What's New In The World

I can't believe it.

After over a year and a half of writing, as of Sunday, August 9th, 2009, Intrusive Dusk is complete! Yaaaaaaaaaay!

It's been fun, and I've loved writing the story, but I will admit, it's a relief to have it finished. So now, in the immortal words of Panic! at the Disco, "this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne"!

There is a sequel to Intrusive Dusk, titled Hybrid Dawn, and it will be up sometime before New Year's. However, I'm taking a temporary hiatus from my Van Helsing series to work on other stories, such as Dark Ripples in Blood and My Life, So Second Hand. I also have a Bones fanfic and a Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic in the works, both of which will come along after a talk with my friend, as the Bones fanfic involves an idea based off a concept of hers, and the Pirates fanfic would involve some characters that she created. However, said friend is pretty awesome and should let me use her characters and base a story off an idea of hers.

Before We Go Any Further!

After a review left for a chapter of Intrusive Dusk, it has come to my attention that people may mistake the characters Edward Orenstein/Edward Van Helsing (Intrusive Dusk, Dark Ripples in Blood) and Jacob Tornincasa (Intrusive Dusk) as none other than Edward Cullen and Jacob Black from Twilight.

Um, no.

I'd like to say that they are in no way, shape, or form, the same Edward and Jacob. To begin with, I only thought Twilight was okay, and the concept of vampires that didn't burst into flames when they walked into the sun boggled my little ninth-grade brain to no end. Now, as I have had nearly three years to ponder the concept of vampires that sparkled like Tinkerbell, it rather repels me from the series. As it may have repeled the reader who left the review asking me if the Edwards and Jacobs were the same, I feel it's important to not only clear this little case of mistaken identity up, but to point out the differences for future reference.

1) Edward and Jacob are not the same species as the Twilight characters of the same name. Edward Orenstein/Van Helsing is a born vampire-demon hybrid with, yes, bat wings and demon claws. He does not sparkle in the sunlight, and if you ask him to do so, he'd probably tell you to go screw yourself. Jacob Tornincasa, unlike Jacob Black, is a full-fledged (and very sadistic) demon who, if you asked him to fursplode (I thank cleolinda on LiveJournal for the term 'fursplode', and I may have to use that in daily conversation now) he would probably chain you up and start torturing you. Just for shits and giggles.

2) Edward and Jacob do not look the same as the Twilight characters of the same name. Edward Orenstein/Van Helsing has spiky black hair and black eyes that turn orange when he's angry. Complete opposite of Mr. Sparklepants Cullen. And, unlike Rob Pattenson, he knows how to use a hairbrush (no offense to anyone who likes him, but have you seen his hair in real life? It's atrocious!) Jacob Tornincasa is a middle aged man with grey-streaked hair and...I think he has brown eyes, actually. I can't remember. Anyways...unlike Taylor Laurent, you probably wouldn't want to see him without a shirt on.

3) Edward and Jacob have completely different love interests than the Twilight characters of the same name. Edward Orenstein/Van Helsing does not much care for whiny klutzes who want to die before they-God forbid-get old. His lady of choice is a Van Helsing, and an ass-kicking one at that. No chance that Catherine would be in love with someone like Edward Cullen-she'd probably kill him just because he got on her nerves after a while with his bizarre moodswings. Jacob Tornincasa's lady, Blanca, is a badass shapeshifter who enjoys helping him torment people for no apparent reason. Not a rapidly-aging dhampir who he fell madly in love with the moment she was born (which, may I add, is just a bit creepy?).

So, all in all and when it comes down to it, these are not the Edward and Jacob you Twihard fans are looking for.

A Random Little World...

Hi! Welcome to my page! I am Celtic Aurora, but you guys...just call me Aurora! Seeing as you were brave enough to come visit my crazy little world, I shall reward you with a little behind-the-pen information!
- I love vampires, werewolves, and fallen angels, and have practically become an expert in vampires (I know a lot about them, believe me!).

-I believe that you're never too old to play pretend. Playing pretend simply gets more sophisticated the older you get. Hell, actors and actresses get paid for playing pretend!
