Author has written 13 stories for Alex Rider, Lord of the Rings, Twilight, and Tokyo Mew Mew. And Star Wars. See my sister Essence of Gold's profile for my co-written fics. Update: My PaiXLettuce competition is judged, and these are the results: Ist place: GypsyxSilent with Rain 2nd place: broadwayobsessedgirl54 with Halloween: A Night of Firsts 3rd place: Another Canticle with For what Ails You All these fics are amazing in their different ways. A three-course shot of awesomness for anybody seeking the PaiXLettuce experience. You are brilliant authors; well done to you all! My Favourite Quotes Some of these are here because they sum up my philosophy of life. Others are just here because they amuse me. And if you knew which were which it might surprise you. 'Come on, it's an adventure, it's good for you.' Bill, Mamma Mia 'The world hates you, life is futile, and we're all going to die. The trick is to remain in denial for as long as possible.' Me 'Why put off till tomorrow what you can avoid doing all together?' Georgia Nicholson by Louise Rennison 'Sometimes you gotta create what you want to be a part of.'Geri Weitzman 'I have not yet learned to joke that way. I think now I never will.' Maria, West Side Story 'What is life without a little sappiness, obsessiveness and uncontrollable giggling?' Me 'I despise guessing games.' Scar, The Lion King 'Show class, have pride and display character. If you do winning takes care of itself.' Coach Paul ''Bear'' Bryant. 'The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what Fiction means.' Miss Prism, The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde 'I anaesthetised myself against the big bad world with large doses of literature.' Hilary McKay 'I'm on Aslan's side even if there's no Aslan to lead it.' Puddleglum, The Silver Chair by C.S Lewis 'The Dead of Midnight is the Noon of thought.' All too true for us insomniacs. From Burnup77's profile 'Something rather interesting happened last night. I slit my throat and my head fell off. Have you seen it anywhere?' Georgia Nicholson 'Don't poke logic-shaped holes in my reasoning!' The Feral Candy Cane 'Rose is going to employ me as her PA when she is grown up and then it will not be cheating, it will be Delegation. We are practising Life Skills.' Kiran to her teacher when caught doing Rose's work, Caddy Ever After. If that doesn't get you to read it I don't know what will. 'Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime, enlighten him further and he opens a chain of seafood restaurants.' Anon And the ultimate for Fanfiction users: 'The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.' Random statement of the day: Don't forget the three Rs of essay writing: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Nyan, I have my music mock in five minutes! What's a sarod? HELP! Everybody go and read 'Wisteria' by Essence of Gold. The atmosphere is mind-zigglingly awesome, but it only has three reviews. Come on, guys, we can do better than that! All TMM fans rally round! Hi, I am a fifteen-year-old girl, I am English, and my education has been put on hold so that I can do my GCSEs. My own personal Copy and Pastes are right at the bottom, so if you get bored please skip through to them. And now, without further ado, allow me to present my profile. Avatar: 'Sea and Sky' by the ever-awesome Essence of Gold. Original image here. I have just recently discovered that the best way to negotiate the status quo is not to hide from it (by being quiet, introverted and studious, qualities that until recently even I thought were natural to me) but to blow it wide open. This is why I have a New year's Resolution to: Be as random and extroverted as I like and terrify everyone with my weirdness!! Things I have done so far: Carried an African drum from the music block to the hall, on my head. Announced: 'I miss Mr McKenna' (my sadistic Scottish ex-form tutor) randomly in the middle of a Latin class. Taken Latin. Called my friend to tell her that I think it would be funny if, in the part of the Twilight film where Edward is showing off his sparkly skin to shimmer sound effects, he said: 'Look, I sparkle in the sun and...wait, I don't make windchime noises!' And turned round to find Emmet playing a set of chimes while the rest of his family stood behind him, laughing their heads off - and for that purpose only. (my sister's idea) Said to my Maths book: 'Aw, don't tell me, man!' (Not intentional) This profile is my one chance to change the world for the better, so here goes. Two words that no-one should have to live without: Pedant:A person who is unnecessarily annoyingly accurate, eg. Bella: So that's it. You won't sleep with me until we're married. Edward: Technically I can't ever sleep with you, Bella. (Note: Vampires cannot sleep) In this scene, Edward is being pedantic. Tautology: When the same thing is said twice, eg. Bella: Your skin is pale white and ice cold. As white is pale by definition, the phrase pale white is a tautology. Books which no-one should have to live without: The Casson series by Hilary McKay. If you don't like Saffy's Angel (book no. 1), skip to Caddy Ever After. This series is one of those rare ones that improve with age. Pure genius masquerading as light humor: The Hiccup Horrendous Haddock series, beginning with How to Train