A public service message:

"Anyway, that's just how I feel about it . . . what do you think?"

(Daniel Jackson)

And now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Hello there!

Well, I've made it to four trilogies in my sweeping saga. Who would've thunk it when I started out?! At a total of over 350,000 words, I'm not even sure what to say any more... except it's a lot of writing (whether it's any good or not, who knows?)

I seem to have a who-ish space opera underway here. Since even I can't keep their freakin' order straight, here's the sequence in case you're interested (not including the one-shots):

1) Big Bang
2) Terraform
3) Evolution
4) Plague
5) Revelations
6) Vengeance
7) Prodigals
8) Abomination
9) Solipsism
10) Forgiveness
11) Stories
12) Love
13) Scars (watch for it)

And even though a parent isn't supposed to have a favorite child, I do have a favorite amongst that list. Not that I'd ever reveal which (besides it seems to keep changing).

I've been a Doctor Who fan since forever, and have watched every blessed episode at least five times, but Tennant is without a doubt the best Doctor (sorry, Tom, you've been replaced; but never mind I still love you!).

I also love Stargate (both of 'em, although nothing tops Jack O'Neill during the salad days of SG-1), most of the Star Treks (especially TNG), Farscape, Bab-5, and just about anything else categorized as "SciFi".

And I adore Torchwood, but that's probably obvious from my writing.

Hmm... my favorite scifi eps of all time? This is a list in progress and in no particular order:

1) Window of Opportunity (SG-1, "You run. Simulate. Let me know how it turns out. Keep me posted. Keep me apprised.")
2) Yesterday's Enterprise (TNG, "...an empty death - a death without purpose.")
3) Doomsday (DW)
4) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (TW, "Did ya miss me?")
5) Best of Both Worlds (TNG)
6) Crichton Kicks (Farscape)
7) The Christmas Invasion (DW, "Did ya miss me?")
8) Captain Jack Harkness (TW, "Live every night like it's your last.")
9) The Fifth Race (SG-1, "There is nothing cruvus with me.")
10) The Long Night (Bab-5, "Anyone wanna tell me how the hell we're supposed to stop that?")
11) Tao of Rodney (SG-Atlantis, "Nothing this great could ever happen to me without really, really bad consequences.")
12) Utopia (DW, "That's why I left you behind. It's not easy, just, just looking at you, Jack, 'cause you're wrong.")
13) The Last of the Time Lords (DW, "You're an impossible thing, Jack.")
...to be continued

I've watched 'The Mummy' at least a million times (God knows why), and 'Independence Day' and 'Men in Black' at least that many times. It seems I am easily amused... (this is a blessing not a curse).

I read a lot. For fun I read mostly science fiction (the hard stuff) and historical fiction plus a lot of real history. To be a better writer, read...

I have written plenty academically but have never written any fiction until here, now. I've found it almost disturbingly fun. Relaxing even. Perhaps the old saying is true and we all are proof: "Everyone has at least one good book in them".

My mom's maiden name was Harkness (really!) and her father immigrated to the U.S. from England. My grandfather was a Minister of God who traveled around the country with my grandma, their kids, and a portable pump organ (yes they exist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pump_organ), spreading The Word.

Now I guess I'm spreading a different kind of Word. Ain't life strange?

I hope you like what I've written and take the time to provide feedback if the spirit moves you. Those of you who have commented have helped me a lot -- I'm an improved writer because of you, and indeed you are (no matter how corny it sounds) the wind beneath my wings.

"Life is too important to be taken seriously." -- Oscar Wilde
