That's pretty much all you need to know. November 26, 2008 - Don't know if anyone still watches this space, but. That book I was working on. I, uh, finished it. ONLY TOOK ME THREE YEARS ARGH. But hey, I finished it on the 20th and am now done rewriting the first three chapters, so the rewrite process is going quickly. Then it's off to friends to read and critique, and then out the door to agents. Of course, I had to pick the middle of the biggest financial meltdown in the history of ever to try to start my career, but the Great Depression was the golden age of entertainment so maybe that will work in my favor (haha). So yeah. First in a trilogy. Young adult/humor/contemporary fantasy/abject misery of the human condition (with jokes!). Everyone's support has meant so much to me. Ugh. But - fingers crossed! - I think that dry spell is finally over. Watch this space! Love you all! --Resmiranda March 01, 2006 - Ever since I finished Tales from the House of the Moon, a lot of nice people have been offering me congratulations and wondering if there was any way to show how much they enjoyed my work. I can't make money off fanfiction, but my favorite charity is Puppies Behind Bars, a wonderful program that trains prison inmates to raise puppies to be guide dogs for the blind, or for use in explosive detection. In addition to providing some of the most well-adjusted and well-trained dogs to guide-dog schools and law enforcement, this program helps give convicts serving time meaningful work, dignity, and a sense of purpose. Puppies Behind Bars Evaluation @ Charity Navigator February 28, 2006: A lot of people have asked when I'm going to write another novel-length fic or another novel about SessKag or whathaveyou. The answer is: I'm not. I don't have the energy, patience, or desire to write another behemoth like HotM or even a normal novel like Fugue that I can't sell. I've written over half a million words of fanfiction over the years, and I don't get a dime from any of it. Which is fine, since that's not why I wrote those things in the first place, but I have to move on or I will stagnate. I feel like I've outgrown fandom. In truth I was ready to bail last summer, but didn't because I have this weird thing about finishing things that I have completed more than half-way. Go fig. Anyway. Long story short, I'm working on an original fantasy novel. Hopefully I'll get it written in a reasonable amount of time and actually be able to sell it to a publisher. With luck you guys won't have forgotten me by the time it hits the shelves (if it ever does). I'll still be writing one-shots from time to time; I still have a lot of ficlets to do for my LJ 30shards claim, and I'll get to the end of those if it kills me (it'll be nice to have some brain candy to snack on when I'm stuck in the middle of my orig!manuscript). There's also A Thousand Beautiful Things and The Wasteland series, and a few gift fics that are YEARS overdue. Eheh. So I'm not leaving totally. But I won't be around as much. Besides, HotM was a great bang to go out on, ne? I love you all - you've been wonderful. Thank you so much for all your support over the years!
