Author has written 17 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, Earth 2, and Forgotten Realms. It is now November of 2009 and time to update the profile page again. Having completed the Forgotten Realms: Damage, Dawn, and Disaster trio, I took a break to start a new job that sucked all my creativity out. Now, I've had a chance to get used to it and am in the process of rebooting my creative juices. So, I put up Forgotten Realms: Sanctuary just for fun. Now, I'm in the process of completing a new episode for my Earth 2 second season, and after that I'm going to do a new Avatar short story. So there's something coming up for everybody! In the meantime, check me out at www.fictionpress.org where I am Arcole as well. I've got a nearly finished fantasy piece up there that if lots of people review I might just finish. I am also going to put up some more original works there since getting them actually published has been such a fruitless endeavor. I'll just let people read them for reviews instead. But I will always write fanfiction and here's why. I love fanfic. I love fanfic to the point that I don't work on my stuff that I need to work on to try to earn some money so I can be free to write fanfic! Here's what I love about it. Fanfic allows writers to enter the works they love. It allows them to make commentary on characters and themes and plot elements that they personally find interesting and fulfilling. I think it's the ultimate compliment to the author of the source material and the ultimate literary criticism. If a writer wants to know what worked in their piece, they need to read the fics that have been posted. That will tell them faster than anything else. Fanfic also allows readers to give immediate feedback to the writer. Knowing what worked in a chapter or what didn't can help writers hone their craft and sharpen their stories. I don't know how many times I've reconsidered my plans because of reviewers' interests or suggestions. And boy, do I love getting reviews. That's the payoff for writing fanfic. Somebody lets you know they're reading. It's especially great when they like it and are specific about what they like. So don't ever be stingy with reviews--not just with me, with everybody you read. AVATAR READERS: I'm a huge Zuko x Toph fan--as if you can't tell that from Land of Fire and Stone and Voice of the Earth. I was not satisified with Zuko and Mai ending up sort of together at the end of Season 3. I think Jet and Mai make a much more interesting couple. Yes, you heard me--Jet is not dead. He's alive and well and currently living in Omashu. Read Voice of the Earth if you don't believe me. I really like writing in this fandom and I am not done yet. Promise. EARTH 2 READERS: What is not to love about that show?! We got so robbed by just having one season. They never got a chance to explore all the hints they dropped, so I decided to just do it for them by writing Season 2. I wanted to play with all those ideas and strange notions--especially the ones that seemed a bit on the far fetched side at first glance ("Flower Child"? Oh, please--we all said--but I think it was far more important than it seemed). The time investment in getting Devon out of cold sleep had to be believable (plus Debrah Farentino needed maternity leave!) and there was so much to do with that whole biochip, mysterious illness thing. We couldn't just wrap that up deus ex machina style. Also, as much as I want Danziger and Devon to discover that they are made for each other, I just don't see that as being something that the series would have done quickly. So I'm not going to rush it either. It's more fun that way. Anyhow, I'll have to be back writing new stuff because I left Zeke (the OC ZED--I just love him!) unconscious. I can't just abandon him that way. And what do the two series have in common? You guessed it--Clancy Brown!! Clancy Brown provides the scary, but compelling voice of Long Feng in Ba Sing Se and also played curly haired mechanic John Danziger--I will stop there for fear of waxing eloquent. You don't know how hard it is not to write constantly about him. Man, I love Clancy Brown. If you see me on the Buckaroo Banzai fanfic lists, you'll know I'm writing about Rawhide--who is also not dead, trust me. FORGOTTEN REALMS: Artemis Entreri. 'Nuff said. Anyway, thanks for reading my stuff and sending me reviews. I look forward to feedback! Just knowing you're out there reading makes it that much more fun to do. So take a second and drop a note! | |||||||
