"I don't believe in the no-win scenario." ~ James T. Kirk, Star Trek 2009

So, you've found my little corner of the Internet? Welcome! Do come in and take a look around.

If you're here I'm guessing you want to know a little bit more about me? Am I right? Or maybe you want to check out my stories? Well, the stories are down at the bottom, but you probably all know that, right?

Some of you, I’m guessing, might be here to learn more about me? Well, my name's Paula and I'm a Scottish fifteen year old. I live in the North-East and I love it up here. You may have heard about our lack of glorious sunshine? Well. Yeah. But it's not that bad really! Not all the time... Anyway I play the clarinet, a bit of keyboard and I’m trying to learn the fife! As you might have guessed, I adore Music. I go to lots of music groups (two concert bands, an orchestra, clarinet choir, singers, and music theory if you're interested!) and I love it. I just finished I got an A in Intermediate Two Music at school and am sitting Higher this year. When I'm writing I listen to a lot of music because I think they go so well together. Even when I’m reading, I’ll listen to a song that fits the mood of the story.

I don't believe in creating boundaries of reality, because after all, boundaries can be so easily broken. Fiction is as much a part of reality as physical matter. Where would the world be without a good story? I've always loved writing and I find that it gives me somewhere to escape to when ever I want. We live in a society where everything has to be proven by science leaving little room for imagination but there’s so much to be said for an imagination. I spend a lot of time imagining and making things happen however I like in stories which is probably why I struggled so much with Maths. What is this? Logical? Wha-?!

I consider you all friends on here. So, be nice to me and I'll be nice to you. Special mentions to the RRA gang - Lady Clark, Zebbie, Foxy , Mira, Deannie, Cee, Keepress, Soapy, Josie, Vicky, Voldy, Mysty, Lollzie and Maple.

MY WRITING

I write because I enjoy it and because I want to make people happy and give them something to enjoy just to make life a little better. I'm not saying that my stories are "the cure to all the world's misfortunes" but I do my best.

A lot of my stories aren't what you could call consistently happy. I don't really do fluff and when I do it usually comes as a shock to some of my friends on here. It stands to reason that most of my fluffy things are one-shots. My stories are often angst filled and the morbidly depressing. I try hard to write things with a happy ending now and then and sometimes I surprise myself and it turns out all right for my victims (ahem... characters) but more than often it doesn't. Those of you who read But I Love Her know that I can struggle to make romances last - although in Doves it actually worked out for them believe it or not and also in my more recent story Steps Into The Unknown.

A while ago I read over my first FanFiction, In The Wrong Place, and I was amazed at how I'd grown up since then! The whole way I wrote seemed so young and silly compared to what I do now. It just shows how much you can learn from other people and experiences. I've even seen a noticeable difference in my English grades over the last two years. Thank you to all reviewers who offer constructive criticism and encouragement!

Shipping? Is Paula545 a shipper? Hell yeah! I can be quite vocal about my choice of pairing if I’m told they suck. I do occasionally try new pairings and I’m not shippy to the point where I won’t read something because of the pairing, but I do sometimes struggle to write for a pairing I don’t like.

As for updates, I'm not going to lie. Sometimes my updates can take a while; especially when I have a lot on. I usually find time at some point so it's not like you'll be waiting for months. As much as I hate to say it, homework and exams has to take priority and then sometimes I just can’t bring myself to write anything. I’m sure we all have those days though.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. I am a hypocrite. I really am. I can quite cheerfully (well, not cheerfully but you know what I mean) kill off characters in my stories and then if said character gets killed in the book/series/film/another FF and I get all upset. I was gutted when Marian died in Robin Hood BBC and I actually did something frighteningly similar in one of my stories before that episode was even aired! So there you go! A little about my writing.

FANDOMS

In the pairings bit, I've taken the liberty of posting a link to a story that has that pairing in particular. Some stories might only have a vague mention of that pairing, but still. Enjoy

TV SHOWS - Robin Hood BBC

I'm reeling after the events of the series three finale. I won't say what for those of you who've not seen the episode but those of you who have will understand what I mean, right? I really love the show and while I'm gutted about what happened, I'm also glad it happened that way and the way it did because if it had been any more painful I'd have been even more upset. I love the show. I think it's awesome. It's what really sparked off my love for FanFiction - I just started getting more and more obsessed as time went by. Series three has nearly late for registration because I was discussing the new episodes with a friend in the corridor. Unfortunately due to real life things like exams (cue massive sigh from everyone in the world) something had to give so I couldn't write as much fiction as I'd like for Robin Hood but hey. School's out for the summer soon and I'll have more time on my hands.

