Author has written 11 stories for Sky High, Harry Potter, Tomcat in Love, Merlin, and StarTrek: Deep Space Nine.
4/22/13:two more chapters of RIOT GRRRL MANIFESTO have been added. Also revamped my profile just because I can -- aka updated the "guide to my stories" part. Also edited/revamped the sign said stop!!!
4/20/13: Guess what, bitches? I don't belong here IS FINISHED! You guys don't realise what a big deal this is. Also published the first two chapters of RIOT GRRRL MANIFESTO, which maybe is lame of me since I should be updating brave new world or lady of shalott or something...but what can I say? My muse follows no one's rules but its own.
As if anyone really reads bios, but in case you're interested...
SARA: 20-something, catholic, smithie, anarchist, intellectual, feminis, austenite, pilgrim, and dreamer.
I'm a bit nutty, but mostly I mean well. I RP, I have an affinity for Mountain Dew, Monster energy drinks, and Polar seltzer water. My favorite food is anything buffalo chicken themed. I study history, specifically Soviet and Russian history. Netflix is my life partner. My favorite movie is While You Were Sleeping and I watch it wayyy too often. I have no real life plans for when I finish my undergrad degree in December. I'm a proud alumna of the National Forensic League; I'm a proud Buckeye, as well as an adopted Mancunian and lover of the Bay State. I am currently doing a stint abroad at Manchester Uni in the UK & I'll soon share an alma mater with the likes of Sylvia Plath, Gloria Steinem, and the fictional Ainsley Hayes of the West Wing. I also love INK way too much, on me (nine and counting), and on other people.
The most important thing to know about me as a writer is that I'm freakishly sporadic, great with ideas, but horrible at finishing them. I don't write filler chapters well, so I'm trying this new thing where I do collections of one shots instead of full chaptered fics. I also am usually busy writing academic shit, so don't expect frequent updates from me -- you will be disappointed. As you might be able to tell from my stories and my favorited stories, I also have an affinity for OCs and AUs. I like looking at things from an alternate perspective, what can I say?
Fandoms I like to read/write in: Harry Potter, Criminal Minds, Star Wars, ROSWELL, Star Trek: 2009, Star Trek: DS9, X-Men, Sky High, LOTR, Inheritance Cycle, and BBC Merlin, along with a few other more random ones.
Favorite TV: The West Wing, Veronica Mars, The Secret Circle, Firefly, Star Trek: TOS, Star Trek: DS9, Star Trek: Voyager, Doctor Who, Rizzoli & Isles, American Pickers, Seinfeld, Ken Burns: The West, Ken Burns: The Civil War, Ken Burns: ANYTHING, & Nova.
Music: Women who rock (ie Liz Phair, Bikini Kill, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Patti Smith, etc), classic rock, folk rock, 90's grungey goodness, fight the power rock, some country, some hip-hop/r&b, gershwin & other showtune-y broadway stuffs, etc.
A Guide to My Stories
Stores that are IN PROGRESS:
weather girl (you are the queen of my world): SKY HIGH. This is the one story you can count of me forcing myself to continue. I've been working on this story, writing and rewriting, for like nine years so I'm going to finish this bitch if it's the last thing I do. No matter how long it goes without an update, take heart, because there will eventually be one. SENKA POE (OC) has been in love with Warren Peace for, well...forever. As a senior, a series of changes causes her to reconsider pretty much her entire life and nothing is like she thought it would be. Especially with Warren. Currently LASHOC, & no matter how much I have become attached to that pairing, it will eventually be WARRENOC. PROJECT REVAMP was completed as of August 5th, 2012.
brave new world: STAR TREK: DS9. This story is a collection of snippets/drabbles/whatevers about JAN (OC). One minute she is jumping out of a friend's car and crossing the street, but then it all goes to hell...or technically, Deep Space Nine.
the lady of shalott: BBC'S MERLIN. This is my attempt at bringing Tennyson and other Arthurian legend surrounding Elaine of Astolat into the BBC-Merlin-verse. It only has one more chapter that is half written, though I'm struggling to write it. Nobody in Camelot could really say they ever took much notice of Elaine of Astolat, until one newly knighted Sir Lancelot smiles at her from across the way. Her life is forever changed. Set in seasons 1, 3, and 4. Unrequited sort-of-OC, contains character death.
RIOT GRRRL MANIFESTO: HARRY POTTER. My latest foray into "how to craft a fic that I can finish that still properly tells a story." Kathryn (OC) only wanted a couple of things out of life: to get away from the Dursleys, to do something memorable, to graduate...but more than anything? She just really wanted to be something other than 'Harry Potter's little sister.' These are her adventures. AU. Rated for future chapters.
Stories which have been deemed temporarily, or perhaps forever, on HIATUS:
Happiness is Not a Riddle: HARRY POTTER. Centered around my OC, Rosalind, and is currently being considered to undergo a PROJECT REVAMP. MWPP. Rosalind Barlow receives a diary for her seventeenth birthday and proceeds to name it "Nora" for no particular reason. Nora becomes witness to her friendships, losses, and even some love on Rosalind's search for herself. RemusOC.
Stories which have been deemed DISCONTINUED:
I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You: Currently contains two chapters and let's be honest, this is probably not gonna go any further. Mary Eleanor (OC) always had a thing for older men, and certainly never had a problem getting a man of any kind. But even she didn't expect to fall head over heels in lust with her new Professor, and even less for him to say 'no'. RemusOC. Discontinued, possibly forever.
Stories which are ONE SHOTS, ordered by which ones I like best:
They Carried Their Memories: TOMCAT IN LOVE though technically it's THE THINGS THEY CARRIED. Creative writing assignment from ages ago that was based on THE THINGS THEY CARRIED by the brilliant Tim O'Brien. Follows two students at one run-down, urban high school and how they think about the future.
Priceless: HARRY POTTER. Someone commented that the nameless girl in this story is Moaning Myrtle but UM NOOO it is not. It was written pre-HBP and is thus non-compliant with anything we learned about Horcruxes then. It was my attempt at how TMR could have gotten immortal. She would die, all her beauty and loveliness and her vibrant smile, so he could live. Nothing comes for free, especially this. Hints of unrequited TMROC. One-shot. Warning: violence.
I AM MORGANA: BBC'S MERLIN. Morgana-centric short n' sweet oneshot, inspired by badass portrayals of Morgana Le Fey. Written immediately after S2E12 and revamped in fall 2012. The Great Dragon called her a 'simple witch,' Gaius tried to stifle her budding powers, and they saw her as a pawn in the scheme of others. They all, at one time or another, underestimated her. It would be her greatest strength.
the sign said stop but we went on whole-hearted: SKY HIGH. Companion/sort-of-preque piece to weather girl & it takes last place because I really need to go back and do some editing. Marianne Poe, code-name "Sibyl", muses about her late husband, the famous Storm Starter.
Stories that have been COMPLETED (hallelujah!):
I don't belong here: HARRY POTTER. Funky, experimental piece about how PP goes from bffs with some of the most beloved characters in the fandom to one of the most hated and reviled members of said fandom. Canon compliant. Petter Pettigrew: Stupid boy, foolish boy, coward, hero-worshipper, and rat. Except there is always so much more. A look into Peter's life, because fanfic authors are quite like Vonnegut's Tralfamadorians - we see in four dimensions. rated for language.