Your Dragon. The story of an unlikely Viking hero and his disobedient dragon. It was a Dark and Stormy Night. Absolutely fantastic hilarious picture book. Books which have woven themselves inextricably into my consciousness: Alex Rider and Lord of the Rings. Both obsessions have got to the point where they can exist independantly of the books. Tragic, I know. The greatest novel I have ever read: Watership Down. It is a 500 page novel...about rabbits. A gripping, original, moving adventure...about rabbits. The guy's a genius. The randomest film I like: The Bionicals Trilogy (there is just something about a Lego figure saying: 'Compassion was always your weakness, brotherrrr.' And The Buzz Lightyear Movie. Seriously, go watch. Experiences everyone should have: Singing a really fantastic piece of music, eg Zadoc the Priest or Old Hundredth, with a huge group of enthusiastic people. Singing is our natural state. We English are sad, restrained beings. Like I said, just trying to change the world for the better here. And while I'm at it, go the The Feral Candy Cane's profile and read Daydream Drabbles, because it's got a chapter written by me. And don't tell me such blatent self-advertising is immoral. That's what profiles are for! As I wrote that, I just got a vision of Shir Khan in The Jungle Book, singing 'That's what friieeeeeends...arrrre foooooore.' Yes, you needed to know. I like blue nail varnish. I play the saxophone. ABBA rock. I cannot begin to list all the famous people I've never heard of, because I've never heard of them. My maths parter and I have conversations about how one day the laws of mathamatics will shift, making 17 a sensible number and people who are bad at maths...good at maths. And destroying life as we know it, says our teacher. My favourite band is Cubismo. They do Latin music. Google them, they are out-of-this-world fab. I wish to form a band, hence my story Band Together. Those guys are in my head all the time, wittering away. My favourites' list is intended as a RECOMMENDATION. If a fic is there, it means that it is GOOD, and you should READ it if you're looking for something to read. At my school I am leading a one-woman campaign against depressing literature. You know, books that nearly always have no plot, the character neither has anything good or finally bad happen to them at the end but just has a kind of epiphany, the author is trying to make you feel guilty etc. Examples are most Carnigie shortlisters, everything by Meg Rosof, Looking for JJ. I particularly hate it when a book has the potential to be good, as in If a Tree falls at Lunch Break, where if the author had only surrendered to the fact that there are only really twelve plots, put in some romance and let the heroine have a go at the cool girls, I would have liked it, whereas instead it just peters out. The fact is that these authors a) cannot think up plots so take refuge in 'sensitive exploration of teenage issues' and b) want to be original so much that they lose sight of the purpose of literature, which is to entertain and provide an escape from life. It is the same in art and music. You get composers saying that they want to get away from the idea that only instruments are musical and all sound is music to them while subtly implying that anyone who disagrees is narrowminded. But in my opinion if you call all sound music, as in Concrete and experimental music, eventually music becomes the new word for sound. Music is a specific type of sound. You can say that all sound is beautiful, but you can't call it music. Look the word up in the dictionary and QED. I also think that there isn't as much skill in cutting a lot of synthetic sounds together to make a track than in learning to play the violin or writing a piece that actually has a tempo and harmonises. And in art people are sticking bits of plastic together in a way that any six-year-old could do and it's in the Tate Modern. Coming back to books, I believe it is harder to think up a plot than a decent characterisation, so depressing authors, experimental musicians and plasic-sticking artists are all hiding under the term 'conceptual' which is allowing them to get away with 0 talent. The work they produce is not pleasing to eye, ear or imagination (not mine, anyway) and it's not even original anymore. I call for a return of the cliche! if you agree, please PM me so that I know I'm not the only one. If you disagree, ditto and I will argue with you. I hate the sneering way that, before I've finished my argument, people say 'oh, you just want it to end happily ever after' (not true) 'and these stories are more REALISTIC.' If you look to the top of my profile you will see two quotes, one by Oscar Wilde and one by Hilary Mckay, which sum up my argument against this. I do not read stories for realism. Also, a lot of the books they call realistic actually paint quite unrealistic pictures of misery (have you ever heard of a ten-year-old bashing in her best friend's head with a rounders bat - Looking for JJ?) And books that are both realistic and happy, such as Saffy's angel and Chick Lit, they won't touch. They just WANT to be miserable. That is the truth. http://www.fanfiction.net/forum/TEAM_JACOB/56096/ Visit this forum, if only to disagree vehemently with it. It needs more posters. Join the Review