My Thoughts On Things
Flames / Flamers: My thoughts on this subject depends on the said person/thing. If the flame only says, "this story sucks" than, it is completely useless. There is no use in flaming the story if that's all you have to say. However, if the flame includes specific ways to improve the writing piece, not only is it stating a valid opinion, it is also helping the author with his/her writing.
Reviews: Reviews are what keep me going. Although that is kind of cliche, I must say, that I really enjoy reading reviews. Whether it only says, "Update Soon" or "Loved it" it still makes me feel proud for the piece I have written. I remember, I was in computer (7) and had stumbled upon my story on google. I opened it, and found out I had gotten 20 reviews since the last night. I nearly jumped out of my seat--I couldn't stop grinning the entire class. Even though I love getting reviews, I personally find longer reviews that include well thought through opinions and some constructive critism are more useful.
Slash / Non-Canon Pairings: Some people may hate slash...but I personally think that it's the reader's opinion. I personally am not a devoted fan of slash, however, I think its reasonable for some of the authors to have written it. Although Canon pairings are easier to enjoy, I think the ability to write a story based on a Non-Canon Pairing is amazing. Canon-pairing based stories are often based on the subject itself (for example, using the relationship between Kagome and Inuyasha or Edward and Bella directly from the book). However, other stories that have a relationship between Kagome and Sesshoumaru, or Kagome and Miroku, are very interesting.
Crossovers: I enjoy reading crossovers. It's a way of showing how talented and creative the author is.
