It's been a while since I've written any fanfiction and I have to thank Daisy Snapdragon both for getting me completely hooked on Avatar: The Last Airbender as well as bringing me back to fanfiction. I think fanfic is a wonderful way to interact with the things we love to read/watch/play.
I started out heavily into Avatar, but recently rediscovered a favorite from the past, Earth 2. Since Avatar is on hold, I'm indulging in a flood of Earth 2 fic. I'll write in the Avatar world again though, I promise.
AVATAR READERS: I'm a huge Zuko x Toph fan--as if you can't tell that from Land of Fire and Stone. I also like filling in the blanks in the series--in canon, the behind the scenes moments. But of course, I did devote weeks of my life to writing a long, post-series piece and can't swear I won't do it again.
EARTH 2 READERS: What is not to love about that show?! We got so robbed by just having one season. They never got a chance to explore all the hints they dropped, so I decided to just do it for them by writing Season 2. I wanted to play with all those ideas and strange notions--especially the ones that seemed a bit on the far fetched side at first glance ("Flower Child"? Oh, please--we all said--but I think it was far more important than it seemed). The time investment in getting Devon out of cold sleep had to be believable (plus Debrah Farentino needed maternity leave!) and there was so much to do with that whole biochip, mysterious illness thing. We couldn't just wrap that up deus ex machina style. Also, as much as I want Danziger and Devon to discover that they are made for each other, I just don't see that as being something that the series would have done quickly. So I'm not going to rush it either. It's more fun that way anyhow.
And what do the two series have in common? You guessed it--Clancy Brown!! Clancy Brown provides the scary, but compelling voice of Long Feng in Ba Sing Se and also played curly haired mechanic John Danziger--I will stop there for fear of waxing eloquent. You don't know how hard it is not to write constantly about him. Man, I love Clancy Brown. If you see me on the Buckaroo Banzai fanfic lists, you'll know I'm writing about Rawhide--who is not dead, trust me.
Anyway, thanks for reading my stuff and sending me reviews. I look forward to feedback! Just knowing you're out there reading makes it that much more fun to do. So take a second and drop a note!