Revolution! My Favourite Pairings I originally said I wouldn't have one of these on my profile, because I considered them boring and unnecessary, but now I find myself reading other people's avidly, so now I've decided to do one of my own... Alex Rider: Alex/Yassen: I used to be obsessed with this one. I've kinda gone off it a little, but I will still read it and support fics on it...part of the problem with AR is that there's a lack of decent/interesting girls to pair him with. You can choose Sabina, Sabina or a bunch of old people. Sorry, but it's true. Hah. Of course I couldn't just list the pairings like a normal person, I have to turn it into an essay. Ah well, take it or leave it, folks :). Harry Potter: Sirius/Remus: I've never really been into Harry Potter fanfiction. The brief period of liking it that I did have was when I was into this pairing. I'm cool with all the cannon pairings but for me there was no 'great romance' in Harry Potter, no couple I had to ship, so I don't mind authors experimenting and switching round, and Sirius/Remus was the one I decided to ship, because I've always been keen on both of them and it seemed to me that, while marrying Lupin was a great move, JKR should have created a stronger character for the job. LilyXSnape: This is the only couple where I like onesided/unrequited over fluff. The idea of Snape getting with anyone kind of squeams me out, and I've never even read a SnapeXLily fanfic (I don't like to wallow) but I LOVE that JKR made Snape love Lily. I was just going YES YES YES as I read that part. So I agree that Lily should have ended up with James, and I don't read fanfiction on the pairing, but I support the plot-twist. Tokyo Mew Mew KishXIchigo: Yes, I support them like everyone else on this site. Despite everything, at the end I conform. Cheezles. Actually I'm having issues with this couple lately, as in the anime Kish is so SEXIST and basically treats Ichigo as a toy to be won (to Masaya: 'If I win, let me do with Ichigo as I please.') And he's so horrible to Masaya when actually it's Ichigo who's refusing to be with him. But I have been promised that when I read the manga I will ship them all over again. Squee! Must get it for Christmas! PaiXLettuce: I know there are those who will disagree with me on this. I know that there are those who think that Pai should be with Zakuro, and Lettuce with Ryou. I have heard tell that the manga is in fact slightly PaiXZakuro. But none of this will change my love of this pairing. Seriously, I am currently OBSESSED with them. Neither of them is a 'people-person' (I suspect that Pai is actually as shy as Lettuce, though unlike her he conceals it beneath a cold exterior - choose to refuse and all that) but they find that in each other's presence they can begin to relax and blossom. Lettuce challenges Pai's belief that all humans are selfish, while havign him love her would be a major ego-boost for her...I just love thinking how happy it would make her. What I hate about PaiXZakuro is that if Lettuce heard that she and Pai were together, she wouldn't even regret it. She wouldn't even be jealous. She would repress her regret so quickly and thoroughly that she wouldn't even notice it herself, in order to avoid being hurt, and think: 'I am happy for Zakuro-san. SHe deserves a wonderful man like Pai.' NO, LETTUCE! YOU DESERVE PAI! HE BELONGS WITH YOOOOOUUUUU (And BTW, Lettuce, you belong with him. What frightens me most is that Lettuce might not see that Pai is right for her, and prefer Ryou, as she seems to in cannon. As you can see, I take this whole thing waaaaayyyyy too seriously.) PuddingXTart: Goes without saying, really. Alien pairings are awesome! ZakuroXKeiichiro: I think they work. Keiichiro is such a perfect gentleman that he would be deemed acceptable by Zakuro, they are both composed, elegant people. Why not? KishXLettuce: I haven't read much for them, and I definately prefer PaiXLettuce, but I support the theory of this pairing. Lettuce can comfort Kish after his multiple rejections, Kish, while beign an unlikely Prince Charming for Lettuce and might surprise us by being sensitive and gentle and teasing/coaxing her through her shyness, helping her to blossom. A definate hurt/comfor pairing. Mint/Zakuro: I'm not majorly into femslash, and like with SnapeXLily they're nto a pairing I actively seek out on fanfiction, but they're kind of cannon. Maybe more platonic than down and dirty. Zakuro is definately Mint's One True Pairing, but is Mint Zakuro's? Ryou/Keiichiro: Whether as friends or lovers, these two are perfect for each other. There's one scene in the anime where one of them is at the computer (I can't remember which) and the other comes in with two mugs of coffee, and the first turns around saying, in a wonderfully real-life way: 'Ah. Thankyou.' Then the other leans on the first's shoulder and they sip their coffee and frown over the data on the screen. I mean, they are such BFFs. The Mews are annoyed by them, they don't really get them, but it doesn't matter because they live in their own little geeky world and, no matter what, they have each other. You can see them as friends or boyfriends, and I do both, but either way they do have a very close, mutual understanding. Kish/Pai: This is a pairing I've only just begun to consider. I don't see it as either fluffy or long-lasting; sometimes downright abusive, in fact. Pai lusting after Kish, Kish vulnerable after multiple rejections from Ichigo, lock them on a spaceship together sans Tart...it is pretty cool though, what with them being by far the most interesting characters in the series, and I read a fic called 'New Recruit' by Yamamoomoo which, while totally OOC, was both hot and fluffy. I enjoyed it. If you've ever copied and pasted something onto your profile, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you live in your own little world, copy and paste. I have also kindly posted the questions on their own below, so you can copy them without having to delete my answers. 