Hello fellow Fanfictioners

This is FictionalRemnant, formerly known as HPObsessedMuggle. In the real world the names Stephanie; I was born in 3rd year of the 90s and I come from Down Under. :D

I’m a gal that can’t live without my music and my iPod is a constant extension of my person. I’m sarcastic and am known to be cynical at times but I love humour and enjoy making others laugh. I also hate seeing people’s feelings being hurt. I hope to be a photographer when I finish school (specifically Outdoor and Cinematography) and also have a job that involves writing and history.

I can’t get enough of anything to do with or that involves fantasy. The imagination can run wild with it which is super fun. And it is why this site is so bloody amazing. So many stories, so little time.

I have frequented this marvellous place, where the creative juices are always flowing, for quite a few years now. However, I only created my own account not that long ago.

Also, what you will deduce from this profile is that I love Supernatural, Harry Potter and all the characters involved … a lot. :D My favourites are a good indication.

2nd note: I found a fan made campaign called 'Are You Watching Supernatural' on Youtube (which you should check out as they are brilliantly made (http://www.youtube.com/user/AreYouWatchingSN). Their goal is to advertise Supernatural as it doesn't get the recognition and esteem it deserves. It, the site (http://engeland.us/ayw/index.php) said that one easy way to support was to use the icons, etc, that they had made to promote Supernatural and thus I have decided to partake (without any uncertainty 'cause I don't need any help in knowing what a fantastic show it is) in the campaign. So this is my little contribution in support. :D

Now it's time for a little 'get to know each other' I suppose you could call it. Having looked at a great many accounts on this site (how stalker-ish is that? :D) it's always interesting to read about either their interests or funny quotes or those things that you copy and paste. And well, I wanted to do something like that but there are so many copy-paste thingies that I couldn't be bothered gathering them all. Déteste- Clichés/corniness (I loathe it with a fiery passion), Musicals, Peas, Peoples feelings being hurt, Nuts, Maths, Impoliteness, Fans, Being cold, Bullies, When my iPod runs out of battery, Improper English, People who push in front of others, Cruel comments/reviews, Incorrect spelling of character names, Idiocy, Bella Swan, When people say that Stephenie Meyer is the new JK Rowling (scroll down further to see full rant)

First and foremost, I do actually like Twilight.

One thing that I ABSOLUTELY hate with a burning passion, is when people have the gal to even suggest or say that Stephenie Meyer is the new JK Rowling. Just because her book is fantasy themed and has vampires and werewolves, does not mean she, or her writing style is anything to JK Rowling’s. For gods sake, the woman writes a love story between a vampire and a human, well guess what, something of that nature has already been done. Do you wanna know where, oh in Harry Potter. Remus and Tonks people!

So, she writes a story that has, if you think about it, a pretty dull plot in comparison to Harry Potter. It’s just a love story about two different types of individuals that go through trials of a relationship (yeah, well there’s an abundance of those also in Harry Potter). Where as JK Rowling has made a whole world. She’s created forms of currency, spells, creatures, countless complicated backgrounds for her characters, magical places and forms of magic i.e. the ability of (learning to become an) Animagus. Really, I could go on forever.

She has also put a lot of thought and effort in names and the like. For example, Voldemort. His full name is an anagram and the name Voldemort means flight from death, which is ironic because it is his ultimate goal to achieve immortality. Another example is Sirius Black. His Animagus form is a big black dog. Sirius is the name of the Dog Star Sirius.

I just think its unfair that JK Rowling has put so much effort in creating this amazing world and then an (admittedly alright) book comes along and suddenly because its got Vampires and is successful makes Stephenie Meyer the new JK Rowling. Meyer, besides the creation a few things and of course the plot and characters, has not really created anything of her own.

Also, Harry Potter is interwoven with so many thrilling, enigmatic plots that has you guessing and keeps the story alive; it actually requires thinking about. Where as Twilight, it’s just about a completely unrealistic love in the sense that how can you fall so utterly and irrevocably in love and become so trusting when you have hardly known the other person that long. In just the first few months, hell weeks, of knowing each other, they can’t bare to live without the other and she wants to spend eternity with him. It’s also probably my dislike for clichés and corny-ness that makes me tad more biased. And then by the end of two years, Bella has decided that she wants to live eternity with a man she married as a teenager who she falls pregnant to while still a teenager. How can you know this stuff at that age? I think she is more in love with idea of Edward, because what sane person would be comfortable with a vampire, no matter how open-minded and non judgemental you were.

Also, (as I have also pointed out countless times in my English assignments) Harry Potter has great and important values and morals that can be taken away. And this is a fictional story. To name a few; you have the goods one such as love, friendship, loyalty, but also the consequences and importance that comes with hate, media influence, ignorance and greed.

Anyways, I could get that off my chest and share it with you all.

I would also like to state while I'm here "I LOVE YOU JK ROWLING!" if it weren't for her brilliant, imaginative mind my whole life would cease to exist, it practically revolves around Harry Potter not to mention I would be bored out of my brains. I sometimes make it through the day knowing I can get on the internet and read fanfiction till my hearts content. (Yes I really am that sad, just ask my friends and family, even my teachers)
