Troy Denning; Star by Star and Tatooine Ghost, Dark Nest Trilogy and a few books in the Legacy of the Force series. Has a penchant for the feel of Star Wars as well as writing absolutely brutal fight scenes.

J.R.R. Tolkien; Lord of the Rings, nuff said.

Karen Traviss with her Republic Commando series is an extremely hardcore millitary fiction author who writes her soldiers with a grim realism that just makes you proud of your armed forces.

Aaron Allston who brings twisted humor to the Star Wars universe. Killer Ewoks, nuff said.

Fav. FF.NET Authors: Sholio; Sand and Light and Ki Blind are my favs. though she doesn't update here anymore. . . Rhianwen; who doesn't love the former blue priest? (or was that yellow?) Dreamsinger; Only Stone on the Outside is one of the best, if not the best, Slayers fic I have ever read. DQBunny, who manages to write utterly convincing characterizations and realistic drama.

Favorite Manga: Berserk by Kentaro Miura, graphic violence, sex and themes, one of the most mature and interesting manga I've ever read.

Excel Saga by Koshi Rikdo, kicks the crap out of that blah anime with its witty puns, ridiculous situations and scathing satire of life in general. Oh, and NO PUUCHUS!

Trigun by Yasuhiro Nightow, also kicks the crap out of its own anime adaptation, namely because Trigun is a FIGHTING manga like Jojo or Fist of the North Star. The soul purpose of its narrative is to put the characters in ridiculous, over the top gun battles. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hellsing by Kohta Hirano, another humorous fighting manga like Trigun only with Vampires and Werewolves instead of cowboys and cyborgs. Mainly revolves around Alucard tearing peoples guts out.
