WHAT'S NEW

-October 18: You know you're getting into a project when it's the only thing you've really worked on lately. Today I have posted the sixth chapter of my break-out fanfic MOTH, and in doing so, I shamelessly admit I've become attached to it. This does not, however, mean I'm abandoning my other works. I am going to continue to try giving attention to all my ongoing projects, and slow as I may be, I will get around to updating those. My plans for now consist of getting the next chapter of my flagship series ready for launch. With luck, the 22nd chapter of May Of Ashes will be up around Halloween time.

Hm...I'm starting to notice a trend here. Looking over my update notes from the last few months, it seems I've always updated something on the 18th of each month. I don't know if it's mere coincidence or if there's some significance about getting through the ides of each month. Probably coincidence.

-November 3: I hope everybody had a happy Halloween! Well, what would you like to hear first: the good news or the bad? I'll start with the bad, so you can then be uplifted by the good. So the bad news is...I've kinda fallen into an unintentional hiatus. Again. But no need to fret, I finally found a way to make more free time for writing! That said, we now come to the good news (for me, anyway). Exactly today, 21 years ago, I came out of my mother's uterus kicking and screaming. I guess I should count myself lucky to have lived this long - I've known people younger than me who are already with the Good Lord. But enough melancholy. The last time my age changed me (three years ago), I was able to vote, smoke, serve in the military, and possess adult literature. Three freakin' years later, I can finally drink. About time I reached adulthood in its fullest sense. So to celebrate, I plan on playing the best drinking game ever known to mankind. I'll have to remember to record everything that happens while that's going on...

-November 21: Darn it, I had a good thing going on, and now it's over! What, you ask? Well, I had a streak going on where I updated something on the 18th of each month. This began way back in August, and lasted till last month. This month shattered the streak. I've officially missed the 18th by exactly three days. But three is a lucky number, and for those of you who've been waiting for something, chapter seven of MOTH is up (the fact seven is also a lucky number is pure coincidence, as is the fact that today's date is the product of three and seven). I guess today was a pretty good day for me. At least the hiatus is over for the time being. For those of you who are expecting an update to one of my other works, stand fast. I'm hoping to update all my current WIP's at least one more time before New Years.

In other news (completely unrelated to fanfiction), I got promoted from PVT to PV2 Thursday night. Yeah, I'm still a Private, but at least I have a rank insignia now!

Profession: Appears to be a simple Coordinator, but might be hiding a dark secret

Physical Appearance: Blue eyes with blue hair that hangs down at her lower back. Stands at roughly five and a half feet tall. Her choice of clothing is very simplisic - her usual wardrobe consists mostly of loose-fitting T-shirts and either thigh-length shorts or ankle-length skirts. (Hopefully, I can try to get a picture up on DeviantART before too long)

Personality: Very sweet and usually considerate of others. However, it appears she's keeping her true identity a secret for the time being.

Relatives: Kavichi Ketchum (Father), Ash Ketchum (Cousin, though neither are yet aware of this), Giovanni Ketchum (Uncle)

Pokémon: Currently has a Wynaut, Clefairy and Magnemite.

2. Name: Kavichi Ketchum

Age: Early 40's

Hometown/Region: Phenac City, Orre Region (Originally from southern Kanto Region)

Profession: Top executive of Team Nefarious, which he formed from the remaining members of Cipher and Team Snagem. From time to time, he consults with his commanders, which include Silver (the very Silver from the GSC games), Snattle, and Miror B. Although sponsoring the contests and leagues ongoing in the Orre Region, his ultimate goal is conquest of the Orre Region (and later, the world) through the creation of unstoppable shadow Pokémon.

Physical Appearance: Very similar to Giovanni's own complexion. Indeed, only minute facial appearances and outfit make/color distinguish them. He stands at six feet tall and has a head full of black hair. (Again, I'll try to get a picture of him uploaded onto my DA account)

Personality: His current mood is influenced by the progression of his plans; if everything works out smoothly, he's happy, otherwise... Acts calm around strangers, yet is capable of provoking fear in even the most steadfast individuals. It is due in large part to this that he commands much respect from within his faction.

Relatives: Clarissa Ketchum (Daughter), Giovanni Ketchum (Older Brother), Ash Ketchum (Nephew)

Pokémon: Keeps his vast army in PC storage, to be chosen at random. However, he usually relies on his second-in-commands to take care of any threats or foolish challengers.

Current Location: Executive office suite, situated at the very top of the former Cipher shadow Pokémon factory in the desert north of Phenac City

Physical Appearance: Waist-length blue hair. Emerald-green eyes. Wears the type of clothing that is considered seasonally appropriate. She's a mom, how do you think she looks?

Personality: Sweet and nurturing. Again, she's a mother, so this is to be expected.

My Fireplace

Or, more precisely, a list of all the flames I've ever gotten. Some people get their feelings all bunched up and cry when they get flamed. I'm the other kind of person, however - the kind who laughs at flames. Seriously, that was the best part of fics like My Immortal (which, prior to its removal, was a goldmine for the best and hardest laughs I've ever had). To amuse myself, and anyone else who takes delight in the stuff people say, here's my own list. I don't expect to get many flames, but hey, you never know who's a hater.

1. The Name: ShadowKingIsATurd (Anonymous review)
The Flame: "ShadowKing1988 ur just jelus cuz peter chimaras fic is 3465346575 tims coolur then urs. u keep ur well ritten fics and ur stoopud pogaymon stories. Peter chimera will alwaze reign supreem."
My Reaction: Because the review was anonymous, I could not respond directly. As you can clearly see, the spelling is positively atrocious. "3465346575 tims"? That's a lot of people named Tim (I'm almost positive there aren't that many people in the world named Tim). "u keep ur well ritten fics..." Is this a promotion of misspelling by ignorance, or a compliment hidden within a flame? The latter is rare, since compliments typically counteract flames.
Damage Assessment: I think I cracked a smile reading this. Especially when I realized that the intended damage was made null-and-void by the not-so-cleverly-hidden compliment.

FUTURE IDEAS: Not entirely sure, definitely more Advanceshipping stuff. I might also do a Questshipping fic, and possibly even a Shoppingshipping or Contestshipping fic, since I'm not entirely opposed to them (see my list of shipping support above). If you have any ideas, PM me and we can discuss a story!

-Youth - I got the idea for this the other day as I was reading a fic (The title is Giovanni's New Neighbor - it's in my favorites, if you wanna take a look), in which a dimwitted Ash and Spongebob torment Ash's dad, Giovanni. For my purposes, The story takes place in the new residential area between Pallet Town and Viridian City. Ash, in his early teens, has a new neighbor May, along with her full brother Max, half-brother Drew and dimwitted cousin Brendan. Obviously, it'll more than likely be an Advanceshipping fic, but will feature plenty of bashing to Giovanni and Brendan (cause watching them get hurt, physically and emotionally, makes me laugh - I'm evil in that respect) for comedic effect. Now, the concept is not set in stone, it won't be posted for a while (if ever, at least, not till I'm done with The May Of Ashes, whenever that is), and the title and story are subject to change.

-Battle Nexus - An idea for a possible sequel to The May Of Ashes. It might or might not happen, it really all depends on how I end the aforementioned story, as well as how I and my reviewers feel. If this does happen, I'll probably rate it "T", because it'll be some time after its prequel (as in, a few years), and naturally, adultish things will happen (no lemons, though, otherwise it'll be on my AFF account). Might also culminate with Ash's decision to tie the knot with May. Again, don't count on this, it's just an idea. Whether or not it does happen, again, depends on how I end the prequel, plus some other factors. I came up with the title after thinking about seasons of the anime beginning with "battle" (right now include Battle Frontier and Battle Dimension).

-Love Heals - I am a STRONG SUPPORTER of Advanceshipping, so chances are, I might not do this in the end. However, I have a gut feeling I might, so here's my thoughts. Because I don't really want to think of May being with anybody besides Ash, the presence of Drew and Brock in her love life make things difficult for me. Drew's not evil, but he never passes up a chance to beat her down, then lure her with a rose and think he's off the hook. And for Brock, well...He normally only takes notice of older women (a definite MILF hunter). But, onto the idea. May is single after learning her crush, Ash, is going out with Anabel (or some other anime-established character, I don't know who yet). In her time of need, Brock comes with a you-scratch-my-back-I-scratch-yours type of plan; Brock will help May find the man of her dreams, if May can help Brock hook a girl (and not get yanked away when he's all romantic). Things of a humorous nature ensue, leading up to the final epiphany for the both of them. Several shippings involved.

-A Romantically Rosy Rivalry - Another idea I got for a story. Once more, this one has a plot that would deviate from Advanceshipping (sad, the ideas I'm getting lately) in favor of an alternate pairing. As with my previous idea, the woman in question would be May, and it would again involve rivalry. My idea for the story goes as follows: Suppose May and Ash are really close...until tragedy strikes and Ash dies. May is heartbroken. As she goes through the grief of her loss, her good friends Dawn and Misty step in to help her get back in the game. Using an online dating service, May meets up with two potential suitors, both of whom are clearly romantics. Both are poetic, and both profess to greeting women with roses. But what happens when May finds out who her dates are? And what happens when the two men realize they're after the same woman?

-Azerothian Super Villains - Yet another idea produced by my overly active mind while surfing vids on YouTube. One of my few potential works that falls outside the Pokémon world and into the World Of Warcraft. Basically, the four greatest villains of Azeroth, (Illidan Stormrage, Kael'Thas Sunstrider, Archimonde, and Akama) have formed an alliance and seek attention unsuccessfully as they endeavor to conquer the world, one plan after another. Hilarity ensues. Based on the videoes created by Ian Beckman and Michael Decamp.

-Enchanté - Got this for an idea after watching the Disney film Enchanted. Based off the film, it starts in the fantasy world. May, a fair maiden, meets up with Prince Drew, and they have your typical fairytale love. However, Drew's mother, the evil Queen Soledad, doesn't want to be succeeded as queen, so she sends May to a place "where there are no happy endings" (aka, the real world). Initially finding only rude and/or deceptive people, May comes across Ash Ketchum, a romantically disenfranchised lawyer who is planning to tie the knot with his girlfriend Dawn. Drew comes to the real world, followed by his friend (and Soledad's henchman) Harley, to find May. Harley, however, is acting on Soledad's orders to eliminate May. Meanwhile, a series of adventures make both Ash and May realize a few things about love they didn't know before. At the ball...Well, I've probably said too much already. Initially has Contestshipping and Pearlshipping, but ends with Advanceshipping and Belleshipping.

-Strong And Stronger - A brilliant idea I just got for yet another story. Will feature Advanceshipping and Questshipping. Ash and May have reached the final round of their respective tournaments, where their respective rivals are Jimmy and Marina. Who'll win each competition? Who has the stronger of the two bonds? Hopefully, I can throw some twists in for variety...

-Is This Legal? - A "What if?" kind of fic I came up with just a moment ago. Featuring my favorite pairing (Advanceshipping) and my favorite crack pairing (Piketshipping, or PikachuXKetchup; mistakenly referred to by me in the past as "Ketchupshipping"). It starts when Ash and Pikachu are having lunch in a restaurant. Pikachu finds a ketchup bottle unlike any other, and immediately asks Ash if he can marry it. Hilarity ensues, and a twisting bunch of mishaps lead to an unforgettable climax. Now, if I can just learn to hold my ideas until I get some of these written...

- Pressing The Buttons - Idea number nine! And the list grows yet longer...Ah well, better to have a long list of future ideas than no ideas. That's what makes for consistency from a writer. Anyway, enough about ideas and to the current proposal. We all know some Pokémon characters have serious flaws. And some are sweet. May finishes her tour of Johto and comes to see Ash's Sinnoh League Tournament. Drew comes with her because he is playing it nice and steady. Of course, he still mocks her and laughs at her angry outbursts. May is disheartened when she learns that Ash and Dawn are an item. Heartbroken and being teased by Drew leaves May thinking things can't get any worse...and then she meets the cruel, snide lifeform known otherwise as Paul. To May, Paul is far worse than Drew, yet something inside of her desires to be with the bad boy of the Sinnoh region. What about bad boys is it that she finds attractive? And whose will can she break under her own? Before long, May decides she wants the most mature guy, so either Drew has to learn to respect May's talents in a more positive way, or Paul needs to get a proverbial slap to the face and change his ways. You guessed it, there are three shippings: definite Pearlshipping, as well as Contestshipping versus Farawayshipping.

- Back Atcha! - An idea for yet another Contestshipping fic, but this one also has Ikarishipping. BFF's May and Dawn have grown tired of their respective crush's bad behavior. Drew's arrogance drives May up the wall. Paul's "I-don't-need-anybody-but-myself" attitude makes Dawn want to rip her hair out. And then, the girls decided, 'what if we turned their own weapons against them?' Now Drew faces an excessively cocky May, and Paul is seeing Dawn's dark side with no lenience. Who's going to snap before the end? And will the girls' plan work?

- Midnight Meadow - An exclusively Belleshipping-oriented fic. Title comes from Drew and Dawn's hair colors (Dawn's is midnight blue, Drew's is as green as the grass of a meadow). Anyway, I just want to explore the nature of Belleshipping in a story form. I'll know more when I start writing this (whenever that happens...)

- Jerkwad - My latest (and possibly greatest) idea. Similar to my aforementioned Pressing The Buttons idea, but instead focuses on Dawn. Will contain Advanceshipping, as well as Ikarishipping versus Belleshipping.

- TriBliss - (Not featured in summer 2008 poll) Inspired by a pic I saw on DeviantArt. The title is tenuous at this point, as is a plotline. Basically, I'm considering writing a fic about a threesome consisting of everyone's favorite trainer in a romantic sort of triangle with our top two favorite coordinators. I wish I knew what that grouping is called... Anyway, it's little more than an idea at this point and needs refinement.

- Red's Hoenn Hottie - (Not featured in summer 2008 poll) Another idea inspired within the realm of DA. As with the previous idea, the title is tenuous with a recommended refinement in order, and no concrete plotline yet. Simply, a fic that would feature MangaAdvanceshipping (Red X Sapphire). Probably would involve some angst, since Franticshipping (Ruby X Sapphire) is pretty much canon. ...What? Don't look at me like that! People thought Rocketshipping was canon, and yet we have pairings like Kokoshipping!