I think the cast of Robin Hood are really great and the story lines are convincing even if I don't always like what they've done. Seriously, I love the BBC but sometimes I do wonder if they're trying to break my heart. Nearly all the shows I watch are on the Beeb so I have various things against them but I actually adore them - no matter how much I say I hate them. As for the music accompanying Robin Hood, well, what can I say? It's fantastic. I really find things like that interesting.

One time back in third year I had to watch this video about the brain in Biology and the narrator sounded so much like Richard Armitage it was scary (it wasn't him though, I watched the credits!) You know the way Gizzy speaks when he's angry? This was not long after the Christmas holidays and the series two finale so I was pretty annoyed at Guy and that video really creeped me out. The odd thing is the day before that a man that looked so much like Keith Allen drove down my street when I was walking my dog.

Pairings:

OTP: Robin/Marian (I love this. At times I didn't like Marian because she was messing both Robin and Guy around but the moments between Guy and Robin... Man, they were fantastic). See: Being Watched)

Djaq/Will (They're cute and I love them together! The show isn't the same without them.) See: I Want To Worry About You

Djaq/Allan (I'm not a fixed Djaq/Will shipper. I think Allan's amazing, even after series two. What happened to him in series three was heartbreaking. I cried.)

Marian/Guy (I dislike "Gizzy," I really hate him but I love writing and watching Guy/Marian. Poor Robin though. Guy is just one of those people you can see another side to and you love to hate him anyway! I must add though, I loved the last few episodes of the third series after they learnt about Archer. Robin and Guy were good together!) See: For The Love Of A Woman

Much/Eve (Yeah, not much to say on this subject. Much is adorable, he says the stupidest things sometimes but he's ace. As for Eve? Well she's a character. Topic closed.) See: What About Me?

Robin/Much (Friendship only. Robin/Much romance; don't go there, not with me anyway. I'll read it anyway but still, they're more like brothers.) See: One Day At Nottingham City

Allan/Will (Friendship. They're like brothers! Although... I have read some really good romance.)

Guy/Robin (They hate each other. It's only right that I write fiction about them hating each other! Guy/Robin romance is not strictly out because I've read some good ones, but it is definitely not something I'd write myself, unless specifically asked to.)

Vaisey/Guy (I just had to mention Sheriff Vaisey! Not as a pairing really but because I love to see the Sheriff boss "Gizzy" around!)

TV SHOWS – Doctor Who

Doctor Who was my first ever TV Show addiction. It’s brilliant; such great storylines and interesting characters that work on more than one level. And the Doctor's not a "flawless superhero"; he has his problems. While I'm not a really big "Bring Back Rose" person, I think she was a great character and I loved her with the Doctor. However I think Martha (a.k.a Freema Agyman) was really good and it was annoying how some people wouldn’t give her a chance because she wasn’t Rose. The end of series four was breath-taking but, in all honesty, I wasn't left in as much shock as I was with series three. But it was amazing! It really was a stunning piece of work!

Also, the sound tracks for Doctor Who are epic! I love the music. I just find things like that fascinating. In fact, Murray Gold was my inspiration for my composition in Int2 Music – his ability to tell and emphasise a story through the use of music is fabulous.

Pairings:

OTP: Rose/10 (They were such a great team. I cried when she left, it was so upsetting! But the finale of series four was pretty good I guess, but it was still really sad for the Doctor.) See: Lost, Found And Broken Beyond Repair

Martha/10 (Martha's brilliant and should be given a chance!) See: Learning To Walk Again

Donna/10 (…No. Not romantically. It was a really good friendship and I loved Donna’s character and was gutted by her fate at the end of the fourth series.)

Jack/10 (Dammit, no! I know Jack loves the Doctor but I think he values his friendship too much to turn it into a relationship and besides, the Doctor wouldn’t have it that way.) See: A Doctor’s Touch

Master/Doctor (That was really interesting! I liked seeing the Doctor and Master feuding! The guy that plays Professor Yana is in The Golden Compass movie!) See: Steps Into The Unknown

TV SHOWS – Torchwood

Torchwood is fantastic! I bloody love it! I think the characters are superb and the story lines are fantastic. The whole series is so alive. Bit gruesome at times and I admit to being freaked by some of it especially Countrycide and Children of the Earth – which, by the way, was epic and terrible at the same time. I don’t think I’ve ever cried that much at a TV show. One time I was left on my own after watching Torchwood and hell was I paranoid! It happens all the time after an episode. I got really scared on time when the Hub lights went out on the telly and then, because we had horrible weather – rain and wind and all – the lights in my house flashed. And another time when I was watching the show one morning and the post came through the letterbox with an almighty clatter and I was like “Aaaah!” That’s just me though.

