Hi everyone! I've been visiting regularily for a while and decided to join! I am a thirty two year old (Canadian) single mother of a two year old adorable little guy named Garratt who has Down Syndrome. He is the light of my life and a source of such fun, love and joy. I was married, but the husband took off because he didn't want a special needs child. We didn't know anything was wrong until the baby was a month old and not meeting certain milestones.
I am a huge CSI: NY fan! I adore Flack. How can you not love those amazing blue eyes and that smile. Eddie Cahill is too die for. I am a big fan of his. I have to admit though, when I first started watching in the first season, I had a massive thing for Danny. Once Flack cut his hair, that was it.
I am a creative writing buff. The stories here are fantastic. I am really enjoying Aphina's work on both Miracle and Devine Intervention. Great stuff! I am a print journalism graduate and enjoy good writing on both fact and fiction sides of the scale.
I look forward to reading more and posting here. Anyone wants to chat, send me an e-mail.
I am a big supporter of inclusion of all people with disabilities. I like to educate others on my son's developmental disability so they can understand that while he may seem different or talk different or learn at a slower pace, he still deserves to be a welcome member of society.
CREED OF BABIES WITH DOWN SYNDROME
My face may be different but my feelings the same./ I laugh and I take pride in my gains/ I was sent here among you to teach you to love/ as God in the heavens looks down from above./ To Him I'm no different/ His love knows no bounds/ Its those here among you in cities and towns/ that judge me by standards that man has imparted/ but this family I've chosen will help me get started/ For I'm one of the children so special and few/ that have come here to learn the same lessons as you/ that love is acceptance, it must come from the heart/ we all have the same purpose, though not the same start./ The Lord gave me life to live and embrace/ and I'll do it as you do/ Just as my own pace.
