Author has written 22 stories for Little Shop of Horrors, Happy Feet, Misc. Cartoons, Nightmare Before Christmas, Crucible, Into the Woods, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, RENT, and Canterbury Tales. Hello, world! For those of you who are just getting to know me, my name is Laura. I’m your averagely eccentric 17-year-old Californian; high school going on college, being creative, trying out different clubs, getting part time jobs, singing in the bathroom to myself…you know, the average stuff. I’m living with my mom and my little sister along with my guinea pig Fiyero. My friends are a mixture of art lovers, actors and techies, future agriculturists, and other people I’ve simply met by fate, you might say. You'll usually catch me wearing some Nightmare Before Christmas or painted t-shirt, staring stupidly at my computer screen or sheet of doodle paper as I create blurbs of ideas. I’m your average, budding artist stuck in the crowd. I like all kinds of things from kids stuff to gothic to girly. A primary interest of mine is theatre and musicals, so you’ll see a lot of my writing is about that. Okay, on to how I write. I like to write about different fandoms, though mostly about the musicals I like. So far, my most dominant genre has been Little Shop of Horrors, but I also enjoy writing The Nightmare Before Christmas, Happy Feet and Rent stories. I try to stay close to the canon and characters in my stories, and only occasionally write non-canon things. I also like to hide trivial things inside my fan fics about myself and the story, like alluding to a song from a musical or hinting at something about me as a person. Lastly, I’m a generally nice person to talk to, so feel free to send a PM. There you have me in a nutshell, a sweet oddball. ANNOUNCEMENT: First Impressions, Return to Skid Row, The Camera Loves You, and A Night to Remember are now in their fully revised versions. When Offred finished her tape recordings, she is careful not to reveal anymore of her identity, for she knows that she is not entirely safe. But when she does finally get over the border, she is disoriented. Can she find any of her friends again? Which man will she re-encounter, Luke or Nick? Can she rescue her daughter from within the Republic of Gillead? (I would prefer to read The Handmaid's Tale again before writing this, but I have some ideas.) 2. A Rose in West Egg: AU Great Gatsby. What if Wilson had actually killed the Buchanons instead of Jay? How will a heartbroken Jay be able to move on after Nick gives up hope on his friend? Can a poor woman named Rose help Jay see things in a better light? (I'd also like to read The Great Gatsby again before writing this.) Other Misc: 1. Magic: Based on The Polar Express movie. When the narrator, grown up, meets up with the little girl of the past, they speak of how they believe in their Christmas adventure. They realize their connection is magical...in more ways than one. 2. Bleeding in the Street: West Side Story. When Anita declared her hatred of the Jets, she truly meant it. But when she saw Tony bleeding in the street that same night, and Maria crying over him, did she feel the same? Nightmare Before Christmas: 1. A Life of a Rag Doll: The retelling of Sally's creation and what she felt as a sort of reborn child in a deformed, adult body to where she fell in love with Jack. Pre-Movie JackXSally. (This is one I'd like to do a little research with. I want to get some Frankenstein quotes for the story.) Little Shop of Horrors: 1. Aliens! When Seymour, Audrey, and Julie play a seemingly harmless game, they realize their error. Post movie. Part of Like Father, Like Daughter. 2. Confessions: Seymour and Audrey are in their own version of paradise, but something's still bugging Seymour. Can he tell Audrey? Post movie. SeymourXAudrey. Part of Like Father, Like Daughter. 3. T for violence and language. 4. The Hero: Seymour's POV about the happy and downbeat endings. First person. SeymourXAudrey. T for violence. 5. Whatever Happened to that Plant? My version of what happened to the plant from the end of the movie. Involves the plant eater from the 1960 film. Happy Feet: 1. I Just Want Your Extra Time, and... Reflections on Memphis and Norma Jean's lives. From chickhood to adults, their songs just fit. MemphisXNorma. Part of Everything's Alright. 2. From her chickhood friendship to her relationship with Mumble Happyfeet. MumbleXGloria The Lion King: 1. Where the Journey May Lead Me: Nala's journey from the pridelands after "Shadowland". Largely her thoughts, etc. SimbaXNala. T for the Scar subplot. Mid Movie. 2. Little Kiara: Simba's POV about his daughter during the day of her birth. Short. Into the Woods: 1. In That Same Far Off Kingdom: Six adventures between act I and act II of Into the Woods. Concerns the birth of the baker's son, Little Red's questioning, Jack's discontent, Rapunzel's life, Cinderella and the prince's marriage, and the Giantess' rage. Mid Musical. BakerXBaker's Wife. 2. Back Into the Wood: The baker's son ventures into the woods, searching for answers to his questions and adventure. Which familiar and new friends will he encounter? Can Jack and Red find him in time? And when Cinderella's prince returns, what will the baker do to protect her? Post musical BakerXCinderella. (This is my big Into the Woods idea. I'm going to need a lot more work to make this story, including read some serious Grimm tales and do some plot work first.) 