My Mission Statement...

Okay. I've been meaning to update my profile - you know, add some more detail - for a LONG time now...but I was too lazy to do it. So today, on the 23rd of January 2012, I'm finally going to do it. First of all, I want to elighten you all on what I've been calling my "mission statement" - since I can't think of anything else to call it. When I first joined Fanfiction, it most certainly wasn't because of any love for writing. To be honest, I absolutely abhorred writing. Most likely, because I only ever did it when I had to write essays or short stories for a grade. I'd never actually written stories for fun. So basically, I had developed a passionate hatred for writing before I even made my Fanfiction account.

The reason why I made it in the first place was because I read a story that I absolutely had to review, and I figured I might as well make an account so that I can review stories (even though it wasn't exactly necessary). I knew about this website long before I made an account, and as an avid reader, I read fanfictions here religiously. But for some reason, my penchant for falling in love with strange pairings didn't develop until after I made an account. Go figure. What I mean by that is...well...I always, always seem to fall for pairings/ships/couples (whatever you want to call them) that aren't exactly the most popular.

For example...

In Vampire Academy (book series), my favorite pairing is Rose/Christian. This is weird because:

a) In Vampire Academy, Rose - the main character - falls madly in love with a man named Dimitri from the very first book. And I mean madly. Her love for him only gets more intense with each book in the series... and there are about seven books in the series. :/

b) Furthermore, Rose has a couple other love interests, but clearly none of them are anywhere close to what she feels for Dimitri.

c) Lastly, when Christian is introduced in the first book...Rose kind of hates him. And even though they eventually become friends in the later installments of the series, they're not exactly the best of friends. Not to mention that later on in the first book, Rose's best friend Lissa develops a "thing" with Christian - and they start dating. And their love for each other grows so strong it actually rivals that of Rose and Dimitri. *sigh* -_-"

Needless to say, RosexChristian isn't exactly the most popular pairing in Vampire Academy fanfiction. Which is a problem for me because the least popular pairings always have the least stories. It's so frustrating.

Another (more popular) example:

In Harry Potter (a book series, which has a movie for each book...duh), my favorite pairing is Dramione. As in Draco and Hermione. Draco Malfoy. The pompous, selfish, cruel, rude (and admittedly very handsome) Slytherin. Hermione Granger. The kind, intelligent, brave, bushy-haired Gryffindor. These two characters despise each other.

So you can see my problem.

I tend to fall for weird couples. By that, I mean couples that would never get together in the series they're apart of, and more often than not, have absolutely no hints in the series.

So I decided to put my account to use. Rather than sit around and complain about the lack of stories for my favorite couples, I'm actually going to do something about it. My mission is simple. All I want to do on fanfiction is give my favorite underrated couples the attention they deserve. And hopefully inspire others to write more stories for said couples while I'm at it. Less importantly, I'd like to use this as a way to improve my writing. =)
