Author has written 8 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Handle With Care. Authors who say they hate flames/flamers most likely get flames...and deserve every single one. Take this quiz and find out (Note that this quiz doesn't catch everything) : http://www.katfeete.net/writing/marysue.html Name: Let's just say it's Zoë. Age: Old enough for fanfiction, young enough for high school. Birthday: Somewhere between January 1st and December 31st. Favorite Books: My Sister's Keeper, Nineteen Minutes, Handle With Care, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (sorry, PJO fans) Favorite Song: "Hey, Sarah Palin" (Beware: Only click if you are Anti-Palin) Fictionpress: Pegasus Rider HUGS TOTAL! give Zoe_Nightshade more HUGS Ω Ω Proud Moments: Read the question. I promise I didn't ask it. I came across it by pure coincidence. Question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090816162052AAJ0hg3 Ω Ω Donate for free! Answer questions correctly to give free rice to starving people: http://www.freerice.com/index.php Ω Ω Will you please review my story? I'd be glad to review your story. However, before asking me to review your story, you must: a) make sure that you have gone over it and checked for spelling and grammar mistakes to the best of your ability. b) Made sure that each chapter of the fic you want me to reviews is one thousand words long or more. c) Have no POVs in your fic. There are a few good fics with POVs in them, but since most are pathetic, I'd rather not risk making someone angry. d) I would suggest taking this quiz to make sure your character (if OC) is not Mary Sue or Gary Stu. e) If you are using Rick Riordan's characters, make sure they are in character. f) No bold. I mean, if it's in an author's note, that's fine (but don't make the author's note too long) but while it may be easier to read for you, it is extremely hard to read for the majority of the human beings on this planet which is why books are not in bold. Also, if you want to put extra umph on a word, use italics, not bold. Now, know that I will judge your fic like everyone else's fic. If I give you a flame, that means it probably is terrible. I tend to be much more gentle on fics that people have PMed me asking me to review, however, if it is just so pathetic it's...well, pathetic and I am highly suspicious you broke the "must be 13 and over to join fanfiction.net" rule, I will indeed flame you. And by "flame" I mean, "You really need to work on the grammar, especially around quotations. Also, your characters are all Mary Sue." If it is ultra-bad, expect worse. I know I sound mean, but after well over a year of seeing this: percy and annabeth went to the mall and saw grover and said "hi" and then went to the moves and saw batman and got popcorn and saw rachel and said "hi". "hi" rachel said. annabeth started 2 cry cuz she htought percy didn't liek hr. I swear on the River Styx I have seen fics exactly like this. Here are a list of other people who can tell you if your fic is pathetic or worth something: http://pjofandom.webs.com/qualityfeedback.htm Ω Ω Pluto was declared no longer a planet on August 27, 2006, because it was "too small" and "off its orbit" for some scientists' likings. If you think Pluto should still be a planet, copy and paste this to your profile. LONG LIVE PLUTO!! When someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles to frown about it but it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and punch the crap out of them. 90 percent of teens would have a breakdown if Miley Cyrus was standing on the edge of a six story building. Copy this into your profile if you're part of the 10 percent yelling JUMP!! J.K. Rowling proved that some young adult novels can be over 500 pages. Stephanie Meyers proved that some shouldn't be. Ω Ω Annabeth's Age: Everyone has been assuming that Annabeth Chase is younger than Percy, but in reality, she is older than him. Source: here Ω Ω No Happy Hunting Grounds: This was my first story. Like most people's first stories, it wasn't the best, but one of my favorite things about it is that it has a review from Honest101 saying that the plot, the grammar, and the spelling, is good! It is before The Battle of the Labyrinth. Thalia hates being a hunter (I wrote this before The Demigod Files and The Last Olympian came out) and so she runs off with Annabeth to go on a mission to try to save Luke. This story was deleted and reposted here. Howl at the Moon This is a story about a daughter of Artemis. It is one of my least favorite of my stories. I don't recommend reading it. Let's just say that I wrote it before I knew what a Mary Sue was. This story was deleted and reposted here. You Can't Choose Your Relatives: This is about a daughter of the Queen of the Amazons, and for all you people saying, "Why don't you stick to Greek myths?" the Amazons are part of Greek mythology, unlike Norse gods and Egyptian gods. This story was deleted and reposted here. Zoë Nightshade: This is the story of Zoë Nightshade. I don't recommend reading it right now because I have plans for it, but first, I need to redo it...a lot. To Shoot and Arrow in the Sky: Not the best story. It's about how Annabeth got the bead on her Camp Half-Blood