I'm an almost thirty year old stay at home mom and wife. And I love to read. I am writing a couple of books right now, but they aren't fanfictions. I do however, love reading fanfiction. I could spend entirely too much time reading fanfiction in fact...there are always more terrific stories to find. I feel I should probably be honest that I also have one Twilight fanfiction that I've started writing. I don't know yet if I want to finish it, which is why I haven't posted it. We'll just have to wait and see.

I found fanfiction as a means to stem my Twilight appetite after reading all three books (this was pre-Breaking Dawn) at least four times each in as many months. I didn't realize that this entire fiction world existed and I was completely unaware. It wasn't long before I branched into the world of Harry Potter too. I've been cruising around here now for about eight months and have read hundreds of fanfictions. Sadly, I'm not exaggerating. I think I need to get a life...though I swear I have one, so maybe I just need to get more sleep (reading is always more pleasant in the middle of the night when small hands and mouths are tucked safely and quietly into bed).

This year has been an interesting one and I think I understand myself better because of it. I have finally been able to put words to a deeply routed passion of mine- stories and the art of storytelling. I've always loved books, theater, film, television, songs, and art, but I haven't always known why. I never realized how all of those things truly have one thing in common- stories (and of course the telling of them). Storytelling is not just something we do for little kids. We (people of all kinds) thrive because of stories. They are lessons for life. They bring clarity of thought, creativity, hope, and a myriad of emotion. So much is found in a story...and everyone finds solace in stories; we just don't all realize it. So, fanfiction authors- what a powerful tool you weild. To craft a story is to create an essence that will inevitably change a life, even if that life is only yours. However, many, many of you have changed mine and for that I say, "Thank you!" I have laughed, I have cried, I have bounced with giddiness, I have even cursed in despair, and I have sighed in hope. Thank you for all you have given me.
