Greetings welcome to my profile, I write mainly fluff, humour and romance with occassional forays into angst and other types of story. The vast marjority of what I write features Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall since I think they are adorable together. This is where I have a journal devoted to the wonder that is MMADness, it's just somewhere I jot down amusing thoughts or images that don't seem to fit anywhere else. It also has some extra background information for my Albus and Minerva, The Early Years Story. I also put some of my better photos up here.

I'm an ancient and venerable dragon with a tendancy to barbecue people who annoy me, well OK really I'm a 30ish female human who's just recently discovered the wonderful world of Harry Potter fanfics - kinda dull compared to being a dragon really. I write because I love it, I feel the most incredible sense of achievement from writing. Sometimes when I'm lucky inspiration just flows so fast that I can't keep up, I have the most terrible memory and am always forgetting what I've written, which is annoying ! Other times I must force myself to write, then I'm often less pleased with the result. I always used to write poems before, these storys are my first attempts at something different. I'm learning many new techniques, such as putting myself in my characters place, trying to think of times I've felt similar things, then use it to write.

I'm fanatical about my pens, they have to be the right colour, and the right brand, and they have to have the lid on the end, otherwise they feel wrong. If they feel wrong then I can't write with them.

I'm lucky, I guess, in that quite often I will have plenty of time to write, if I can tear myself away from my other interests. Such as recreating Hogwarts in the Sims 2, and getting Dumbledore to chuck water balloons at Minerva. I tend to live in a dream world, Dumbledore is often there with me, sometimes I even imagine having conversations with him. I love his whole grandfatherly thing, his eccentricity. I'm just crazy about wizards I guess, Gandalf, Merlin, Dumbledore I love them all.

My favourite ship by a long way is MMAD (Minerva and Albus), they are just adorable together, perfect, quite clearly made for each other. Lately my mind is full of them, I listen to mushy love songs and see them dancing and laughing in my mind. It was reading all the wonderful MMAD stories on here that got me into Albus and Minerva, turned me into a hopeless romantic. :D Pft to JKR and what she says about Albus being gay, and pft once again. :P

I'm from England, land of grey skies, wind, rain, and general all round dampness. In reality I reside in my own little dream world, peopled with elves, magic, unicorns, dragons, and of course wizards. I walk around with my head in the clouds, or I would if I was taller than 5 foot.

My constant companion is my border terrier called Merry, my other near constant companion is my bloke, who in some ways reminds me of Dumbledore. He will probably die of embarassment if I show him this ...so I won't lol. I adore dogs, and all animals, and am nuts about soccer. Minerva cries over quidditch, I cry over soccer.

I'm not the healthiest of people, so if I seem to take ages updating on occasion then it might well be because I'm feeling too crappy to write. I have various health problems that flare up, and then calm down again, sometimes taking weeks or more before I feel good again. I won't give more detail here, but when affected, my mental energy drops and I just can't write.

I'm endlessly entertained by why the site keeps asking me if I'm human or not, and somewhat concerned, I always thought I was human, but now I'm beginning to wonder if it knows something I don't. :D

Books

Harry Potter Books 1 to 5, for me books 6 and 7, just don't exist in particular book 7. I really hate what Rowling did to Albus Dumbledore in book 7 - the tragic past, the way it is insinuated that he is only using Harry for the greater good, even the scene in Kings Cross just isn't what I would have wanted at all, couldn't he just have given Harry more reassurance ? As for the Prince's Tale, I've read it twice now in depth seeking for some seed of comfort and I still loathe it and just can't make it fit to my image of Dumbledore. Then there are all the other mistakes, errors, and general annoying things in book 7, I could go on forever about it but I won't. Thus I have decided that in my version of the Harry Potter world, books 6 and 7 just do not exist, (my copy of book 7 has been flung in the back of a cupboard there to linger and gather dust for all eternity ). I was vastly inclined to jump up and down on book 7 and pound it into oblivion after first reading it, but I rapidly discovered that this hurt my feet more than it hurt the book.

