Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter. Dabbler at life. I can't seem to settle my time on any one thing, because too many things catch my attention. As well as working full-time, I try my hand at singing (mediaeval chant), writing (help yourself to my fics, but I promise nothing), painting (oils, although I did watercolors long ago and rather enjoyed them), cooking (I have to cook, so it's nice that I like it, for the most part), gardening (you just try growing tomatoes at over 7000'), fishing (fly-fishing), running. I always feel that I'm passably good at everything I do without ever excelling at anything. Perhaps this is due to lack of application on my part, but I tend to think that the lack of application is a result of being only passably good at things, not a cause, which is a nice, convenient excuse for me never to apply myself. I discovered fanfic not long ago. I don't know that I'd be interested in fanfic for many stories or series, but the Harry Potter stories are both very compelling and rather unsatisfying, which make them addictive to try to write for. Also, I was distressed at JKR's treatment of Snape (and of her portrayal of Dumbledore in books 6 and 7, whom I had rather liked til then, but that is neither here nor there), and he's such a fascinating and moving character that I keep wanting to fix what she messed up, so I keep trying to write stories about him. Not that I've written many, and they're mostly short. I find that taking myself seriously is one of the hardest things for me to do, and to some extent it's a relief to write little stories where I can take other people seriously, and not feel utterly melodramatic. Still, I am sure I will write some things purely to satisfy my sense of the ridiculous. | |||||||
