Author has written 1 story for Digimon.

If you've stumbled across my profile it's likely because you've read and enjoyed my Digimon fanfic "Illusory Memories." Welcome!

November 26th, 2008 Update

Other than my involvement in a certain Digimon game, I haven't really gotten back around into the Digimon mood necessary to write "Reboot" (the sequel to "Illusory Memories"). I've also had quite a bit of trouble keeping myself writing each day (via role playing), let alone building the necessary motivation to tackle another fanfic of any sort. I'm in much more of a gamer mood at the moment (I've posted two Let's Plays on YouTube).

Post-"Illusory Memories" Plans

7.11.08: I'll be posting the fourteenth and final chapter of "Illusory Memories" shortly, and it doesn't seem proper to explain my current plans in the postscript there. Initially, I never expected to actually make progress on "Illusory Memories" (let alone finish it), and I'm very proud of myself for that accomplishment. However, novel writing is exhausting for me, and it's impossible to maintain solid concentration for more than three months at a time (if that long). Those of you that followed "Illusory Memories" as it was being published will recall the delay before Chapter 8 as well as the delays on Chapters 13 and 14.

As I said in postscript, I have no plans at this time to write Part 2. That's not to say I don't have the plot in mind (I do have a vague outline, as well as a few specific scenes planned), but delving into another project that's likely to be comparably long to "Illusory Memories" isn't something I have the energy (or the motivation) for right now. There was also a period while writing "Illusory Memories" where I was wanting to write a Beast Wars fanfic, and it's incredibly distracting to be writing one story while wanting to write another. I can't really say at this point what the future holds for me, but I highly doubt I'll be publishing anything before the summer ends.

I've also been very self-conscious about my current writing style. Most of it was derived from my role playing style (which has a very different approach from novel writing), and I'm noticing that my style is more suited to screen-writing than it is to novel writing. I tried to improve before the end of "Illusory Memories," but I still haven't found the best direction to take. It's very possible that if I publish a new story that it will be in a different style from "Illusory Memories."

Background

So I'll talk a little about Digimon first. I started watching it fairly early on (if not at the beginning), and fell in love with it (apparently being one of rare people that enjoyed it as well as Pokemon). The Myotismon arc was amazing. The Zero Two dub aired, but I lost interest at the first Dark Ocean episode. I ended up watching Tamers (which I enjoyed). Aside from episodes I'd recorded when I was younger (late Myotismon arc through the first Dark Ocean episode), I didn't think much about Digimon after Tamers beyond the occasional video game.

In Spring of 2007, for whatever reason, I rewatched Adveture through Tamers in their entirety. Now, the specific parts that were my favorite was the Myotismon arc through the episode in Adventure 02 where Daisuke and Ken have their soccer game (the concept of Daisuke being able to trip Ken, a "perfect" human being, was done flawlessly). The rest wasn't bad, but it just wasn't very good. Tamers was solid until the episode where Renamon evolved and Rika's personality took a 180. I've also been watching subs of Adventure as I've been able to get my hands on them. Recently I watched Frontier. Other than the "humans becoming Digimon" problem (which is a big one), there's really no other major flaw (and that's more than can be said for Zero Two). I also watched the Data Squad (Savers) dub. If not for the Royal Knights arc, it might have been a better season than Adventure.

I enjoy writing, but I'm also a gamer, and I have a tendency to be deeply engrossed in one project or another at a given time.

It's possible that I might someday write a Yu-Gi-Oh!, Beast Wars, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fanfic. I also enjoyed Gargoyles (by Disney) and Animorphs, but it's not likely I'll ever write anything for those two. I want to write a Gossip Girl fanfic, but I don't feel I have enough knowledge about NYC to pull it off successfully (and the moment is long past for the plot I had in mind). I wrote two and a half Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfics years ago (the half being an unfinished fanfic), but they were all original characters (I'm really not used to that term: my role playing background makes me want to say "made-ups"), and I don't think it would be appropriate to put them up here. There's always a slim chance I would use the premise designed for them, but... well, we'll see what the future holds.

As far as video games go, role playing games tend to be my preference. With books, Orson Scott Card (the Ender series and the Bean series) and Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time series) are the best writers ever, and H. P. Lovecraft owns the Horror genre.