As for book 6, well I really loved some parts of it, other bits really annoyed me, and since she killed off Dumbledore I just can't accept it as what really happened.

And as for making him gay, well bah and grrrrrr etc, doesn't she know Albus's heart belongs to Minerva.

Doubtless you now realise, if you haven't got bored and gone off to do something more interesting, that I am a massive fan of that kindly, benign, funny, extremely eccentric old mage called Dumbledore. One might say that I am Dumbledore's woman through and through.

Let me state it loud and clear, Albus Dumbledore is NOT dead, nor is he gay. He is Minerva's forever. Nothing anyone says can convince me otherwise. :)

Lord of The Rings, my favourite book of all time, I dream every day of going to Middle Earth. In my view Tolkien was a genius, a truly masterful writer who created the most wondrous mythology for us. Gandalf is just the kind of mage I love, for me Dumbledore as portrayed in the first five books is so much like Gandalf. Why don't I write Lord of the Rings fanfic if I love the book so much ? Well the book is so perfect already that there's nothing I would want to change about it, with Harry Potter there are clearly things I'd like to change, such as JKR killing off so many characters. Grumbles.

Dancers at The End of Time, by Michael Moorcock, a wonderful book, full of humour. It's about the last humans on earth living a life at the end of time which revolves entirely around pleasure, some people say it portrays a very decadent humanity but to me they have a kind of innocence. They are able to change everything about their world and themselves using power rings, they are immortal and use the world as a vast playground. The marjority of their time is spent making their wildest fantasys reality, I just think that would be such an awesome thing to be able to do. They are visited by time travellers and assorted aliens.

Films

Harry Potter, of course. Except film 5, which I just watched, and it infuriated me with it's inaccuracies, bad production, and general disappointing direness. Where were the wonderful humourous scenes from the book ? Why was so much of the film reduced to a mishmash of confusing scenes directed at people with the attention span of a newt ? Then there was the fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore, and the disappointment of the office scene at the end, why did they leave out how Harry trashs Dumbledore's office ? And no tears from Dumbledore either. :( Maggie Smith acts superbly as always in the film, but why was Minerva portrayed as so weak, when she is a strong fiercesome lady, I blame the director/producer. I Hate Film 5, so very very much. :(

Fellowship of The Ring

Flash Gordon,

Mama Mia, oh how I love this film, some scenes just scream MMAness at me, I adore it, and have watched it countless times already.

Surfs Up, simply because it's such a stunning piece of animation and extremely funny. A lovely feel good film.

Actors

Maggie Smith, loved her acting even before the Harry Potter films, she is superb in Prime of Jean Brodie, for example.

Richard Harris, the one true Dumbledore, I love the scene in the first film with Harry in the hospital wing, a perfect portrayal of Dumbledore.

Alan Rickman, again a favourite even before Harry Potter. I reccomend seeing him in Truly Madly Deeply, a lovely romance.

Ian McKellen after seeing his performance in Lord of the Rings, I think he would have made a much better Dumbledore than Michael Gambon, who is all wrong. And to have played the two greatest wizards of all time would be awesome. I can but dream.

Orlando Bloom, gorgous as Legolas, fantastic in Pirates of the Caribbean.

William Shatner, he has slightly camp over acting down to an art form, it takes real talent to over act and get away with it.

Patrick Stewart, plays the role of Captain Picard with such passion, gives fascinating interviews. Started off acting Shakespeare, and it shows, he speaks superbly.

Peter O' Toole brilliant as Lawrence of arabia, and so good in so many other films.

Music

I listen to all types from classics to punk rock, but I can't stand rap, or rave music. Faves are Tom Robinson, Queen, Mike Oldfield, Jean Michel Jarre, and Ewan McColl.

Favourite Harry Potter Characters

Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, Sirius Black, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger.

