First off: I'm a nobody. Why are you even looking at this profile? Go read silvershine or sakura haru or leafy girls' work. Or if you choose to be stubborn and read this inane profile, promise me you'll check them out later?

About Me: Above all else I'd like to consider myself an editor. Fostering strong authors' talents and helping them grow is the role I choose to play in this fandom. My own writing will always come last. I appreciate reviews and love it when some people love what I've written, but most of it is the product of short-lived boredom, a recalcitrant muse, and the desire to play around with a certain technique (e.g. Sonnet was the product of messing around with heavy anecdote). Plus, I lean toward the esoteric so I really invest little hope in finding a receptive audience in fandom. A KakaSaku adaptation of 'Measure for Measure' with a 'Henry VIII' battle scene is what I'd like to write, but I feel like it would be a lot of effort for a few readers.

My name: Portia is a character from Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. She is one of the strongest and most intriguing female characters he created, and I fancy that I have a bit of her wit and maverick spirit.

Recommended reading: 'Lost Girls and Love Hotels' by Catherine Hanrahan (deceptively chick fic looking cover but all sex, drugs, and Japanese idiosyncrasy inside) and 'Geisha' by Liza Dalby (an American anthropologist's study of life inside Gion when she becomes a geisha herself).
