Top 10 Gigs ever!
#1 Sir Paul McCartney - He merely walked onstage and he got a standing ovation. Immediatley i felt i was in the presence of a musical legend. Such a warm loving person with bucketloads of talent and charisma and so many amazing srtories to tell! He truly loves his bandmates and adores his fans, worthy of his knighthood and more! He performed 39 songs without any intervals, played Piano, Bass, Guitar, Ukulele and Mandolin, and had time for running up and down stage singing his heart out. The man is a God!!
#2 The Strokes - Although they performed a very scheduled set due to being at a festival and sound problems beforehand preventing them going onstage on time, they were spectacular musically. Albert hammond Jr. is truly a beast with that guitar! Very tight musically and though Julian Casablancas isnt much of a talker, i got a feeling they genuinly love doing what they do and love to rock it. The crowd was electric and every song was met with roars of applause.
#3 Muse - AMAZING technical show, jets of fire, a 3D set, floating eyeball balloons and fireworks were just some of the spectical. Musically they were perfect, and the setlist was truly fantastic, basically a great big kiss to their hardcore fans. Im not the greatest fan ever, but seeing these guys live filled me with a love for them i never knew i could have.
#4 KT Tunstall - Totally underrated. She is a fanstastic person with a down to earth and kooky personality, she had the best banter ive ever heard at a gig. I was laughing out loud at every little thing she said after each song. She performed as a one man band too, which takes a hell of a lot of talent and hard work to pull off. If i had any woman as a best friend in the universe it would be her, she is a very talented singer/songwriter and has amazing taste in music to boot, a total rock chick!
#5 Newton Faulkner - What a talent this guy has!!! I have always had a softspot for the ginger dreadlocked piratey man, aspecially his rendition of spongebob squarepants and rusted root, but i never knew how great a person he is, and so refreshingly different! He is the only person ive ever seen perform barefoot too! Just seeing what this wonderful man can do with his fingers on that fretboard is more entertaining than any acoustic band he could have. Truly a genius with his little wooden guitar.
#6 The Eagles - Wonderful summer festival atmosphere as they played an extended acoustic version of Hotel California, the crowd were so into it not a single person wasnt watching peacefully without a smile on their face. Definetly saw legends perform that day.
#7 Ocean Colour Scene - i dont know too much about the whole list of songs but i have my favourites, and boy they were incredible to watch them perform! They still have it without a doubt, and even the songs i didnt know i enjoyed and even managed to sing along to! The crowd hadnt had enough either, and left the tent to a hearty verse of OH OH LA LA's
#8 Darwin Deez - I gave their album a little listen before seeing them, and i liked what i heard, but it hadnt quite sunk in yet. Some of the songs are a bit samey, but when watching them live, with their bouncey, electric music and hilarious interspersed dance routines, i was truly hooked and singing lyrics as i was walking out of the door. Darwin even improvised lyrics to tribute bands who had performed before them!
#9 Frank Turner - Again, one of those acts that i was still self educating before i seen him live, but once he attacked that stage with his incredible positive persona and witty banter, he invited the audience out of their seats to come dance with him down the front. The stories i'd heard about him doing all these free gigs for his fans and being a giganticaly nice guy sweetened the deal, but his taste in music and his uplifting lyrics of the real value of truely good music made it one of the most characterised gigs ive ever been to.
#10 Noah and the Whale - What a lovely, humble bunch of guys they are! Ive been a fan since their first single released, and they havent let me down since. Their live versions of old and new songs as well as an incredibly well constructed set list was blissfulness to my ears! They have a power over me that softens me and helps me appreciate love and this effect only strenghthens when hearing them live.
Anything else you guys wanna know, just PM me or email me and ill be glad to chat!
