Author has written 2 stories for South Park, and West Wing. Formerly known as Velvet Starlight, which was too simple and specific and proper-looking for me, I suppose. Yeah, I'm weird that way. Now about myself. I usually write fanfiction for TV shows, so some other great shows I love and love writing for are The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, MASH, The X-Files, The West Wing, and Star Trek (TOS or TNG). I also like to write for Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Star Wars, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Superman and Batman (mostly The Dark Knight) Just so you know, the most amazing creation of fiction in the galaxy is the comic strip Peanuts. I cannot even begin to describe why it's so glorious: that's a topic for philosophers. But if you read as little as a few dozen strips from the 1960-70's, and watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas", you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Anyway, here's a neater list of my interests: (Yes, I put friendships in here too. What the hell is wrong with people who think romantic relationships are somehow more important or better than friendships? Often times, friendships define the characters much better because they're less constrained by what's expected by the audience.) The Simpsons Favorite episode: Probably "Lisa's Wedding". Other favorite episodes: Really, way too many to list. Favorite Character: The whole Simpson Family Other Favorite Characters: Uhh...most of the ones created before season 10. Pet Peeves: Maude Flanders' death, Armin Tamzarian, seasons 10 and on. Favorite Celebrity appearance: Leonard Nimoy Favorite Pairings: Homer/Marge Carl/Lenny, Burns/Smithers Favorite friendships/other relationships: Bart & Lisa Notes: Wow. There is so much crap on this site, in this category, that I can't even believe it. And good stories are very, very few. I adore family-centric stories, usually plotless stuff, because that's what comedies give rise to. It's very hard to write a convincing plotty story in a sitcom category, although it is doable. South Park Favorite Episode: Scott Tenormen Must Die Other Favorite Episodes: Trapped in the Closet, The Passion of the Jew, Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants, Imaginationland I,II&III, Cartoon Wars I&II, Margaritaville, Fat Butt and Pancake Head, The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000, With Apologies to Jesse Jackson, Cartmanland, Simpsons Already Did It, 200, 201, Death, The Jeffersons, Red Sleigh Down, Kenny Dies Favorite Character: Cartman Other Favorite Characters: Stan, Kyle Kenny...lots more...will add to this later Pet Peeves: The fuck is with the inconsistency of season 11 on? Pet Fanfic Peeves: Stan/Kyle, Way too much slash (I like slash, but jesus talk about an overdose...), stories where the kids are teenagers (because these are so prolific they get on my nerves), stories where the situation is all realistic and non-South Park-y. Favorite Pairings: Cartman/Kyle - but only if it's evil and sick enough. Cartman/Wendy Favorite friendships/other relationships: Stan & Kyle, Kyle & Ike, Stan & Randy, Cartman & Kenny But the few really good stories make it all worth it. I love evil Cartman stories more than anything else. Futurama Favorite Character: Fry Other favorite characters: Like, all of them? I'll get back to this... Favorite Episode: Jurassic Bark Other Favorite Episodes: Godfellas, The Luck of the Fryrish, The Sting, Time Keeps on Slippin', Three Hundred Big Boys, Roswell That Ends Well, War is the H-Word, Parasites Lost, The Farnsworth Parabox, Amazon Women in the Mood, Hell is Other Robots, Space Pilot 3000, The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings. Pet Peeves: the goddamn godforsaken godawful movies...except for Into the Wild Green Yonder. Pet Fanfic Peeves: plotty crap, sappy crap, stories where Fry and Leela get together without any resistance, stories about the past that aren't miserably sad. Favorite Pairings: Fry/Leela, Amy/Kif Favorite friendships/other relationships: Fry & Bender, Leela & Bender, Fry & Farnsworth, Hermes & Farnsworth, Zapp & Kif, Zoidberg & everyone Notes: Like the Simpsons, I don't like plotty stories in this category unless they're really well done - I usually prefer character pieces/musings/idea based things. MASH Favorite Character: Radar Other Favorites: Hawkeye, Trapper, Henry, Potter, BJ, Margaret, Klinger, Charles, Father Mulcahey, Sidney, Flagg. Favorite Episode: Abyssinia Henry Other Favorite Episodes: Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen, Dear Sigmund, Sometimes Your Hear The Bullet, Aid Station, OR, Dreams, The Army-Navy Game, The Late Captain Pierce, Dr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde, Ceasefire, Kim, The Deluge, Mail Call Again, The Most Unforgettable Characters, A Full Rich Day, War of Nerves, The Nurses, Comrades in Arms I&II, Your Hit Parade, The Winchester Tapes, The General Flipped At Dawn, Welcome To Korea, Fallen Idol, Fade Out, Fade In, It Happened One Night...many more that I can't think of. Favorite pairings: Hawkeye/Margaret Favorite friendships/other relationships: Henry & Radar, Potter & Margaret, Hawkeye & BJ, Hawkeye & Trapper, Hawkeye & Radar Pet Peeves: Seasons 8-11, stupid quirky sitcom crap