Hi I'm Sarabi. I'm a college student- a poli sci major with Chinese and Spanish minors. I love good books, chocolate, lively discussion, history, languages, travel off the beaten path, and the great outdoors.

I never thought I would ever join and write for a community like fanfiction, but I have really enjoyed reading everyone's stories and they have inspired me to try writing a few of my own.

I read mostly and write exclusively in the Tamora Pierce fanfic world (but also dabble in some Firefly and Amelia Atwater Rhodes), as Tamora Pierce has been my favorite author since I was about 11. Since then I have spent a lot of time living and breathing Tortall and other fantasy worlds, and it is wonderful to meet others with whom I have this in common.

I especially like Song of the Lioness A/G, Protector of the Small K/D and Beka Cooper B/R. I tend to hold canon very high in my mind and I mostly dislike non-canon pairings and OOC characters, which is why I put off writing fanfic for a long time- I feel like I have to know a character to write about them and in that respect accurate fic is hard, because they are not my characters.

But I also REALLY love to read unique plots that work within canon to fill out the parts of the world the author neglects or scenes that could plausibly happen within canon from a different perspective. Paying attention to the stubs of characters and the interactions offpage is the best part of fanfiction, and our small contribution to making the author's world a vibrant and believable place.

A suggestion for any Tamora Pierce fic writer who needs any ideas: http://tpwords.wordpress.com/ This site is a GOLDMINE with just a WEALTH of information- stuff that I've never found anywhere else, and certainly not all together. A collection of TP's own words from interviews, chats, answers in her live journal etc in an organized format. Sources are also mostly verified. You can also add any info you received from TP (lucky people) or found someplace obscure on the web by sending it to the site's moderator (hero!). Like HP Lexicon, but for us TP fanatics. Until Tammy comes out with her companion, this is probably the most definitive we'll get.