1. Mace Windu 2. Obi-Wan 3. Jasper 4. Bella 5. Qui-Gon 6. Padme 7. Rosalie 8. Carlisle 9. Anakin 10. Edward 11. Jacob 12. Leah 1. Have you ever read a Six/Eleven fic? Do you want to? PadmeXJacob? I don't see why not. Just the sort of thing she would do. 2. Do you think Four is hot? How hot? Bella? Er, no, I am straight. 3. What would happen if Twelve got Eight pregnant? If Leah got Carlisle pregnant? She would leap up crying: 'Hurrah, I'm not a genetic dead end! I defy the laws of nature and biology, but we already knew that.' 4. Can you recall any fics about Nine? Anakin? Crickey, the place is crawling with them. 5. Would Two and Six make a good couple? No. Just...no. Obi-Wan already has Anakin to contend with, he does not need Padme as well. 6. Five/Nine or Five/Ten? Why? Qui-Gon/Edward rather than Qui-Gon/Anakin. Crossovers are more interesting. Why do you think I'm doing the quiz this way? 7. What would happen if Seven walked in on Two and Twelve having sex? If Rosalie walked in on Obi-Wan and Leah having sex she would say something about so-called-Jedi-code-breaker resorting to a dog. Or she might come over all sweet and big-sister-ish. You never know. 9. Is there any such thing as One/Eight fluff? Mace Windu/Carlisle fluff? Lol, Carlisle is such a gentle person, so yes. Please, somebody write that! 10. Suggest a title for a Seven/Twelve hurt/comfort fic. Rosalie/Leah. 'Predjudice Rarely Survives Experience' or some such mush. 12. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw Eleven? Yeah, my sister is (mildly) obsessed with Jacob. 13. Would anyone on your friends list write Two/Four/Five? Obi-WanXBellaXQui-Gon? No, why would they? (noIdon'twanttoknowtheanswerthanksverymuch) 14. If you wrote a Song-fic about Eight, what song would you choose? Carlisle: For the Beauty of the Earth, the John Rutter version. 15. When was the last time you read a fic about Five? Recently. 16. "(1) and (7) are in a happy relationship until (9) runs off with (7). (1), brokenhearted, has a hot one-night stand with (11) and a brief unhappy affair with (12), then follows the wise advice of (5) and finds true love with (3). Mace Windu and Rosalie (oh yes) are in a happy relationship until Anakin runs off with Rosalie (typical). Mace Windu, brokenhearted, has a hot one night stand with Jacob (I can see them together, actually), and a brief unhappy affair with Leah (he likes his werewolves-actually I once read a fic called I'm Sorry Master where he was a werewolf XD), then follows the wise advice of Qui-Gon (but I'm just gonna pretend it's Carlisle) and finds true love with Jasper (snore.) 1. Have you ever read a Six/Eleven fic? Do you want to? 2. Do you think Four is hot? How hot? 3. What would happen if Twelve got Eight pregnant? 4. Can you recall any fics about Nine? 5. Would Two and Six make a good couple? 6. Five/Nine or Five/Ten? Why? 7. What would happen if Seven walked in on Two and Twelve having sex? 9. Is there any such thing as One/Eight fluff? 10. Suggest a title for a Seven/Twelve hurt/comfort fic. 12. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw Eleven? 13. Would anyone on your friends list write Two/Four/Five? 14. If you wrote a Song-fic about Eight, what song would you choose? 15. If you wrote a One/Six/Twelve fic, what would the warning be? 16. When was the last time you read a fic about Five? 17. Crazy is when you stare at a pencil and laugh when someone asks you what you are doing that is so interesting about the eraser. Crazy is when you have an hour-long sob fest, and then start singing and dancing when your favorite song comes on. Crazy is when you do or say a completely random thing, like "Do you ever wonder where the eraser bits go?" or having a thumbwar with yourself. Crazy is when you type up all your favorite sayings, print them off and tape them to your wall, just for something to do. Crazy is when you memorize the complete biographies and physical traits of every character in Twilight (or almost, at least). Crazy is when you write Emmett or Edward Cullen is hot on your homework insted of doing it. Crazy is when you act completly well crazy and make a total fool of yourself and not even care. Crazy is when you dedicate your entire being(every cell in your body) to Twilight, Maximum Ride, and fanfiction. Crazy is when you go on about your favourite pairings on fanfiction and no one has any idea what you are talking about. crazy iz when you shout "YAY" for no apparent reason in the middle of a maths test (soo embarassing by the way - try to resist) Crazy is when you suggest to the cool girls that they come in to school without makeup.
