Author has written 38 stories for Harry Potter, and StarTrek: The Next Generation. Hello. I started writing Harry Potter fanfiction around March 2008. That's about a year ago. I suppose I spend entirely too much time playing in the fanfiction-world, but it's addictive, isn't it? We are graciously given wonderful characters, amazing setting, and multiple plot points that, if twisted and tweaked, can take us into uncharted territories... It also seems that the HP universe, with its medeival-like wizarding world being ebedded in the "normal society" is beautifully suited to dark themes, tragedies, and epic stories of redemption/salvation. I am hopelessly addicted to the post-war HP stories, dark themes, situations that seem completely hopeless, and the sentimental idea that even if love doesn't conquer all, it makes everything worthwhile in the long run. Selected Fics: Ashes of Armageddon (SS/HP) is my longest completed fic. I've discontinued posting it on this site, but the story is now finished, and can be found on hpfandom.net. It's a hurt/comfort, slow-paced slash (I don't think the readers will appreciate just how slow-paced) and mystery/adventure. Crackfics: When I get tired of angst, I start writing crackfics. See High Time, Of Human Bondage, Anger Management and Terms of Endearment. And of course, Resurrection Potion for Voldemort, which was translated into German. :-) Songfics: I usually hate reading songfics, and there was a time when I swore to myself I'd never write one. I broke my promise to myself, and wrote two: And Still So Far and Walkabout, and to my own surprise, I ended up liking them both. Then again, SoftObsidian74 wrote The Guardian songfic for me, and I did like that, and Mood Music by whitehound is pretty much a multi-chaptered songfic, and I did like that too, so... maybe songfics aren't all bad... My Favorite HP Characters: 1. Snape - I'll never understand how JKR had the heart to kill him! After all the shit he'd been through? I know, she said the writer must be ruthless, but... COME ON! Not cool! 2. Luna - She's so wonderfully nutty, that she's begging to be used in fanfiction. Of course, her nuttiness makes her difficult to write, but ... worth the trouble. 3. Harry - How can you not love him? I think his intelligence and sense of humor are often underestimated in fanon, and he ends up being written as boring, or stupid. Which is a shame. Canon!Harry is wonderfully sarcastic, and could easily give Snape a run for his money. 4. Draco - I am very fond of canon!Draco: bigoted, pitiful, spiteful, scared, but ultimately, very very human. The fanon Draco who has a halo, a pair of wings, the Sword of Gryffindor in his pocket, and some veela blood is ... eh. 5. Dumbledore - I adore the man, even though I'm mostly pissed off at him. But he's interesting, in that he requires great sacrifices from everyone who's looking up to him, but he's willing to make many of his own as well. He's also a fairly bendable character for fanfiction purposes, and can be believably written as grey, though I don't buy the evil!Dumbledore stories. 6. Pettigrew - I don't know why I sympathize with him so much. He is wicked, treacherous, ruthless when he needs to be, has no shame or pride... but maybe the tiny-itty-bitty glimpses of humanity here and there are what makes him so endearing (even if we do mostly want him dead). I also like keeping the Trio intact in fanfiction. Harry + Ron + Hermione really do belong together, and fanfictions where Ron rejects Harry for being gay, or where Hermione or Ron (or both!) die, just ... drive me crazy. LEAVE THE TRIO ALONE! I say.
