Doctor John Watson, Police Surgeon: Scotland Yard

This is my new Sherlock Holmes series, starring his faithful Boswell, but not Sherlock Holmes. How you ask? You'll have to give it a read to find out.

I have uploaded a series of images that coincide with scenes in my series. The Watson in the pictures is the brilliant Ian Hart. He only played Watson twice but he gave the new definitive portrayal in my mind. When I write this series he is the one I envision.

All Images have been taken from the 2004 film The Case of the Silk Stockings, starring Rupert Everette and Ian Hart, and the 2002 Hound of the Baskervilles starring Ian Hart and Richard Roxburgh appropriate copy writes apply.

Chapter (1) “Why now Lestrade, why have you not come to me before?” he asked pointedly his eyes flashing with anger, “Why are you coming to me now when I have so little left?”

Chapter (2) “I am indeed a published author, but I am also a doctor, they brought me in for a consultation that is all. I am not here to replace or supplant you sir,” he said with a warm smile.

Chapter (3) “When you call me in the future, you might want to bear in mind that I am not Holmes. My priority will not always be the case at hand.”

Chapter (4) “Is this the sort of man you wish to work with? A man who might be better off in a dark room dosed with Laudanum?”

Chapter (5) “If you would not mind me slowing you down, dear Lestrade, I should like to be in on the hunt.”

Doctor John Watson, Police Surgeon: Scotland Yard 2 - Impostor

The second installment in the series. I hope you decide to check it out as well. Here are some images and quotes from it.

Chapter (1) I put all of the brides-to-be on the same day so the sick that actually need me don’t have to suffer them needlessly, but a fellow can only take so much perfume up his olfactory orifice before he actually misses the scent of a day old corpse.”

Chapter (2) “You should give it credence, sir, for it is my intention to never join your club,” Watson remarked.

Chapter (3) “I find Nurse Burr and I are now in agreement, Doctor Bedlow deserved all the pain he received in life, and I have never so much wanted to believe in karma.” Doctor Watson avowed with an angry growl.

Chapter (4) “Don’t you ever frighten me like that again John Watson, do you hear me?” she scolded in a soft teary voice. “I’m sorry, dear lady, it will not happen again.” He replied, stroking her greying hair.

Chapter (5) After she left, Watson leaned in his face showing some embarrassment. “I forgot how long it has been since I felt a feminine touch, if she had stayed much longer, a change in her opinion of my gentility would have been inevitable,” he remarked with a shy smile.

Doctor John Watson, Police Surgeon: Scotland Yard 3- Esau Have I Hated

The third installment in the series. I hope you decide to check it out as well. Here are some images and quotes from it.

Chapter (1) Watson looked gobsmacked. “She said what?”/ There was a man re-raising on a bet with an abject ennui, and he did not resemble Doctor John Watson, he was John Watson, but a version not beaten down and burdened by life, and without any warmth in his eyes.

Chapter (2) “Please, John, I need your help,” James remarked, standing stiff, his hands behind his back. / Watson nodded. He looked pale and as if he had aged ten years since he entered the room. “I’ve already decided to help him. I just hope I live to regret it.”

Chapter (3) “You know damn well she was not,” Watson growled. / “Charon wants James J. Watson...” he began indicated the now bored James who was peering out the blinds cautiously, “I say we give him James J. Watson.”

Chapter (4) “I heard the tenor of the cane change as he clicked it against the cobblestones, I turned just in time / “I weep for your discomfort.” Watson replied.

Chapter (5) "Lestrade shrugged. “I might have made mention that the fairer sex does not find you extraordinarily hideous.” / “Well now, thank you for putting it in those glowing terms…” Watson remarked.

Doctor John Watson, Police Surgeon: Scotland Yard 4- The Frozen Image

Images and quotes from the this installment, check it out!

Chapter (1) The man still looked superficially like James Watson, but the strength and determination shining from the eyes in that pale countenance left little doubt to the identity. Watson had left his hat behind, his hair plastered to his forehead by sweat; he was trembling in spite of the layers of coat he wore.

Chapter (2) “Holmes?” Watson murmured, “Leave me alone, it’s the middle of the bloody night.”

Chapter (3) “Alister Eads, will make that appointment…” he announced with a certainty that dared contestation.

Chapter (4) “You will address me as Doctor, or Watson, only my friends may call me John,” Watson remarked, his shoulders stiff with resentment.

Chapter (5) “I see well enough to make sure you hang, Mister Eads, you have my word on it.”

Chapter (6) Lestrade listened to Watson’s laboured breathing with consternation. The man was obviously in pain, but if he did not want anyone to remark upon his circumstance, Lestrade was going to honour his wish.

Chapter (7) The bedside table, covered with various implements needed to care for someone ill, and in the middle of it, was John Watson on his side sound asleep.

Chapter (8) Someone offered Watson a chair but the man refused, his jaw clenched, under some weight that he would not share.

Chapter (9) Watson gave him a smile that could mean anything or nothing. “Are you here for a visit, or did you just wish to see how long you can irritate me before I put a bullet into your hind parts?”

Chapter (10) Lestrade had to give Watson another look. His friend was dressed to the nines, obviously for a night out, complete with dinner attire.
