Comments about HP Fanfiction:
The below is a priceless quote that Myst Shadow took from the Dark Lord Potter forums. I couldn't agree more:
“When Voldemort was 16 he was becoming immortal, when his Harry’s dad was 15 he could already do silent spells, when Snivellus was 16 he was inventing spells and creating new ways of making potions, when Draco bloody Malfoy is 16, not only can he do occulumency, but he made up a plan that lead to the death of one of the most powerful wizards in the world. Heck, even Peter was an animagus when he was what, 15, 16! What the Hell is Harry doing?"
Argh...canon Harry makes me want to rip my hair out. But the point to that rant, aside from personal satisfaction, was:

I've been turning this idea in my head for a while that I haven't seen done yet, but think would be fascinating: Light Lord Harry. Harry would have to create an entirely new breakthrough genre of magic, but imagine the possibilities: super speed and strength, enhanced senses - like intuition, resulting in a semi-seer, 'Light' creature abilities (like a phoenix's healing, 'apparating', and semi-immortality), sensing magic and emotions (or controlling them), 'borrowing' skills to amplify already existing powers...the list goes on. Not to mention the incredible defense against all things Dark.
I've also been searching for a good girl Harry story recently - one that isn't a blatant author insert or Holly (or whatever her name is) existing for the sole purpose of hooking up with Draco. If you know one, I would love to hear your recommendations!
Pairings?
Eh. I confess: I don't like the female characters in Harry Potter. Some of them have the potential to be interesting - Fleur, Cho, Tonks, Hermione; I actually think Bellatrix would be cool, if people broke her out of her stereotype, but I didn't feel like they were developed enough for me like them. I really don't agree with the Harry/Ginny pairing in canon or in fanfiction, enough said. As for slash, it's just not my thing. Pretty much everything I read in Harry Potter fanfiction is gen.
To be honest, my favourite character in the series is Tom Riddle/Voldemort. If he's starring in your fic, you get a heap load of brownie points :)
Current Story Ideas (if one appeals to you, either to write or read, feel free to PM me):
Jen'ari Jidai (a Harry Potter/Star Wars Crossover):
Harry has been training under the guidance of Darth Revan's Sith holocron since six years old. Rapidly mastering Force powers and magic, he discovers the Prophecy and runs away to Knockturn Alley a year before he gets his Hogwarts letter. There, he trains to become a Sith Lord, retrace Revan's steps so that he can find her ship and leave for the Galactic Empire, and restore it to order. His plans are foiled when he fails to steal Lucius Malfoy's wand, and Dumbledore soon gets a hold of him. Now, Harry has to manipulate his way through Hogwarts and wizarding lords, as well as cultivate the image of the noble Boy Who Lived while secretly working behind the scenes as his own Dark Lord. Training in both the Force and magic; Manipulative!Intelligent!Dark!Independent!Harry; Star Wars characters include Revan and Bastila.
Holly Potter (Fem!Harry):
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the most prestigious academy in the world, educator of the elite and the nobility - and an all boys school. After the Philosopher’s Stone incident, Dumbledore convinces Holly to pull out of Beauxbatons and come to Hogwarts disguised as a boy. Now, Holly has to learn how to act like a wizarding lord (ex: etiquette and political lessons), duel, etc, as part of the Hogwarts curriculum, while making a breakthrough in spell creation - Light Magic. Features Light Lord!Harry and Intelligent!Powerful!Fem!Harry. Partially inspired from the Song of the Lioness quartet and Mulan.
Twisted Backwards:
In a fight in the Department of Mysteries, Harry and a few Death Eaters are thrown in the past. The good news? The Death Eaters aren’t in Harry’s new time. The bad news? They’ve changed the past. Dumbledore and Grindelwald rule Europe as Dark Lords, and Harry fears that the only way he can fix everything in this twisted reality is if he gets help from the only other person powerful enough to fight alongside him – Riddle. Features Light Lord!Intelligent!Powerful!Harry, an idea I’ve been playing with for a while. Harry has a whole host of self-invented spells in his arsenal to play around with. If I write this story, it'll feature creature politics and general revolutionary activity ("terrorism").
Project Galatea:
He was the Ministry and the muggles' last resort. He was genetically engineered and trained to be the perfect solider. He was the only hope in a world where Muggles are no better than animals and muggleborns are slaves. But Galatea 196, known to the world as Harry Potter, doesn't remember any of it. Waking up with absolutely no memory of who he is and with all the skills of an elite assassin, he is mistaken for a muggleborn and made Draco Malfoy's servant. Naturally, this would be Intelligent!Powerful!Harry.
Dark Lord Potter and Body Switching:
Harry Potter: a (stategic/tacticial) genius, a powerful wizard and a completely disillusioned victim of the Ministry. After the Department of Mysteries incident, Harry realizes that even if he wins the war, he will still doom the Wizarding world to a corrupt government that will create more Dark lords if left standing. Dumbledore is a powerful persuader, not a leader. He's fighting to keep the world the same, not change it for the better. Voldemort, on the otherhand, is a terrorist trying to change the world for the worse. After a ritual, Harry accidently switches bodies with the Dark Lord. At first, he tries to pretend to be Voldemort, but then he comes to a realization. Using Muggle military training techniques, tactics (for battle), and knowledge, Harry brings the Death Eaters from a terrorist group to a full-fledged army. What happens when the former Boy Who Lived decides he rather likes no one holding him back? What happens when he decides he quite likes being a Dark lord? Partially inspired by Code Geass, general revolutionary history, and the only two body-switching stories I know out there. Dark!Intelligent!Harry
Harry Potter/Animorphs Crossover:
Basically, Voldemort and the Yeerks are working together with the understanding that Voldemort will rule Earth and breed/provide the Yeerks with powerful magical hosts. The magical world is devasated and almost entirely infested. The Order is destroyed. With no one to trust and not enough firepower, Harry does the only thing he can do: flee to the Muggle world, regroup, form a plan, and overthrow Voldemort, who has formed an empire under the name 'Albion'. A wounded and hunted Harry is rescued by the Animorphs, who make him a deal: they'll fight for the magical world if he fights for the Muggle one. Features Dark! or Grey!Harry, as well as Powerful!Harry.
The Dragon's Sword:
Basically, I'm thinking of continuing this. First though, I have to get the ideas more solidified.
Well, these are some of the ideas that I've sketched out. If you want to write one of these yourself, please let me know, because I'd love to read it/them! I don't have my email up, but if you leave it in a review or PM I'll be sure to look. Thanks!
Warrior's Heir:
There's a great website Feuervogel8888 found (http://harryy.blog.cz/0707/5) with pictures that resemble how I envisioned Nagini the Cockatrice to look like; check it out if you're interested!
