Web profiles aren't interesting after they've been up for too long and have lost their charm. This one didn't have charm to start.
Here's a breif description of me and my interests.
Home: British Columbia, Canada
School: University of British Columbia, Okanagan (not for long, hopefully)
Age: 18
Studying: Education, Languages, Linguistics, Visual Art
Writes: Romance, angst, inappropriate humor, BL/yaoi/shounen ai, PWP
Fandoms:
Shaman King: This was my first major fandom and it forever holds a special place in my heart. It's not for everybody, it's never been too popular (concidering the haste with which the manga was removed from the American Shounen Jump), but it is an absolutely brilliant series, not so much for the strange plot, but the multi-cultural, unique characters, settings and customs. I ship HoroRen, mostly, but I love most of the pairings. For the most part, the SK is great. Very open-minded, interesting writers, with no particular prevelance of a certain genre in the fanworks. Humor, AU, angst, gen, romance, coming-out stories, High School AU, etc. But a lot of times, there's a lot of failure on part of writers with their character portrayals . . . (eg. Horohoro = stupid, full stop. Also, do NOT use the name Horokeu or any alterations on it. He is Horohoro. He does NOT go by any other name.) I say this is from a lack of knowledge of the true series, by that I don't mean the anime (that they tried really hard on, they really did . . .) or worse, the American anime, wherein Horohoro is an Inuit and Ren has that atrocious accent in place of Lyserg, who is actually British . . . but whatever. Anything to keep this beautiful series alive in the hearts of fans more-or-less pleases me.
Pairings: Horohoro/Ren, Hao/Ren, Yoh/Anna, Lyserg/Jeanne
Death Note: Brilliant murder-mystery story that we fans have turned into something far deeper. Um. There are hardly any females in this series of any consequence, which on one hand I disapprove of, but it makes our job as yaoi fans a lot easier. I loved Light/L from the start for the whole "archnemesis" theme I love so much, and then Matt/Mello pretty much crawled up my leg and latched on for whatever reason (probably the absurd amount of doujinshis and other fanworks written for these two characters, who speak literally 17.5 words to each other, but are clearly in love!:). Yeah, DN is fun, and most of the fans are pretty smart.
Pairings: Light/L, Matt/Mello, L/Mello, one-sided Matsuda/Director Yagami
Naruto: Oh man. I loved Naruto from the start, but then pretty much gave up on it when it got to the anime filler . . . (over 100 eps of NOTHING? Seriously?!) and when it gained such a spectacularily HUGE fanbase in North America, I was pretty much standing on the outside looking in, with that sort of smugness of being on the inside once, and an air of "I knew it before you did!" And I pretty much boycott the whole freakin' English Naruto universe when they cut out that quintessential kiss scene in episode two. I was ABSURDLY ANGRY at that. But thanks to Shippuuden I've fallen completely and absolutely back in. I think I fell in love with SasuNaru when Sasuke proclaimed at the Chuunin Exams preliminary fights, "Naruto . . . I'd like to fight you," and that, more than anything, made Naruto so, so happy. Gorgeous. I never cared much for SasuNaru on the first run, but now I see their absolutely pulsing, furious, desperate love for eachother. And not love in the "hay, I think I has teh feelings 4 U!!1" sense, but something much, much deeper. And some absolutely brilliant writers on this site, Livejournal, and artists all around, have convinced awed and convinced me of this pairing's endless greatness. Iruka-sensei is my favourite character, and I love to see him uke it up, because he's so nice and deserves to be pampered, but KakaIru just doesn't seem to cut it for me. I don't mind it, but really, they don't seem to fit. Kakashi is too much of a lone wolf, and Iruka is pretty much married to his job. Anyway.
Pairings: Sasuke/Naruto, Naruto/Sasuke, Naruto/Sakura, Lee/Sakura, Shikamaru/Ino, others
Harry Potter: Yeah right. 49 percent, fail. It's a pretty great series, but in many ways it's not that great at all. I'm all caught up now in the fact that it's story is so close to Naruto's plot. (Alienated, parent-less young boys who both have great and damaging powers inside them, shunned until the age of 11-12, where they suddenly have friends and admirers, and begin to change the world. Then there's the team: Hermione and Sakura, the girls, who are just there to help their boys remember proper procedure or stop them from fighting each other; however, aside from their skepticism and tendancy to defect, Ron and Sasuke can hardly be compared. Voldemort and Orochimaru pretty much are the same person (the mutha-effin' snakes!), Hagrid is Iruka and Sirius is Kakashi. Yeah. Too much time on my hands? Yes.) And I like Harry/Draco because it's an absolutely terrible pairing that never ceases to piss me off. Pairings: Harry/Draco, Snape/Lily
Gundam SEED/Destiny: I sometimes drift back in here. (That "original" movie they promised us for summer 2008 is still happening, right?) GSEED is a beautiful fandom built on a more-or-less half-assed series. I love the DRAMA, the meaningless bursts of sexuality, and the fact that AsuKira was so painfully close to canon. Mostly, I just love Yzak for his sporadic outbursts and The Chairman for his hilarious twist on the genocidal megalomaniac.
Pairings: Dearka/Yzak, Gilbert/Rey, Dearka/Miriallia, Yzak/Fllay
Current Projects:
On the House - Death Note: An absurd romp in the underbelly of the Adult Entertainment industry, about which I know nothing, involving our favourite sluts from Wammy's House. It's a serious work, with sexuality and mystery and suspense and darkness, featuring the pairings Matt/Mello and Light/L.
Updates:
2008-03-15: Chapter 7 of On the House is up. Light's in the next chapter. After this one. Seriously. For Reals. In other news, NARUTO OMGFSJFKSDJFKLSDJFDSDKLFSJAAAAAHHHHHH! ITACHI! SHIPPUUDEN OP/ED! NO NEW MANGA THIS WEEK?! FILLERTIEMS?! ALSO I ORDERED DJS. Naruto has taken over my life.
