Live Journal: http://ferret34.livejournal.com I try to update, but since no one has been checking it, I haven’t updated in a long time… My personal email is: h.oxendale@yahoo.com I check it every day just make sure you mention fan fiction in the subject, or try too at least. Family: Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Sister, Couch surfer I call Stork Bite. Pets: My cat’s name is Crookshanks, and she’s a very mean kitty. I also have three other cats in the house, Lucy, Tyler, and Sylli. And a dog I call Satan or You Dunce. Car: a 2005 Dodge Neon, candy apply red. School: I am currently waiting for December when I will be getting my Associates in Fine Arts (AFA)degree. I am finished I just didn’t get my application in on time to get it right away. Then I will be moving on to St. Cloud State University to bet my BFA. Past times: reading, writing, playing Sims, drinking Mountain Dew, Art (photography, painting, drawing, and ceramics are my faves), sleeping, watching movies, and some video games. Favorite inventions: cameras, cardboard pizzas and the flush toilet…wow those last two just don’t go well together at all… Animes: anything by Hiao Miazaki (Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Nausica of the Valley of the Wind, Proncess Mononoke, and so on), and Death Note. Movies: Dogma, Harry Potter 1,2,4, and 5 (Hated PA), Twilight, Lord of the Rigs tri, anything Classic Disney, Juno, Seven Pounds, Accepted, Midsummer’s Night Dream (with Micky Roony), The Fifth Element, Without a Paddle, Repo: The Genetic Opera and many more. (very eclectic and some old school) Television: Bones (I’m truly addicted) and really that’s it. Anything else I watch is usually whatever is on and I happen to look at the TV. I’m not much of a TV person I hate commercials so I even watch Bones online, or on DVD. Authors: J.K. Rowling, P.C. Cast + Kristen Cast, Scott Westerfeld, Shakespeare, A.A. Milne, Margret Mitchell, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Zora Neale Hurston, Amy Tan, Ken Kessey, Harper Lee, Caroline B. Cooney, Louisa May Alcott, Stephanie Meyer, Mark Twain, Emma Bull, Lois Sachar, and many, many more. Future plans: finish school, get a career as an Art Therapist, start a family, get a house, get a good car, etc. (Not necessarily in this order, but I’d like to finish school before a family/kids) Randomness: I’m addicted to Mountain Dew and Reeses Pieces. I cover the numbers in my alarm clock when I sleep because they’re too bright. I paint my furniture with weird patterns, just for fun. I sleep with 7, count em, 7 pillows! I can count to 10 in Spanish and French. I have a badge that says, “Why yes, I do write Fan fiction” I got from Anime Detour. I have my lip pierced. I wear glasses. My eyes are my best feature. I sleep till 1 pm, then stay up till 4 am all summer. I do cross stitch. I haven’t worn socks in 3 weeks. My hair is about 18 inches long…and brown. I do believe in Fairies, I do, I do. About me: If I am anything I am an observer first. I tend to watch people and learn from them and others before I make a final decision. Second, I am a student. I live to learn, and I love to learn. I love to go to school and learn things of my own choice, but yes I do complain when I have to take a class I know I’m not good at (cough Math cough). But when I am given the chance to truly excel with good teachers and good environments, I will learn to enjoy whatever it is I am focusing on learning at that moment. I have a good sense of humor, though a bit weird at times. I surround myself with friends and family and if someone hurts me, I ask them why. I am very straight forward, and tell it like it is, though in a nice way. I am more often quiet and reserved unless you get some alcohol in me and surround me with fun outgoing people, then I’m fairly outgoing. When I am with people I know and am friends with, I tend to talk a lot. I love to debate with people, mostly about religion and human rights. This trait helps me when my mediating skills come out of the woodwork. I have always been the type who needs to hear all sides of a situation before I can help out with a “judgment” or a decision. I am a procrastinator! I almost always wait until it is nearly to late for many things, like my FAFSA for school, registering for classes, applying for graduation, writing long papers, etc. I’ve tried to stop it, but I can’t really stop forever. Finally, I am a firm believer in treating others the way I would want to be treated. But also believe in an eye for an eye. Before anyone contradicts me on this though, I would agree that this would work both in my favor and not. If I do something that hurts another, I feel like they would deserve retaliation of equal measure and vice versa. I believe in the mythical and mystical. Fairies, Dragons, and so on are real in our imagination, but so many reports that they have been seen in reality have been made that I find