FAVORITE POETRY: yeah, i don't know why i put this here. except i added an extra line break and the computer won't let me delete it, and i really didn't want to just have a blank space, so there you have it.

Odi et amo. Quare id faciam, fortasse requiris.
Nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior.
- Catullus 85

Translation:
I hate and I love. Why do I do this, perhaps you ask.
I do not know, but I feel it happening and I am being tortured.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.

- Excerpt from Wilfred Owen's poem, Dulce et Decorum Est

FAVORITE QUOTES:

"She had been awaiting it and she felt it, as if it had been, as if she had lived it. Life had been, if only because she had known it could be, and she felt it now as a hymn without sound, deep under the little hole that dripped red drops into the now, deeper than that from which the red drops came. A moment or an eternity- did it matter? Life, undefeated, existed and could exist." -We the Living by Ayn Rand (this is my favorite quote of all time)

"Good morning, on July 7: Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men..." - Ludwig van Beethoven, in a letter to his 'Immortal Beloved'

" 'Allo, Kira." - We the Living by Ayn Rand

"Rage-- Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus' son Achilles, murderous, doomed, that cost the Achaeans countless losses, hurling down to the House of Death so many sturdy souls, great fighters' souls, but made their bodies carrion, feasts for the dogs and birds, and the will of Zeus was moving toward its end. Begin, Muse, when the two first broke and clashed, Agamemnon lord of men and brilliant Achilles." - The Iliad by Homer (translated by the late, great, Robert Fagles)

"I'll be alive because I won't forget." - We the Living by Ayn Rand

"That love is reverence, and worship, and glory, and the upward glance. Not a bandage for dirty sores. But they don’t know it. Those who speak of love most promiscuously are the ones who’ve never felt it. They make some sort of feeble stew out of sympathy, compassion, contempt and general indifference, and they call it love. Once you’ve felt what it means to love as you and I know it–the total passion for the total height–you’re incapable of anything less.” - The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

"Howard Roark laughed." - The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (actually the first line of the book)

"Genius is the ability to act wisely without precedent- the power to do the right thing the first time." - Elbert Hubbard

"You are a creator. You create beauty." - My violin teacher

"'It was said that the artist had a 'universe-creating imagination.' In his transports of artistic rapture he could sense the dissolving of the boundary between dream and reality.'" - Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder

"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known." - A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dicken

The joy of music should never be interrupted by a commercial. ~Leonard Bernstei

Music is love in search of a word. ~Sidney Lanier

Question: Theres a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

“I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps "Oh look at that!" Then- whoosh, and I'm gone...and they'll never see anything like it ever again... and they won't be able to forget me- ever.” - Jim Morrison

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." - Ewan McGregor as Christian in Moulin Rouge
