All information about my personal life has been classified by some high-ranking organization, the name of which eludes me now. I will tell you that my penname comes from the infamous Captain Braxton of the Timeship Relativity, though you'll have to guess at how I'm related to him. Long-lost daughter? Alternate universe double? Yet another duplicate created by some bizarre temporal anomaly? Take it up with the Bureau of Temporal Investigations or something.

So... enough of that. About Balance of Power.

This is my first real attempt at fanfiction, though I've written quite a few original stories since I've always found it much easier to write using my own characters than ones that were created by someone else. (I got an award for it last year too, which is irrelevant, but I'm still gloating over it.) The idea for the story came right after watching a rerun of Caretaker, when I started wondering what would have happened if a few more of the original senior staff had survived. I'd also watched Repression recently, and a plot element from that sparked an idea. I tried to adapt it into an original story but eventually went back to a fanfiction, and posted it here on the recommendation of a good friend who also uses the site.
