My name’s Emma, though I also answer to Emmy and Em so feel free to take your pick. I’m a stubborn, cynical and, so I’ve been told, quirky south east Queenslander. And yes, for those who lack basic geographic skills and a general awareness of this planet we happen to all share, that’s in Australia. And no, for those who watch way too many bad movies made by people who seemed surprised by the revelation presented in the previous sentence, I don’t wear a cork hat or ride a kangaroo. Ever. I have two "modes", for lack of a better word: bull-at-a-gate or water-off-a-duck's-back. Both are apparently flawed ways of living my life, but it sure makes things interesting. Being your not-so-average teenage girl, I baulk at shopping trips; determine my day’s wardrobe selection based on relative cleanliness of various pieces of clothing and functionality rather than colour and current trends; make a pinchy, “Why are you picking on me?” face when invited to most social outings; have an extensive collection of books with none of them involving crappy teen romances and gag-worthy, completely unrealistic dialogue; and have short, barked conversations on the phone only when absolutely necessary (i.e. life or death situations, and even then I may have to be convinced). So how do I fill my time if I'm not obsessing endlessly over my hair, make-up, clothes, other trivial junk? Well scroll down a little way and you'll find a partial answer. I read, write (both fanfiction and original stuff), spend time with my pets and try to get to the beach as much as possible given the fact that I can't drive myself there and am forced to endure six hours of torture for five of the seven days contained in a week; yeah, I'm not too fond of school. I love complicated plots, characters you can relate to, believable dialogue, more drama than you can poke a stick at and writing away from mainstream and current "trends". Chances are you'll find all that and more (hopefully) in my writing, but more so in my newer projects. The temptation to remove my first few fics from this site, my computer, my memory and this planet is so huge it can't be measured, but I resist purely to make sure I'm constantly reminded of how I can only ever get better. So yeah- maybe avoid my earlier fics. On a side note, I am completely addicted to yWriter5. Seriously, go Google and download it. It's free, it won't stuff up your computer and it's amazing for planning and organising stories. I would be lost without it. | |||||||||||||||
