I don't really get obsessed over anything, so my obsession with ACROSS THE UNIVERSE caught me off guard. But I can't help it.
I love, love, love, love, love that movie.
My favorite characters:
Jude: Okay, first of all, he's from Liverpool, which means he has that oh-so-sexy accent. And second of all, he's an artist, which means he has that oh so sexy attitude. And he has the voice of an angel, which just adds to his oh-so-sexiness.
Favorite quote: I'm sorry I'm not the man with the megaphone, but this is what I do! (yeah, you tell Lucy how it is!)
Max: Who doesn't love that cutie pie? I'm just attracted to the funny guys. And when his hair all shaggy and in his face, ooooooohhh weeee. Sexxxxxxyyyyy. And his voice is all raspy and stuff, which is just hot beyond reason.
Favorite quote: No, no, uncle Teddy--WHO YOU ARE DEFINES WHAT YOU DO! (yeah, you tell Uncle Teddy how it is!)
Prudence: She seems to be a really over looked character. I don't know why, but I think she's really, really awesome for some reason. But it could just be me.
Favorite quote: Tell them you want to RAPE and PILLAGE all the little girls who look like me. (yeah, Prudence, you go ahead and freak out everybody at your table!)
Lucy: Well, she just shares some of the same ideas as me, and I respect that. And okay, maybe I am oober jealous of her because she has a hot boyfriend and brother, but still, she seems like a cool person.
Favorite quote: Maybe when bombs start going off here, people will listen! (yeah Lucy you tell Jude how it is!)
Sadie: Anybody who can sing like that with hair like that has to be AWESOME.
Favorite quote: No, baby, I don't need you. And I'm gonna show you.. (yeah you tell JoJo how it is...like even though he can't hear you!)
JoJo: He's got a good voice...and he's got the 'fro. And you can't say no to the 'fro.
Favorite quote: Music is the only thing that makes sense anymore. Play it loud enough, it'll keep the demons at bay. (you speak the truth)
Desmond: Caveman hair is sexy. Don't you forget it.
BEST COUPLES:
Jude/Lucy: Of course I had to put them. They're the ideal couple. Of course they had their differences, but honestly, they were in love with each other from the moment they met. You can tell there's so much more to them than just "I love you." Best couple ever. (Jucy for life!)
Sadie/JoJo: Seriously, they're the coolest, hippest couple. I don't know why, but I just know they're never gonna have kids but they're gonna be like the "cool" grown ups that all the kids are like "Hey, can we go to Sadie and JoJo's house?" xD I have a wicked imagination. (SoJo for life!)
Max/Jude: At first, I was sort of iffy about these two, but after reading a few Max/Jude fics and watching the movie a couple more times (much more closely) I realized that they are pretty much a very good couple, mostly because of the way they just seem to mesh..they complete each other!
Of course, I can quote scenes like THAT. Some of my favorite scenes are:
Katz's Delicatessen Scene
Jude: My mate's brother swallowed a ball of cotton to get out of the army.
Max: Well, what the hell does that do?
Jude: It shows up as, like, a shadow on the X-RAY.
Sadie: Track marks, man! They're not going to take a junkie.
Desmond: You want him to shoot up?
Sadie: Of course I don't want him to shoot up, but you know, he could just jab a needle in his arms a few times..
JoJo: No, if you make it rusty needle, it'll get infected! (ohmygod, I don't know why, but everytime he says that, I start rolling on the floor laughing.)
The Conversation Before Mr. Kite's Carnival
Max: Great, my last blowout before the army, and we're in the middle of...where are we, huh?
Lucy: It doesn't matter. I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
Jude: That's right, you're so right. And if everybody's nobody, then that means everybody can be somebody, right?
Lucy: Shh! Do you hear the music? -Giggles-
Max: Where are we going?
Lucy: We're going out of our minds!
Jude: Wait, where are you taking me?
Lucy: Down the rabbit hole!
Jude: I wanna feed the cow!
Here are some ATU Fics that I totally reccomend:
Sharks in the Water :This was just one of the most touching and beautiful Max/Jude fics I've read. Really, it tugs at your heartstrings.
Dizzy Miss Lizzy: Another beautiful Across the Universe fic, and believe me, this is the first fic to make me cry, and it's amazing, and the author intergrated so many Beatle-isms into it. Really, really touching.
Eleanor Rigby: in this story, Max finally finds somebody to love, and it's really, really sweet and angsty at times, and it's practically the same Across the Universe story, just told through the perspective of Ellie (though sometimes it switches to Max's, Jude's, and Lucy's point of view)
When You Dance: Now THIS author is definitely thinking outside the box: she created a story that intertwines the romantic story of Max, Jude, and Lucy. You definitely have to read this one to understand what I'm talking about.
With A Little Help From My Friends: So everyone seems to be making a Max/Jude with that title, but this one is wonderfully written and it doesn't rush things and it's just the perfect Max/Jude
