sasuke's run-in with the parrot beats this by a long shot. But it's really clever, even when it's not within the context of the story.

Here's the quote:

Jiraiya snorted. “Oh, don’t give me that look. Humanity isn’t a cliff you jump over and lose, it’s a slope. A slippery slope, true, but we’re ninja. We can walk on ceilings if we want to.”

Now imagine him saying that after eating a man's finger in order to reanimate a corpse. BWAHAHAHA! That's just not right. He even managed to shock our favorite team of miscreant mercenaries... which if you have read this story then you know that is saying quite a lot.

I want to offer my sincerest apologies to MegaB. I told him that I would be quoting next from his story, Konoha: Naruto's Playground. I promise B-chan, nothing will stand between me and one of your fantastic one-liners when I update this page next week. Promise!

If you have not read the adventure that is K:NP yet, I urge you to do so poste haste! MegaB's story is one of the best on FF. It's original, well written, has tons of humor, and yet is serious in all the right places. It is a great read.

I would also like to invite people who follow MegaB's epic tale to come chat with us in the K:NP Forum. It is a great place filled with wonderful and engaging, if slightly neurotic, people.

Fellow fanfic enthusiasts,

Today is indeed a dark day. Today I have learned a sad yet valuable lesson. The old saying, the best way to catch flies is with honey, is indeed true. The honey in this case was the much loved and ever anticipated Minato/Naruto reunion fic. The fly, well myself of course. I simply can't resist them. But, something happened that I never dreamed would occur. A fic centered on Minato and Naruto kicked my ass and left me to cry and whine on my profile.

Incest?

Seriously? o.O

It was like starting a KakaSaku fic only to find out that the fic was actually centered on Kakashi chasing after Sakura's evil big brother who used to be on Kakashi's ANBU squad until he abandoned the village. Yet somehow Kakashi can't let go of his desire to passionately screw Sakura's evil older brother... despite the fact that Kakashi could never be disloyal to his village. So, he uses the underage Sakura (who also happens to be his student) to fulfill his carnal desires for her pink haired brother Sachimo.

At this point I should be saying something like, "The above mentioned plot is my property. Please do not borrow without my permission."

But the truth is that there is no way in Hell I would ever write a story about that so go ahead and use it. If I stumble across it one day I promise all I will do is laugh until I wet myself.

The point is that I'm mentally scarred (more than usual) and I'm not sure if I will ever again be able to read Minato/Naruto without getting mental images of Daddy/Son love.

Lesson? ALWAYS read the story descriptions.

Lesson learned? HELL YES!

Dear Fellow FanFic Enthusiasts,

Something just occurred to me.

I tend to only put completed stories that I adore on my favorite stories list. (currently 163 fabulous stories on favorites)

Seriously, the stories that are on there and still "in-progress" were only added because they are insanely good.

As in, "HOLY CRAP WHY HAVEN'T YOU BEEN PUBLISHED YET?" good.

But I have literally hundreds on my story alert list from just about every genre out there. Fair warning, there may be a few stories with an immature writing style that I added simply because I wanted to see how the plot would develop. However, most of them are well worth reading, even the ones that are obviously never going to be finished. Sadly, I've only seen two stories that updated after a year+ hiatus. Fortunately, most of them are still long enough to sink your teeth into if you give them a chance; despite being incomplete.

As of June 3, the list has been thoroughly cleaned and updated. I must have gone through a Kaka/Saku phase. You wouldn't believe all of the fics I had on here of that genre that only had 2 chapters! I'd like to apologize now to anyone who found that disturbing. I know I did. It took me two days, but I looked at every story on here and deleted everything that hasn't been updated in 2 years that didn't have at least 6 chapters. There's still some Kaka/Saku on here, but it's of a better quality -- well written with original plots -- like The House of Crows and A Book of Five Rings.