3. For a Good Cow: When Milky White dies, poor Jack is devastated. Feeling lost and alone, Jack is convinced that he doesn't have a friend in the world. Can Red, Thomas, and Joanna prove him otherwise? Post Musical short. Rent: 1. Part of A Year in the Life. 4. Back in Bohemia: A sequel to "The Camera Loves You", told mostly from Mark's perspective. Just when the Alphabet City family has separated, they are thrust back together because of the sudden health decline of Collins. Meanwhile Roger and Mimi have their own problems and Mark is trying to rekindle his relationship with the love of his life. Will the Bohemians' love and hope prevail this time? 5. Rights of Passage: A post-Rent twoshot or maybe threeshot. Roger and Mimi adopt a baby girl named Amira and Mark and Musetta have a baby boy named Marcello. What do the two new fathers learn with their responsibilities? RogerXMimi, MarkXOC. Rated K+ or T. (I would really like to write Back in Bohemia before this one, but if I get enough request for it, I'll do it ahead of time.) Wicked/Wizard of Oz: 1. The Flower: Elphaba thinks back on she and Glinda's days at Shiz. A gift remains from their friendship: the single hair flower. What about it is so significant to the witch? Short. 2. A Fork in the Yellow Brick Road: Before Fiyero, as the scarecrow, can return to Kiamo Ko to find Elphaba, he is confronted by his friends the Lion and Boq. All three speak of their paths in the future and have a teary departure, truly acknowledging their friendship and love for Dorothy that they must all forget. Mid movie/musical short. Fiyeraba. 3. Why, Glinda? As Glinda lectures her younger Ozian audiences, a young Munchkin boy begins to ask her questions about the Wicked Witch of the West. How much can the Witch of the North reveal without breaking her promise to her friend? Post musical short. Crossovers: The Great Musical Crossover Series: Based on an RPG I've been involved in for more than a year. What happens when our favorite characters from "Rent", "Little Shop of Horrors", "The Producers", "Moulin Rouge", "Wicked" and many more collide? A lot of drama, romance, bloodshed, and adventure, that's what! This will probably be a very long fan fiction, but my friends in the RPG are really requesting it. My favorite canon characters (with my favorite line they say/sing): Jack Skellington: (sings) "If they only understood, he would give it all up if he only could..." Sally the rag doll: "Three times!" Audrey Fulquard: "Just me...and the toasta', and a sweet little guy...like Seymour." Audrey II: "No sh!#, Shurlock!" Seymour Krelborn: (sings) "Treats me like dirt, calls me a slob, which I AM!" Mumble Happyfeet: "Gloria, all I my life I wanted to say, you're so...you're so fish!" Memphis: "That's right, a great, big UMPH!" Roger Davis: (sings to Mimi) "I have always loved you...you can see it in my eyes." Mimi Marquez: (sings) "Take me out tonight! Meow, ha!" Mark Cohen: "Close up on Mark's nose dive, will he get out of here alive?" Angel Dumont Shunard: (sings to Collins) "Live in my house, I'll be your shelter. Just pay me back with one thousand kisses. Be my lover and I'll cover you..." Simba: (sings) "I know that the night must end, I know that the sun will rise, and I'll hear your voice deep inside..." Nala: (sings) "Let your prayers be my guide. I cannot stay here, my family, but I'll remember my pride." Bambi: "Mother, what're we gonna do today?" Elphaba Thropp: (sings) "Soon I'll match them in renoun! And nobody, in all of Oz, no wizard that there is or was, is ever gonna bring me down!" Glinda Upperland: "Elphaba, let go of that poor little girl, and her dog, Dodo." Prince Fiyero Tiggular: (sings to Elphaba) "Maybe I'm brainless, maybe I'm wise, but you've got me seeing through different eyes..." Jack: (sings) "There are big, tall, terrible, awesome, scary, WONDERFUL giants in the sky!" The Witch: "Sometimes the things you most wish for are not to be touched." The Baker's Wife: (sings) "If life were made of moments, even now and then a bad one...but if life were only moments then you'd never know you had one." Cinderella: (sings) "Then from out of the blue, and without any guide, you know what your decision is, which is not to decide. You'll just leave him a clue, for example, a shoe..." Bigwig: "Lots of little Bigwigs, Hazel! Think of that and tremble!" Hyzenthlay: "I'll come, I'll run at any risk!" Misty: "Ash is never really alone in the world because he's got...me." My Original Characters (by order of premier on site): 1. Star Skellington (from Star Skellington's Christmas Wish) The daughter of Sally and Jack Skellington from TNBC. Star is six years old and looks mostly like her father, but she has her mother's ragged red hair and big, wandering eye sockets. For a personality she's spacy, obsessed with Christmas, and loves to hear her father's stories about Christmas Land. Quote: "I wish to go to...Christmas Town." 2. Julie Krelborn (from Return to Skid Row, Through Julie's eyes, and Little Shop Oneshots) The daughter of Audrey and Seymour Krelborn; LSoH movieverse. Julie is four in Return to Skid Row and six in Through Julie's Eyes. She has thick brown hair like her father and green eyes like her mother. She's youthful, curious, and fun-loving disguised with shyness. Quote: "I don't hate you, you're my daddy." 