necklace with a centaur in a dress on it shooting an arrow. This story was deleted and reposted here. No Softies in Cabin 5: This is the story of Clarisse's quest. This story was deleted. Camp Without Chiron: This is what went on while Chiron/Mr. Brunner was at Yancy Academy. This story was deleted and reposted here. The Hunters of Artemis vs. Camp Half-Blood: Remember in The Titan's Curse when it was mentioned that last time the hunters came to Camp Half-Blood, it didn't go so well? Here's the story. This story was deleted and reposted here. The Banes of Olympus Lead the Trail: This is definitely, by far, my worst story. If you want to see me go against every principle I have while writing or reviewing a fanfiction story, read this. It is the most Mary Sue, horrificly written, story that I have. This story was deleted and reposted here. Lure of the Sirens: I always wondered what it would be like to be a daughter of Dionysus, so I wrote a story about one. In You I Shall Trust: Formerly known as Gaia's Rage (named by formerly known as sonofdemeter), this was a story that I started with sonofdemete, not known as ChannySterling. He named it "Gaia's Rage" and that's pretty much all. I found myself writing the whole story except for some pathetic parts that I kept in because he insisted. I then, stopped writing it with him when I found out that not only was he...not the best writer, but he had a terrible temper for people who did pretty much nothing. If I had not switched to writing it by myself, the POV would be switched every few paragraph, Norse gods would be real, and for their quest, the main characters, Brian and Callie, would be flown in an airplane to Alaska where they would have already reserved rooms in a hotel thanks to Chiron. This story was deleted and reposted here. Sour Grapes: In this story about a daughter of Hestia, surprisingly, it is not going to be about a daughter of Hestia who goes out on a quest, blah, blah, blah and all of that although she does go on a "quest" and it may seem like that for the first part of the story. It is mainly about Dionysus and Hestia. In case you don't know the myth, long ago, Hestia gave up her throne on Olympus for Dionysus. In this story, she tries to get it back. I started this story when I got the idea of starting with a flashback or a dream. Then, it turned into a story about Hestia having Dionysus pretend her daughter was his because while reading all those stories about illegitimate half-blood children, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series included, I always wondered why the gods in trouble didn't pretend that the kid was another god's kid in the first place. As I got into it, I decided to not have her quest be right at the beginning of the story like most OC stories go so I could do what Rick Riordan didn't do in his books: tell more about life at Camp Half-Blood; you know, like a day at camp, what breakfast was like, what the problems a camper would come across were...things like that. All Rick Riordan described was Camp Half-Blood around the time of a camper going on a quest, around the time of a history changing war...etc. He showed us camp while something was different, but he didn't give us readers the "normal" to compare it with. What I also wanted to prove was that an OC daughter of a maiden/virgin goddess did not need to be good at fighting. She didn't need to be strong. She didn't need to have either loads of friends, or a few close friends either. In other words, an OC daughter of a maiden/virgin goddess does not need to be a Mary Sue. Memories Lost: When one of my best friends died of cancer, I realized that a lot of the things she had said to me throughout her life related to a half-blood's thoughts, so I decided to write a story about Nico di Angelo. This story is the story of his past. It is also a little bit philosophical. Nico, seeing his dead sister and mother so happy, much happier than they ever were during their lives, wonders what the point of staying alive is. Parting of the Styx: When I started fanfiction, I knowingly set myself aside from the majority of the PJO fandom writers by not being afraid to say that I liked the idea of daughter of Artemis stories. So I wrote some. They were absolute crap, so I deleted them. However, I still liked the idea of them, and wanted there to be at least one good one on the fandom. I knew people had been trying to write a good daughter of Artemis story for years - failing miserably - but like them, I wanted to have a shot. I started by making a mental list on the things people hated about daughter of Artemis fics. 1. Overused. I couldn't help that - obviously. (Even though when you think of it, there are only about 20 daughter/son of Artemis fics out there.) 2. Most (99.9999999 percent) of them are Mary Sue. (Definition: Mary Sue) What made most of them Mary Sue was that they were always going on some quest, that they were perfect, and that they had a bad past. I decided not to send my character, Catherine, on a quest, she would not be perfect, and she would not have a bad past. In fact, I had her have been raised in a loving family and have grown up knowing about being a demigod, Greek Mythology being real, etc. | |||||||||||
