The name Ceredwen (actually spelled Ceridwen but, well someone already had that) comes from one of my favorite childhood stories. I had a book with folk tales from around the world, dear Ceridwen had to share pages with the likes of Baba Yaga. Ceridwen brewed a potion that granted wisdom in the first three drops, her servant Gwyon Bach was scalded by the potion. He instinctually stuck his finger in his mouth to sooth it and injested it. Ceridwen flew into a rage and tried to kill him. To escape her Gwyon turned into a hare, Ceridwen gave chase as a greyhound. Gwyon shifted to a salmon, Ceridwen an otter. Gwyon changed to a bird, Ceridwen a hawk. In the last transformation Gwyon changed to a seed, as a hen Ceridwen ate him and became pregnant. She gave birth to a reincarnated Gwyon Bach who became known as Taliesin. In some tales the name Taliesin is interchangeable with Merlin.
