What's in a name?

Heyo. I'm Rainy, or Rainstar of LightningClan, if you prefer. Yeah...that's kind of a strange name, but, it's from the FOL(Forest of LightningClan) guild I'm in on Neopets. But, Basically, that's the only explanation I have of my pen name.

What About Me?

The number one answer you will always get if someone asked you about me is that I'm horse-crazy. And that goes for absolutely any stage in my life. I've always been obsessed with the four-legged beauties, and as I've gotten older, much to my parent's distress, I never grew out of it. They finally relented and got me my first horse shortly after my 13th birthday, a little over three years ago. He is, quite frankly, the love of my life. =3 His name is Dexter and he is a 15.2 hh, registered Quarter Horse, and a registered Lineback, Red Dun(Registered with the International Buckskin Horse Assoc.). We compete in a Warmblood and Thoroughbred World, in other words, English riding, where a QH is an odd site to see in an English arena, though they are becoming more and more common, at least in South Texas. We compete primarily in Equitation(where the rider is being judged on position, cues, etc.), Hunter(where the horse's movement and freedom in such is being judged), and Dressage, which is strictly flat(meaning no jumping) where a pattern is executed through a series of movments that are done in an arena line by letters(K-E-H-C-M-B-F). It is sometimes considered the ultimate connection between horse and rider because the horse has to be so in-tune to what the rider is telling them to truly get them to look their best and for them to look as if they are one entity. Dexter and I qualified for a national level competition through USPC-- United States Pony Club(essentially it's what 4H is to the Western World)--and this past summer we competed in USPC Championships at Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky!! It was some of the best fun I've ever had in my life and I met a lot of great people. In addition to that, we also got to ride in some awesome clinics during USPC Festival! It's definitely an experience I will never forget.

In the world of jumping, we ride in the two divisions I already mentioned, Equitation and Hunter. At the moment, we're competing at the 2'-2'6" jumping level, and schooling at the 3'-3'3" jumping level(those are the heights of the jumps). On occasion I used to ride a different horse, ironically, another QH. Her name was Shadow, and she was actually smaller than Dexter, but she has more "spring" to her, because with her we compete in the wild and crazy world of Jumpers. Jumpers are all about how fast? and how high? This little mare can turn on a dime and then jump 2'9"-3' oxers that are 2' wide. She's amazing, and she's FAST! She can get the horse-stride easily, and still have something left over. She's a great girl and I love her too. ;) However, I don't get to ride her anymore because we left the barn where her owner boarded her. I miss her everyday and I worry about her constantly, hoping that she's well.

And don't get me wrong, I love my baby boy(and to prove it, HERE is a picture from a few years ago when we Dexter and I were schooling), but I only have impressive pictures of Shadow and I jumping, because Dexter was lame all through this past summer, and when I was supposed to go to USPC Summer Camp(which is where these were taken), so instead, I had to take Shadow. But she was a saint. ;)

This past Summer(August 2011), I bought a new horse. A sweet, beautiful, Off the Track Thoroughbred named Carter. He's only four years old, but he turns five this next February. He is so amazing. Everyday he amazes me with how much he learns. He is also incredibly brave, and I love him to bits for it!

I got into Texas A&M University at College Station. Aggies class of 2016 baby!! :D
In addition, after completng college, I plan on going into Equine Veterinary Medicine. Both of my parents are Small Animals Veterinarians, but my dad owns a practice that also treats Large Animals(horses, cattle, goats, etc.) I've learned a lot just by working at his clinic and by being around the terminology and pathology/diagnosis. I really look forward to one day owning my own practice and working on horses everyday, and even having a surgery bay for horses, like the one at Texas A & M University, College Station, TX. UPDATES:

12/21/2011-I'm trying to get my writings up to date, but no promises at the moment. I have a lot going on with college and such. :/

12/24/10-I have recently devoted most of my writings to the fandom for the movie "Glory," and have since posted two fanfictions, with the intention to continue "True Character" at least for a couple of more chapters.
I have also updated "A Colorless Flame," and plan to keep up with regular updates, should my schedule allow.
"Hidden Desires" is on an interminable hiatus because of lack of interest in the fandom. I apologize to any/all people who were following it. If you still want to read Wrestling fics by my, check out the next little update on "MoK."
"Meanings of Kisses"- I will try to actually finish this one, despite my lack of interest in the fandom, but the pairings may not be as "up to date" with whatever is the current "fad" in the Wrestling fandom, they will more than likely also not follow current storylines/allinances/rivalries and will not include anything post the dissolution of ECW, ie: no people from NXT.

I'm trying to keep on a regular writing schedule, as I've found it helps me to chill out and get my brain back in working order, however, I make no promises because sometimes Real Life gets in the way. (;
