For the past ten years or so I've published Doctor Who and then Hornblower fan fic to the net, and have now become caught up in the world of Holmes and Watson. My association with these wonderful characters began in the late nineties when I discovered the Granada series via cable TV, and therefore my characterisations are heavily influenced by Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Holmes, and as I tend to write for the post-hiatus years his Watson is very much Edward Hardwicke. I do have a decent working knowledge of the canon, but I'm not a Holmesian encyclopedia by any means - for the sake of ease when writing I tend to stick to the Granada chronology as that's what I know best. This is also the reason Watson is never married in any of my fic. And I feel I write characters better if there's an actor to filter them through... :) My general themes are pretty straightforward: friendship, mystery and angst in the main, with a little humour on the side. You won't find slash or romance in my Holmes stories - I like to stick to the spirit of the originals if at all possible. I am probably the world's worst reviewer. I do read and enjoy the fic here, but I'm pretty hopeless at letting authors know. Sorry! I'm doing my best to rectify that.