3. Joe (from Return to Skid Row) The antagonist. After Patrick Martin was fired from the World Botanical Enterprises, he needed a partner in crime. He found Joe, a strong but violent and alcoholic brute. Joe would sooner pull a trigger than think twice about killing someone, and so threatens little Julie's life. Quote: "I'll show you trouble!" 4. Maggie Harris (from Through Julie's Eyes) A classmate of Julie Krelborn. Maggie is a new Greenville resident, fresh from Levittown. She is of mixed races, bringing some hesitation from her more racist classmates with chocolate hair and eyes. Can Julie keep up her friendship with her? Quote (about Julie's Halloween costume): "Wow, you werent' kiddin about the costume!" 5. Joanna (from I Wish) The infant daughter of Cinderella and the baker (Chip as I call him). She looks almost exactly like Cinderella and is deeply loved by her refugee family. She was named after the baker's first wife, Joanna. 6. Mary Tombe (from Through Julie's Eyes) The antagonist of my new story. Mary, according to what she says, is fresh offa' Manhattan, though much of her details are unknown. Mary enjoys wearing skimpy clothes and she has a strange attraction for Seymour Krelborn, which makes Audrey extremely jealous. Will Audrey's love for Seymour prevail? Quote (about Julie): "Funny, she doesn't look at all like her mommy." 7. Chloe (from Happy Feet Oneshots) The young daughter of Gloria and Mumble. Being only a little penguin, Chloe is naive and observant. She has greenish-blue eyes with flecks of brown, a combination of both her parents. She likes to sing, but also likes to dance, so her "heartsong" is not very clear yet. Quote: "You mean it's not Ahhgirrrl?" 8. Musetta Silva (from The Camera Loves You) A resident of Alphabet City, Musetta is a young girl with brown hair, green-blue eyes, and a freckled face. She is a painter who becomes the center of Mark Cohen's attention after he interviews her for a documentary. She slowly falls in love with him, eventually becoming part of the Alphabet City Avant Gard. Quote: "She told me that if a snowflake lands on your nose that you'll fall in love. Heh, stupid, right?" 9. Stacie (from The Camera Loves You) Another resident of Alphabet City, but hardly what you'd call a bohemian. She's Musetta's roommate, and Musetta calls her "cheerleading reject" and "Your Bitchiness". She's known for being "only fun when she's drunk" and loving her annoying cat, Sir Chubbsworth. Quote (drunk): "La vie boheme!" Last thing: Everybody does the classic "copy and paste" gig for their profile, and I admit to have made my own list, but my version has a twist. I took only the "if you" part and made it all into a long, run-on sentence so that my profile would have room saved. I have a similar list on myspace, so I thought I'd try it here now. If you are in love with The Nightmare Before Christmas because of something more than Hot Topic and Disney's commercial exploitation of it, if you are a Little Shop of Horrors fanatic, if you wish that you knew your heartsong like the penguins in Happy Feet, if you've found yourself humming "This is Halloween" in the middle of springtime without any explanation, if you've ever sung "Grow for Me" to a plant, if you're tired of text fanfics making it onto this website, if you have O.C.A.II.D (obsessive compulsive Audrey II disorder), if you have a mental "the guy sure looks like plant food to me" list, if you LUV bunnies, if none of your friends have heard of this website, if you've been on the computer for hours on end, reading numerous fan fictions, if you are so obsessed with musical theatre that you randomly start quoting it, if you have ever seen a movie (or show) so many times that you can quote it word for word and you do at random moments, if you've ever lost someone you loved, if you are the kind of person that gets really excited when you get like two reviews (hint... hint), if you're Defying Gravity, and no one can pull you down, if you hear the voices of characters in your head, sdrawkcab siht daer ot hguone trams era uoy fI, if you're one of the ones who does know the difference between "your" and "you're", if you have EVER yelled at a TV after getting frustrated at someone who can't hear you, if you like music, if you love art, if you love animals, if you feed Audrey II all night long, if you live in no day but today, if you have a sense of humor, if you aren't an a--hole, if you love chocolate, if you like creativity, if you like fun and bubbliness, if you like big girls, if you like bubblegum ice cream, if you love herb tea, if you like comedy, and if you love Disney movies, if you think Adam Pascal would make an awesome Fiyero, if you love coffee, Then you're like me! Well, that's it. Sorry, there's no souvenir shop or Emerald City at the end of this profile, but at least if you've actually come to the end I know you care... or were bored enough to read this whole thing. Either way, you've contributed to my ever-growing profile hit count, and I love you all for it! | |||||||||||||