from the first season, when they were struggling to figure out how to pull off something this groundbreaking. Many of my favorite episodes are from the first season, though, so go figure. Pet Fanfic Peeves: sappy, gooey Hawkeye/Margaret where he isn't a goofoff and she isn't a brat. Notes: This fandom is strange in its effects. You see, I despise watching the episodes from after Radar left, but fics where Radar left, and all that stuff, are just fine with me. This is of course totally because of the setting of this show - episodes are boring without Radar, but there's nothing inherently bad about him leaving in the slightest. given that its a war - but still, I thought I'd mention its uniqueness. In this category, I adore angst - obviously, since it's in a war. I also love war-related plotty stories. And black humor, because MASH is made of black humor. The West Wing Favorite Character: Leo Other Favorite Characters (no order): Jed, Toby, CJ, Josh, Sam, Charlie, Donna, Abbey (now in order): Mrs. Landingham, Ainsley, Danny, Joey, Margaret, Bruno, Fitzwallace, Debbie, Andi, Nancy, Ed & Larry, Will (before he got fucked up after Sorkin left) Favorite Episode: In the Shadow of Two Gunmen I&II Other Favorite Episodes (in no order): Celestial Navigation, Let Bartlet Be Bartlet, Bartlet For America, 100,000 Airplanes, In Excelsis Deo, Evidence of Things Not Seen, Stirred, What Kind of Day Has It Been?, Two Cathedrals, In This White House, And It's Surely To Their Credit, Dead Irish Writers, Noel, Galileo, A Proportional Response, Ways and Means, Gone Quiet, Night Five, Mandatory Minimums, The Crackpots and These Women, The U.S. Poet Laureate, The Midterms, Bartlet's Third State of the Union/The War At Home, War Crimes, College Kids, Posse Comitatus, 20 Hours in America I&II, Election Night, Game On, Debate Camp, Commencement, Inauguration I & II:OT Favorite Pairings: Josh/Donna, Toby/Andi, CJ/Danny, Sam/Ainsley, Josh/Joey, Charlie/Zoey, Sam/Will, Donna/Amy Favorite friendships/other relationships (in vague order): Jed & Leo, CJ & Toby, Josh & Sam, Leo & Josh, Jed & Charlie, Josh & CJ, - but really, any combination of the senior staff makes me warm and fuzzy. I think of them as a semi-nuclear family, so it's hard to say that I definitively like such and such a friendship more than another - these are just things that I really gravitate towards because they're the ones that are more focused on in the show. Pet Peeves: JOHN WELLS, Sam's departure, the way the MS arc was handled after the first few episodes of season 3, JOHN WELLS, Too much Josh/Donna takeover/melodrama, "The Women of Qumar", JOHN WELLS, everything that occurred in the absence of Aaron Sorkin, Qumar-takover during reelection (they should have waited for it to bite them in the ass later on and focused on the campaign! GAH! Aaron writes amazingly, but he needed some fucking guidance), JOHN WELLS, the trail-off of Ainsley Hayes, too much Josh/Amy screentime (not that it wasn't great, but you've got to prioritize man! Especially when taking the other events in the timeline into consideration!), that...unspeakable...thing Toby did that never ever happened no matter what anyone says, JOHN WELLS -- can you tell I hate John Wells? Pet Fanfic Peeves: At least half, but probably more like two-thirds, of everything here is Josh/Donna. Don't get me wrong, I adore Josh/Donna, but can someone write about something else for a change? Political stories written by people who know nothing about politics. OOC stuff. CJ/Toby - absolutely adore their friendship, but hate, hate, hate the pairing with a burning passion. Actually they're just my pet because they clog the archive like an unpleasant bacterial infection, (even more so than the avalanche of bad Josh/Donna fic, because there is such a thing as amazingly good Josh/Donna fic, whereas I have yet to read a non-crack CJ/Toby fic that made me suspend my disbelief for even a second), but any combination of Jed, Leo, Toby, CJ, Josh, Sam and Charlie gives me squicky incest vibes. Except for Jed/Leo, which squicks me for a different reason, since they do sorta act like they're married. Also, anything that considers seasons 5-7 strict canon. Notes: As far as I'm concerned, season 5-7 never happened. In my little universe, the show ended with "25" (it used to end with "Evidence of Things Not Seen", to end on an epic note, and skip the melodramatic Zoey thing and the unsatisfying Hoynes thing, but ejecting something as good as the last eight minutes of "Commencement" from canon must be a federal crime). So to me, in the West Wing universe, everything that happened after the Zoey cliffhanger, especially the crap with Toby, is non-canon with the exception, perhaps, of "The Supremes". This may sound a tad immature, but really, what Wells did was just crappy fanfiction that unfortunately was written and proposed by people who had access to an NBC studio and loads of money. So just pretend that everything I write in this category was written while season 4 was airing and I didn't know how the show would end. Because to be honest, I kinda purged the non-Sorkin seasons from my mind. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Favorite Character: Willow Other favorite characters: Buffy, Spike, Giles, Angel, Xander, Anya, Oz, Tara...like, almost everyone, although I hated Riley and Kennedy with a passion. Favorite Episode: The Zeppo Other Favorite Episodes: The Wish, Becoming I&II, Graduation Day I&II, What's My Line I&II, Doppelgangland, Choices, Amends, Consequences, Band Candy, Earshot, Passion, Surprise/Innocence, The Body, Blood Ties, Spiral, Once More With Feeling...like, a load of others. Favorite Pairings: Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, Spike/Angel (y'know, Buffy/Angel/Spike would be my OT3 ;)), Willow/Oz, Xander/Anya Harry Potter Favorite character: can't choose Other Favorite characters: The Marauders (+Lily), the Trio, the Twins, the rest of the Weasleys, Dumbledore, McGonagall, Hagrid, Snape, Neville, the founders, Moody. Favorite pairings (in vague order) Lily/James, Ron/Hermione, Dumbledore/Grindelwald, Harry/Ginny, Harry/Luna, Luna/Neville, Harry/Twins Favorite book: Prisoner of Azkaban, by a long shot. Rest of Books (in order): Order of the Phoenix, Goblet of Fire, Chamber of Secrets, Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows. Pet Peeves: The Marauders' ages, the fact that Harry never talked to snakes, half, no, most of DH, pureblood kids in muggle clothing, the size of the school/student body, JKR's mathfail, the epilogue (it's the style I didn't like, not the content). Star Trek: TOS Favorite Character: Spock Other Favorite Characters: Kirk, McCoy...lets just say everyone, okay? Favorite Episode: City on the Edge of Forever Other Favorite Episodes: The Trouble With Tribbles, Amok Time, Mirror, Mirror, The Corbomite Maneuver, Where No Man Has Gone Before, A Piece of the Action, The Tholian Web, Patterns of Force, The Changeling, The Immunity Syndrome...some others. Pet Peeves: miniskirts, rubber aliens, the third season. Favorite Pairings: Kirk/Spock, Scotty/Uhura Favorite friendships/other relationships: Spock & McCoy, Kirk & Spock (I'm not going to ignore the fact that they'd make amazing platonic friends), Kirk & McCoy Star Trek: TNG Favorite Character: Data Other Favorite Characters: Picard, Riker, Beverly, Geordi, Q, Guinan, O'Brien Favorite Episode: The Best of Both Worlds I&II Other Favorite Episodes: I really couldn't list them all. Favorite pairings: Picard/Beverly, Picard/Q, Riker/Troi, Riker/Worf Favorite friendships/other relationships: Data & Geordi, Picard & Data, Picard & Riker, Beverly & Riker, Q & Data, Guinan & everybody Pet Peeves: stupid godawful first season... Pet Fanfic Peeves: Do people know how to write stories that aren't all Riker/Troi? No? Just a few? Damnit! Star Trek: DS9 Favorite Character: Sisko Other Favorite Characters: Kira, Quark...actually, everybody else, when I think about it. Favorite episode: Far Beyond the Stars and In the Cards Other Favorites: Trials and Tribble-ations, In the Pale Moonlight, The Visitor, Duet, Call To Arms, In Purgatory's Shadow/By Inferno's Light, Civil Defense, Body Parts, Our Man Bashir, Looking For Par'Mach in All the Wrong Places, The Search I&II, The House of Quark, Little Green Men, Crossover, Visionary, Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast, Whispers, Hard Time, Heart of Stone, Waltz, Who Mourns for Morn? You are Cordially Invited, Sacrifice of Angels...many others, since I have not seen quite enough of the show yet. Favorite Pairings: Odo/Kira, Garak/Bashir Favorite Other Relationships: Sisko & Dax, Odo & Quark, O'Brien & Bashir, Jake & Nog, Quark and, like, everyone ever. The X-Files Favorite Character: Mulder and Scully, perfect tie. Other Favorite Characters: Skinner, CSM, The Lone Gunmen, Deep Throat, Senator Matheson, Mr. X, William Mulder. Favorite Episode: Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' Other Favorite Episodes: Dreamland I & II, The Unnatural, Triangle, Deep Throat, EBE, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, The Erlenmeyer Flask, Tempus Fugit/Max, One Breath, Three of a Kind, Leonard Betts, Bad Blood, Small Potatoes, Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip, a lot more...I adore half the mytharc episodes and hate the other half. Favorite Pairings: Mulder/Scully, Mulder/Krycek, Skinner/CSM (again, only if it's sick and evil), Scully/Frohike (don't ask) Favorite Frienships/other relationships: Skinner & Scully, Mulder & Scully (I'm not hyped on the pairing, I just like it. Friendship is equally acceptable to me), Mulder & any Lone Gunman, Scully & any Lone Gunman, Mulder & CSM. Pet Peeves: The Chris Carter Effect. Look it up on TV Tropes. Not that I don't adore the mythology, because I do, but... Pet Fanfic Peeves: Fluffy Mulder/Scully bullcrap, people writing Scully all girly and giggly. That gives me nightmares, folks. Notes: None yet From Desdemona Kakalose: Gay marriage: 2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. 5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed. 6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children. 7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America. 9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children. 10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans... -- That's it for my bitching. And please, please, check out my favorites. I promise that other than the occasional little sentimental pleasure or stupid scrawl that I like for some reason, they're all really, really, really good, carefully selected stories. | |||||||