Least Favourite Characters

Ron Weasley, cos he's too sulky, Umbridge cos she's evil. Peter Pettigrew cos he's just so creepy.

Ships

Albus and Minerva, far and away my favourite ship, and one that will never be sunk.

I really can't think of any others that I would go crazy for, I do read fics with other ships, but nothing touches me like MMAD.

Types of Fics I love

Anything where Dumbledore is a grandfather figure to Harry or other people, or mentors people.

MMAD, obviously, but prefer happy endings.

I always appreciate it if people suggest good fics to me, so if you know of any let me know please.

Stories I'm working on

Through Dumbledore's Eyes

Now Complete.

This story is now complete, it took a year or so, but I finished it, the longest story I've ever written. :) It was a labour of love, and at times hate, when I just wanted to give up on it.

It's set just after Harry is left with the Dursleys, it is very much about Minerva and Albus. It is about the impact that loosing James and Lily, and Albus's decision to send Harry away, has on them both and on their relationship. Both Albus and Minerva miss Harry horribly, he's like a grandson to them. Minerva does not agree with Albus's decision, can she change his mind ? Voldemort might be gone, but his evil still has an impact on people, can love and friendship survive ?

I try to have a wide variety of emotions in this story, I think it would be very dull or depressing if it was 20 or 30 chapters of nothing but angst for example. So there is romance, humour, sadness, anger, light and dark times. This story is the one I'm most focused on, I try my best to make every chapter the best it can be. This story will not be abandoned, it will be finished.

Sometimes it's told from Dumbledore's point of view, other times from Minerva's point of view.

Albus and Minerva, The Early Years

Prologue and First Two Chapters Published, more to come.

Starts when Minerva goes to Hogwarts age 11, from the first moment, when she commands the sorting hat to put her into Gryffindor, it's clear that Minerva Mcgonagall is an incredibly courageous, fiery, determined girl. In the eyes of Armando Dippet, and many of the other professors, she's trouble, only Albus Dumbledore sees the potential in the wild girl from the Scottish Highlands. Note this description may change as ideas evolve and change.

The story will follow the developing relationship between Albus and Minerva, from their first meeting, through her school years, and beyond. How does her mentor, her friend, eventually become the love of her life ? Note, nothing happens between them untill she is of age, probably not untill she's left Hogwarts, since I just feel this is the way I wish to write it. I may divide the story into two parts, with the first part covering untill Minerva leaves Hogwarts, and the second part covering what happens after that.

This story will focus very much on comedy and humour, it will be lighter and less angsty than Dumbledore's eyes. There may be some sad scenes, and there will be things other than humour. Her first year will be lots of humour, lightweight, with tender human moments too. Her hair ribbon will be very important through all seven years lol. Oh, and I have the final chapter of year seven written, well planned. Weird way to write lol.

Descent

Two chapters Published so far.

Set a few weeks after Albus Dumbledore falls from the astronomy tower at the end of Half Blood Prince. With Albus seemingly dead and gone Minerva must face her darkest demons, her hidden fears and overcome them. Old friends will seem to betray her, those she thought of as enemies will need to be trusted if she is to succeed. Strange occurances, as the worlds of nightmare and reality seem to merge will push her to brink, as all her legendary strength and determination is called upon. Minerva must seek and find the truth of what happened that fateful day when Albus fell from the tower.

I started this story as a challenge to myself in writing in a different style to normal, the initial chapters were born of pure instinct, a glance at a twilight moon. I'm working hard to write this story as beautifully, as evocatively as I can.

Finally thanks to everyone who reviews my stories, reviews are very wonderful things to have, it gives authors a lift and inspires us to keep going. So please review. (Argh evil typos, not gives authors a life, a lift, argh. I have a life, it may be chaos but it's all mine, cue insane laugh. :D )

I try to review everything I read, unless exhausted, see bit above about health problems, which make me struggle for energy at times. I think reviews are the greatest reward we can give to writers. :)