it hard to not believe. I am proud to say I get this belief from my late best friend Alissa Ferry, our Flower Child, may she rest in peace. Now onto the Fan fiction! My preferences: Harry Potter, some Twilight, and House of Night, really anything that’s written well. Shipping: cannon so HP/GW, RW/HG, DM/AG, LL/RS, NL/HA, RL/NT, and so on. I rarely read slash or ships other than what I’ve already stated unless its tasteful and really well written and not just because the author didn’t get their way in canon and spends their time bashing on Ginny or Hermione. Pet Peeves: When authors put a/n’s in the middle of their fricken stories. A/N:’s go at the beginning or the end, and if I come across one in the middle (unless it’s noting where a different rating starts or ends) I exit out and find a different story. I don’t continue the story, and if it’s a crappy story anyways, I’ll review and tell the author what’s up. Also, so many typos that the reading is not easy flowing and hard to understand. Fave Characters: HP Harry (of course), Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Draco, Snape, Fred and George, Luna, Charlie, Bill, McGonagall, Arthur, Molly, Dumbledore, Flitwick, Neville, Remus, Sirius, Tonks, and Hagrid. Twilight Jasper, Alice, Emmet, Edward, Bella, Carlisle, Esme, Jacob, and so on. Fave Genre: I love humor stories and try to incorporate humor into my story as well. Angst stories are good too, if a story can make me tear up, awesome; if it can make me bawl (like Deathly Hallows) it’s a top notch story of the best caliber. I enjoy stories that have super!Harry or super!Any Good guy, unless it’s blatantly obvious and Harry doesn’t work for his power in some way. If he goes from one night normal to the next day super!Harry and doesn’t have to practice or anything, I don’t generally enjoy it. Fave Canon’s in order: DH, OotP, HBP, SS, GF, CS, PoA. My take on Canon and AU: I prefer canon stories though if the story is well written with a good plot and characterizations are right, I can enjoy AU stories as well. Once a person tries to combine canon with an AU, I get skeptical but I have seen some amazing stories out there that start out canon and drift AU, or vise versa. Favorite FanFics: (before I had a tiny description of each story, but that takes up too much space, so check out the bio’s for yourself) On Fan Fiction .net: Resonance (and sequels) by greengecko And anything by YelloWitchGrl, Cygnus Crux, Worfe, and Melindaleo. Most of my faves on my list are ones that I read before fave-ing. I usually read the story first, and fave afterwards, so the ones on this list are definitely great stories. There are 2 stories I think everyone should read, Harry Potter and the Antiquity Link by semprini on Snoogle .net. and Harry Potter, Heir of Gryffindor by Brent Braten. Both stories are enough to inspire people to write their own stuff as well as fan fiction. Both are expertly written and are very deeply, emotional and philosophical, and in the case of Antiquity Link, cultural. My stories: I get a lot of inspiration from reading others’ stories, so my stories might seem typical at first, but give them a try. Never judge a book by its cover and don’t judge it by a 120 word summary either. I stick to the book canon, I see interviews as a cheap way of saying, “This info wasn’t important enough to put in the book, but I still like it, or want attention.” (Ie: Dumbledore’s sexuality). War POV’s is a one shot that takes place during the final battle in DH. It covers the point of view of several characters during several parts of the battle; Before, during, and after Harry is “dead” and paraded about by Voldemort. The story uses several direct quotes from canon. It’s my first story I’ve ever written and posted, and I would like to hear what people think about it. Harry Potter and the Summer After is a full length novel sized story, covering the summer after the war ends. It’s mostly canon based, but I do take a few liberties such as Harry won’t be joining the Aurors at age 17 and information received by JKR in interviews I reserve judgment on (depending on if it works for my story or not, I might not use it, like Charlie never getting married). It’s an emotional roller coaster since I enjoy humor, but it is primarily a recovery story. Everyone is trying to grieve and get on with their lives. HP and crew deal with suicide attempts, people lashing out at them, and their own grief. Not to mention Harry has God fatherly duties and familial duties to his missing relatives. Hermione and the gang travel to Australia to retrieve her parents, while Harry brings the crew to America for his family. A sequel is planned for it, though it’s not even started being written. Please enjoy my stories, and please review! Reviews are motivation to write more, and I always respond to reviews even if it’s just a “thanks for reviewing”. Each review is like a little reward for me! | |||||||||||
