Hi! waves excitedly New profile! Yay! (edit – I had no idea this was going to get this long!)
I'm Sunset Miko, but you can call me Sunset for short or Christina is good too. I'm 25, married(David), with a 5 year old daughter(Destiny). I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mom. We live in Florida, not by my choice... hate it here... and I grew up in Erie, PA. I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss snow and autumn when the leaves change color. It doesn't do that here. Things are either green or brown... yech!
I spend a lot of time writing fanfiction and chatting about it too. My laptop might as well be an extension of my body. The internet has always been good to me. I met my husband on AOL even though we lived in the same city(been together ten years, married for more than six) and I've now also met my new best friend Jenna online. Now if we can just figure out the blueprints for the particle transporters we're building...
My point though, I like to make new friends and I like hearing from readers, so feel free to email or instant massage me. I'm really not that exciting to talk to though, rather boring. If you email and don't get a response for a while, I'm not ignoring you. Sometimes I get busy and things build up in my inbox. I enjoy knowing what you think as well as your guesses and questions on what will happen next. They help me not only to want to keep writing but it has also at times reminded me of something that I would have otherwise forgotten. And every now and then they inspire something that I probably wouldn’t have thought of.
I want to thank Jenna, iloveprettysilverhair, for all the times she’s helped me out, inspired ideas, chased away writers’ block, and beta’d my fics. I love ya Jenna, my best (damn, almost typed breast there like 4 times) friend and confidant (aka partner in crime). You’re absolutely the greatest thing to come out of fanfiction for me so far (Yes, even better than all the shiny banners and you know how I feel about those!).
Homeschooling is taking up more of my time, and I'm sure it will just continue to do so as she gets older, so if I'm not online or I don't post anything for a while, that's probably why. We like to do a lot of crafts and I knit and cross stitch like a little old lady. I had a girl scouts craft kit business in eBay for a couple of years before I closed because I was selling faster than I could produce. I now have a store on CafePress that sells scout, fanfic, and inufanfic merchandise that I really need to go work on.
I like music, Counting Crows, Wheatus, and about a million other bands. I suppose if you're reading The Syndrome then you'd know that already. I used to be connected to the TV before the laptop brainwashed me, so now I don't watch much at all. I only make myself find time to watch Criminal Minds, Dexter and a couple others. I love anime, watching Naruto, Bleach, and Saiyuki (gotta love TiVo and Netflix).
Now that we're done with me (I told you I was boring), on to fanfiction! When I discovered fanfics early 2007, I was sucked in and have read just about every single Inuyasha one I could get my hands on since then.
While reading them all, I found certain elements that I especially liked, and ended up searching for a story that had all my favorite things. I didn't find it, so I decided to write it. And so was born She Who the Prophecy Foretold. This one has/will have all of my favorite things from my favorite stories, including a lot of dog instinct/pack stuff, family secrets, Sesshoumaru background, and lots more. Oh, and of course the essential Sess/Kag relationship.
The Syndrome came out of nowhere because my husband left the TV on and fell asleep and a show I'd never seen before came on while I was sitting in bed writing. Before I knew it I had an idea that beat on my brain with a rubber mallet until I caved and started writing it. I think it was the LiveJournal communities that got me writing oneshots as well as Inu/Kag fics. I am the Moderator/Maintainer of the Inuyasha Comedy Clubs and was just(6-6-08) made Co-Mod @ InuKagathon and on top of loving to write fics for all the Inuyasha Challenge Communities I spend a lot of time making images for my journal and for my friends as well.
I love writing but it can get frustrating when the thing I want to or should be writing refuses to come out. I know you guys get frustrated with me when it takes too long for an update, especially SWtPF, but I really don't get a choice what I write. Where inspiration leads I follow obediently like good girl.
I now have a yahoo group for updates and announcements that you can be alerted when a new chapter or new fic goes up. It’s also a place for me to talk to you guys about my stories. I've been honored several times now by you guys out there in fanfic land for my stories and I want to thank everyone who's ever nominated, seconded, voted, reviewed, or recommended my fics!
She Who the Prophecy Foretold won 1st place Best Romance at Dokuga's 1st Quarter 2008, as well as 2nd place Best Kagome Portrayal, 3rd place Best Sesshoumaru Portrayal, and 3rd place Best Lemonfic. In the A Single Spark 2008 Annual Awards it won 2nd place Best Overall Fanfic, 2nd place Best Romance/Fluff/WAFF Fanfic, and 3rd place Best Sesshoumaru Portrayal.
The Syndrome won 1st place Best Angst Fiction at Feudal Association March 2008 as well as 2nd place Best Romance Fiction. In the A Single Spark 2008 Annual Awards it won 2nd place Best Alternate Universe Fanfic and 2nd place Best Humor/Parody Fanfic, and Best Comedy at IYFG's First Quarter 2008.
What Your Eyes Can Do was my first oneshot and it won Best Oneshot at Dokuga's 2nd Quarter 2008 as well as Best Oneshot in the A Single Spark 2008 Annual awards. Its sequel (What Your Eyes Did to Me - still in progress) won 3rd place Best LemonFic in . Dokuga's 2nd Quarter 2008.
I also had my drabble Open Mouth Insert Foot place 2nd Best Drabble Dokuga's 2nd Quarter 2008 and 2nd place Best Short-Short at IYFG's First Quarter 2008.
One last thing... lots of people have been commenting on how short some of my fics are. When it says it was written for a drabble prompt that means that it had a word maximum and so I couldn't make it longer. Some of them might be continued through other drabbles or oneshots and some won't. I'm going to try to add a list to the bottom here to let you know what will not be continued, what is under consideration, and what has a sequel planned or in progress.
