Guys, I made a site for my original work side project: TOUCHED It's like a mix between Mortal Instruments, Constantine and goodness. Please check it. It's just 10 chapters in, but I would really really love to hear feedback... Here's the summary to it: Current writing theme: The Perishers-My Heart I've been working on an original work. Keep in mind that it's still rough and probably have a lot of numerous mistakes including typos and grammar. I do have a beta reader, but currently she's traveling...somewhere and I really need opinions. Warning: I just blasted all the chapters and redid chapter one, added chapter five and fixed the POV on all of them. I realized as I was writing chapter five that I've thinking of the story in first person...yes, I'm a bit slow...I haven't been sleeping well...at least that's my excuse. Title: TOUCHED Summary: Leah Curran had always known that she was different. Not only did her her family members keep disappearing on her, she also saw things.. Granted, they're really not all that scary...but disturbing nonetheless. But her mother, who went missing when she was nine years old from a locked bedroom of all places, was clear on the Rules; 1. Don't attract attention. Stay low, keep cool and avoid any kind of attention. She did that easily enough for seven years...until summer break ended and a new boy came to town. Here's an excerpt straight from the PREFACE: I blinked. And the world blinked back at me. To my eyes, the sky was a whirl of black dust and gray smoke with linings of luminescent red. I imagined that that was how the sky should look…in hell. I was seventeen years old. I was supposed to be in school, bitching about quizzes and struggling to establish communication with the foreign entity called boys. I wasn’t supposed to be lying in a pool of my own blood, in the middle of the freakin' road, in the middle of the freakin' city, with a wide gaping wound on my side, all the while around me echoed the sounds of battle; the metallic clang of sword against sword, the wet, bloody sounds of horror and the screams of curses and prayers. Literally. I couldn’t breathe. The world shrunk before my eyes into words, actions and my own small, petty concerns and I wondered idly about the tangle of happenings that set meon this ageless war that started long before I was even born. Before my mother and my mother’s mother were even born. I gagged and felt something wet and hot welled up my mouth and tasted the acrid tang of blood as something equally wet and hot pulsed out of the wound in my stomach, wetting my fingers. A shadow loomed over me and I squinted to see whom it belonged to. Friend or foe, I wondered. I didn’t know which one to hope for. A friend would prolong my suffering, would cling to me even as the hurt got so bad that even thinking about moving hurt like the dickens. An enemy would prolong my suffering for the simple reason that I was an enemy. You couldn’t spare an enemy’s life, or give them a quick, merciful death. It wasn't civilized. Even now I lied to myself. I knew how I would choose. The problem was the choice wasn’t available. So, when I saw the glint of silver sword, saw the telling, subtle curve, I almost laughed for the sheer, twisted irony. When the sword’s owner stepped out of the smoke that curled and misted over streets, a gurgle climbed up my throat. “Of course,” I mumbled, amused resignation in my voice. “Of course it would be you.” When he stood over me, silent, still and waiting, I snapped. There, lying in water, blood, vomit, guts and whatever, amidst the sounds of battle, I laughed. And laughed and kept on laughing even as the sword cleaved the air, aiming straight and true at my heart... | |||||||||||
