My books are some of my best friends and I revisit them regularly (but I have real friends, too, so I'm not a total freak).

Favorite fiction: The Lord of the Rings (the most perfect of all books); Jane Austen, of course; The Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian (the best prose in print); Wuthering Heights (literally changed my life when I was 15); Bernard Cornwall's Arthur series (but also just about anything he ever wrote, including his Sharpe series); Robin McKinley (especially "The Blue Sword", "Hero and the Crown" and "Sunshine", in which a girl falls in love with a vampire, stangely enough); 'His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman; early Steven Donaldson ("The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever" and "Mordant's Need" in spite of, or because of, the frustrating imperfections of his characters); the Angelique series and I love Jasper Ffordes (both Tuesday Next and his nursery rhyme series). I love Garth Nix and am eagerly awaiting "Sunday", and if you are a fan you willl know what I mean. Lately I've really gotten into Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Series.

Life: I work. Although I'm not a "writer," my profession involves a lot of writing. However, very few people really want to read my work and paradoxically, if fewer people read what I write it's generally a better result. See if you can work that out.