Another thing, I get way too involved with the show. I tend to get upset when a character gets upset or hurt. It drives my family mad. I was actually sobbing during Children Of The Earth: Day Four. I was just glad I was in the room on my own or that could have been pretty embarrassing. Again, like Doctor Who, I totally adore the soundtrack! I think it’s epic!

Pairings:

OTP: Jack/Ianto (I got accused the once of being a Janto Junkie. Thanks for that Lady Clark. I guess she’s right though. I do adore Janto. It’s so bloody adorable! You could look through any of my Torchwood fics and if it’s not about Owen, it’ll be Janto – with the exception of I Want You.) See:

Jack/Gwen (I don’t think Gwen and Jack should be together. Want to hear my amazing equation? Well: Gwack sounds the same as “Quack” which is another name for a psychiatrist, which is where you go when a relationship is struggling, so there for Gwen/Jack equals “fail”. In all seriousness though, I don’t like them together. Gwen has Rhys and I think she needs to respect him more.)

Gwen/Rhys (I didn't like him to start with but now seeing how much he cares for Gwen, I love him! He’s the picture on my calendar for July. He’s always there for Gwen no matter what and she needs to appreciate that! Also, if Gwen is with Rhys, Jack can stay with Ianto! Mwah ha ha!) See: Knowing Something’s Wrong

Jack/Owen (Okay, okay, I’m guilty. I can read and write this pairing, but if it happened on the show I’d be annoyed because of the lack of Janto-ness. And they’re more like father/son than anything else. Still, I think it’s pretty damn awesome in moderation.) See: I Want You

TV SHOWSPrimeval

Me, ever the Doctor Who fan, saw the advert for Primeval on STV and heard about it being STV's answer to Doctor Who and then I was hooked for the first two series. I have to say though, I was really quite disappointed with how the third series turned out. I was a bit dull compared to what’s been before. It’s kinda sad really. I stopped watching after episode six or something. Also, I got kinda annoyed by the fact that it was airing at the same time as Robin Hood BBC series three which meant I’d have had to record one and watch the other and I never really get round to watching recordings.

Pairings:

OTP: Connor/Abby (They’re cute together! I love Connor, I think he’s ace and Abby’s pretty cool too.)

Stephen/Abby (I thought they’d be good together and I write mostly for them.) See: Playing Games

Helen/Nick (I enjoyed watching their relationship change because it was interesting and it brought some dynamics to the show.)#

TV SHOWSThe Bill

When I first started on FanFiction, it was to write stories about the Bill. I was completely obsessed at that point. I haven't written anything for the Bill in a long time and I doubt I will again, because I don't watch it any more. I started going to a club on a Wednesday night and I'd miss it. I enjoyed it while it lasted, and I was a big fan but I've moved on. However, check out the story I’m co-writing with my friend Cee:

Pairings:

OTP: Will/Honey (I thought they were so sweet. I was so not impressed when Honey got shot!) See: In The Wrong Place

Will/Emma (They were kinda cute too, but I still loved Will with Honey.)

Sam/Phil (It's traditional! I did not like Sam/Stuart. Don't like the Turner guy. I can't even write Sam/Stuart romance stories because it's wrong.) See: Love It When You Call

MOVIES – Star Trek 2009

Well, what can I say? The film was epic! I adored it from start to finish. I really did think it was great. I’ve never been a TOS Trekkie but I intend to watch as soon as I can. The cast of the film were great and it was so action-packed and intense. The music was fantastic and I’m teaching myself to play the theme tune on my clarinet and I’m pleased to report I’m getting there! It’s the only film I’ve seen more than once at the cinema and similarly the only film I’ve been able to write FF for – so it must be good!

Pairings:

OTP: Kirk/McCoy (Yay! I adore them. I thought they were both great in the film and I can totally see the potential for a relationship!) See:

Kirk/Chekov (It’s so damn sweet! I love Chekov. I think he’s adorable.)

Kirk/Spock (Meh. I think it’s more friendship, to be honest. I’ve read some good stories for them though, so it’s all good. I do kinda see the romance in it – or maybe lust at the most but hey. It’s good to read.) See:

Spock/Uhura (I don’t really like Uhura that much. Dunno why, but I don’t. I’m all right with this pairing I guess, but yeah. Not much to say on the matter.) See:
