Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter.

Hey there! The name is Lauren, sign it Lauren Nicole. Not too fond of my last name, I plan on changing it once I turn eighteen which really isn't too far away - only a year and a few months :). I love to read, I love to write - both are extreme passions of mine. It wasn't until recently that I started an attempt at a story (see below entry). I'm a pretty deep individual; things have happened to me quite early on in life, and I believe they reflect in my writings. I like fluff, I like romance, but I think that intensity and tragedy are more my style of writing. I'm a junior in high school, currently taking three AP's (for those of you who don't know what those are, they're collegiate courses that you can take in high school. I know I'm crazy, you don't have to tell me.) AP English, AP Latin, and AP American History. If you happen to be reading my fic, Monster: The Story of Tom Marvolo Riddle, please leave a review? Normally I wouldn't ask... It's just that I'm feeling a bit inferior in writing skill at the moment in my English class. Ooh, I sound stupid. Sorry. Lo siento. Me paenitet (Latin).

Tom Riddle is definitely one of my favorite characters in the Harry Potter series. Actually, I think he and Harry are neck-and-neck for that first place position. Half Blood Prince was one of my absolute all-time favorites of the HP series. Learning the psychology behind what made Tom Voldemort was absolutely fascinating to me. I'm a bit of a sucker for childhood morbidity XD. It also got me thinking... JKR gives us snippets of his childhood that are extremely pertinent to his rise into darkness. She does, however, leave the reader a tad bit unsatisfied. I'd have LOVED a book in which it's all about Tom's history - if ever she writes another Potter book, I hope it's about that.

Let's see... Here we go! Some of my all-time favorite books. Maybe it will help to enrich some other minds, make our generation of technological obsessors learn to think again (sorry if that offended anyone - eek..) It's a bit eclectic, but hey! Why not?:
Every single Harry Potter novel - J.K. Rowling
Green Darkness - Anya Seton
Nineteen Minutes - Jodi Piccoult
Dracula - Bram Stoker
Never Cry Wolf - Farley Mowat
Cradle and All - James Patterson
Silence of the Lambs - Thomas Harris
Hannibal - Thomas Harris
Hannibal Rising - Thomas Harris
White Fang - Jack London
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Emerson's Essays - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Phantom of the Opera - Gaston Leroux
The Jungle Books - Rudyard Kipling
The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield
Equus - Peter Shaffer
Paradise Lost - John Milton

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little "About the Author" moment right there. I hope you take the time to read my story on Tom. It's no where near being done, and it's going to take a while to complete since I want to do it justice, so please have patience with me. I promise, it'll be worth it :). Cheers!

Currently I am working on a story about Tom Riddle, my own version of how he came to be Lord Voldemort. It essentially questions all that Harry and Dumbledore learn about the boy, and their reasons as to how/why he became the Dark Lord. The idea for the story just came at me one day (as cliched as it sounds) and I started it from the middle of the story when he is a teenager, I think in his sixth or seventh year, I haven't decided yet. You also must understand, a big theme in this story is fate. Does fate exist, or is it something one makes up as an excuse for how their lives turn out? As in this story, was fate truly at work when Tom was born at this specific orphanage? Would he have turned out the same if Merope had gone somewhere else? No matter what, was he ALWAYS destined to become Lord Voldemort? That, my friends, is something I shall leave up to you. As my story progresses, chapters WILL be longer, never fear, so please, bear with me! I really want to do this story justice, so I am sorry if updates are not frequent; I'd rather take extra time and have it come out well than rush the story and have it turn out crappy. In all honesty, I am writing this story for myself - I am only posting it because I want to see what others think, and it IS nice to know that your hard work is recognized. = And thanks so much to those of you who have reviewed and favorited me already, it's very much appreciated!

Just so you all know, June 27-30 I am going to be in New York, so there will not be any updates. In addition to this, I'm going to be away from July 5th to the 26th for an internship at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, where I will NOT have any way to update my story =. However, I will be writing, so once I get back from BOTH trips there WILL be an update, never fear. And to all those who have commented on my story thus far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart - your reviews mean so much to me, and while I am a tad bit bummed that I haven't got a whole lot, the ones that I have received are near and dear to me. Hope you're enjoying your summer! Cheers!

This week I will be updating Monster: The Story of Tom Marvolo Riddle for the last time until I come back from Utah. I made it especially long, so hopefully it will hold you over until I return. I will be writing while I'm away, I know I already said that, but I figured I'd just refresh everyone's memory. I hope you enjoy it, and don't forget to read the A/N's included in both the beginning AND the end; they're very important. Anyways, enjoy the story and your summer! Cheers!

Well, I just got home from my three week trip last night, it was loads and loads of fun! Unfortunately, I had no time to work on my story, so it could very well be another week before I update once more. I didn't receive any reviews, but this is fine, it isn't why I'm writing the story. My only concern is that the update-email didn't send out, so I'll see what I can do about that... Hope everyone's summer is going great!

Finally! An update for you all! Thanks tropical storm Fay for postponing school another day so I could get this chapter out there! It's not as long as Chapter Four, but it's still a pretty decent length. Tomorrow I start school - boo! - and I'm not sure when I'll get another chance to write, so stay tuned. I took down the Author's Note and replaced it with Chapter Five.. Thanks so much to those of you who have chosen to review! I really enjoy them! Hope the rest of you have a great summer. Cheers!

I have NOT forgotten my story!! I swear! I've just been extremely swamped in all of my classes, with barely any time to give the story the attention it deserves, nevermind have the time to even attempt to do so. I am working on it, I'm finishing writing the chapter in my notebook today, tomorrow at the latest, and I will have it up this weekend. I am still alive! I am still around! Please don't be horribly angry, those of you who are following the story. Please don't give up on it. I'm really really trying.

I know that I said I would update the story over Thanksgiving, but I was having a few issues. No one told me what they desired of the continuation of the story, and as such, I have been unable to get it to work. I keep writing and then scratching everything out, because none of it seems right. I know where it is to go; I know the outcome. I just can't seem to figure out how to get there. Do I skip over his early years at Hogwarts? Do I include them? If I include them, are they full chapters or snippets, highlights of the more important parts? A dilemma if there ever was one. Bright side: My birthday is in 11 days! Woop! Hopefully by then it'll make a bit more sense... and maybe you'll all have another chapter.

Whether or not I have people reading this, I do not know, but I'll keep on updating here on the progress of the story, in case people are looking for it. I'm almost done with Chapter Seven after many - and I mean MANY - revisions and scrapping and who knows what else. I'm shooting for having it up by... Thursday? The 11th of December? Friday is my birthday - yay! Seventeen! - so hopefully I can get this up, as an early birthday present from me to you all. :D I hope all is well with my readers, and that I haven't lost any of you in between the waits! Cheers everyone! Break is SO soon!

Wow. Very, very long time since I updated. I'm so sorry. Life has been a real mess lately with some family health problems and trying to keep up with my classes. I have NOT forgotten Tom Riddle. Ever. It wasn't until today that I was even really able to work on that chapter. Hopefully it'll be up by next week, this Sunday, if we're lucky. Hope everyone's 2009 has been going well...

Obviously I didn't update when I said I would. However, I'm letting you all know that I finished writing the chapter in my notebook today - it's 14 pages front-to-back, and would be longer, but I decided to make Year Six its own chapter. In chapter eight you will be getting various experiences that Tom has had from Year Two to Year Five. It's pretty cool, I think. Because I decided to make Year Six its own chappie, it should be out within a week of publishing chapter eight, but I make no promises nor guarantees about that fact. Anyway, I hope everyone's been well! Here's to finally publishing a chapter... Cheers!

First question to be answered: is it just that he's (Tom) averse to feeling affection towards someone, or is he actually not physically attracted to women?
Tom is afraid to feel affection. Rember Inky? That bond he had with another creature had been found out, and someone used it to hurt him. Ms. Cope, in Chapter Five, told him his mother had never wanted him, something that would strike a cord in anyone, but most particularly in an orphan, and then he found out that she had made it up as he eavesdropped on a conversation. This little - motif? Is that the right word? - will be repeated over and over in this story. Pay special attention to it, as this is really what the story is about: His fear of caring for another being...

Is it true, as Dumbledore once said, that Tom Marvolo Riddle never desired nor retained any type of companionship? Or did something occur, some sort of tragedy, that turned him away from the light and forever steeped him in the realm of darkness?
