Getting to know your friendly neighborhood, creepily fanatical author a little better...

Books: Tales of the Otori, Ender's Game, Catcher in the Rye, The Princess Bride, Memoirs of a Geisha, White Orleander and The Cider House Rules. Gulity Pleasure: Janet Evanovich novels.

Movies: Advent Children (duh), Ever After, Kissing Jessica Stein, Snow White: Tale of Terror, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Aliens and the Princess Bride. Guilty Pleasure: Any pre-2001 Disney Animated Film (I can't help it...that kennel scene in Lady and the Tramp still makes me cry.)

TV Shows: House, Blackadder, (a Hugh Laurie fan much?) Sex and the City, and all Joss Whedon series. Guilty Pleasures: Many - Gilmore Girls and (may it rest in peace) Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Manga: Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Absolute Boyfriend, Imakodi Nowadays (basically, anything by Yuu Watase). Guilty Pleasure: Sensual Phrase (dumbest plot ever...but -shrug- the main character is a sex machine.)

Anime: Fushigi Yuugi, Please Teacher, Strawberry Eggs, Victorian Romance Emma and Cowboy Bebop. Guilty Pleasure: None. They're all already pretty bad as is.

Music: Experimental Electronica such as: Imogen Heap, Sneaker Pimps, Massive Attack, and Metric. And Rock such as: Linkin Park, Stabbing Westward, Bush, Perfect Circle and 30 seconds to Mars. Guilty Pleasure: Sarah McLachlan (Can't you tell? My freakin most popular fic is named after one of her songs : S.) and some old-school Madonna. I miss the early 90's.

Games: To sum up: All Final Fantasies (except IX...wasn't too big a fan of that. Nor XI with that online craze), Legend of Zelda, Shawdow Hearts, Kingdom Hearts, Xenosaga and .Hack. Guilty Pleasure: Watching and editing and re-viewing every single Final Fantasy VIII and X FMV waaaaaaay too much.

PEN NAME CHANGE: Hope this doesn't cause too many problems for people but I decided to change my pen name. "Mayonaka" was always meant to be a shortened version of "Mayonaka no Heiko" (Midnight Equilibrium) - a ninja/geisha character from one of my favorite Japan-set historical novels (which nowadays I can't even remember the name of...something Sparrows). BUT that penname was already taken when I joined here back in 1998 and is still.

Mayonaka no Ame is, yes, the name of a popular Japanese TV-show, but also I'd like to think of it as my Geisha name if I were ever to get one. Mayonaka, as always, referring to the qualities of darkness and Ame, Rain, being both my mother's name, a final fantasy character's name (:P) and just a state of nature I enjoy.

Another reason is to attempt anonymity. I've never kept my fanfiction writing a secret from my friends mainly because I knew they found it odd (especially for someone my age now - 22! ahh!) and would most probably never ever bother to look it up let alone read it. But some people put the pieces together - fanfiction.net, Mayonaka (a nickname I use for my video editing and "mayonaka productions" when I made films) and of course all my personal info here is real - and mocked me for some exagerrations I had posted here in the past. So I'm now gonna try to keep my fanfiction writing completely separate from my real life if possible and remove personal author's notes. Its two different worlds after all. New nickname, fresh slate.

Remember the penny arcade "Internet Dickwad Theory": "normal person" + "anonymity" + "audience" = "Total Dickwad". I'm gonna attempt to not be that dickwad now that I'm in my twenties and have no excuse :P.

December Musings: Though I'm currently working as a 3D artist, my dream job would be to write witty and sappy romantic comedy novels all day. Fanfiction is my testing ground so please, please, PLEASE review and state your opinion. I've learnt many important things here such as "for all intensive purposes" is actually "for all intents and purposes". Good to know lol. The critiques that will keep publishers from laughing at me are gold.
