Author has written 12 stories for Immortals, Tamora Pierce, and Harry Potter.

'Loten' is an Old English word, meaning moonlight bright enough to see by.

February 15th 2012: Next chapter of Chasing the Sun will be delayed, I've started work in a new job on rather short notice and I seem to have no free time suddenly. More detail in the next update, which should be in the next couple of days, I hope.

Favourite fandoms: Harry Potter, Tamora Pierce (Immortals), Trudi Canavan (Black Magician trilogy), Discworld, Wheel of Time.

Harry Potter: OTP: Snape/Hermione. The epilogue is just Snape hallucinating because he's poisoned and almost dead. It doesn't really happen.
Tamora Pierce:
OTP: Daine/Numair. My first obsession, and my first serious fics. I made a lot of friends.
Black Magician: OTP: Akkarin/Sonea. I find this fandom difficult to write for, but I'm determined to make the effort.
Discworld: OTP: Carrot/Angua. My first ever fanfiction was Discworld. Things got a little complicated. I'd like to write more someday.
Wheel of Time: OTP: Lan/Nynaeve. I find all the other characters immensely irritating, although some have improved.

Why yes, most of my ships do seem to involve very clever dark-haired, dark-eyed, black-robed, heroic and slightly sarcastic wizards paired with younger clever women. Strange that, isn't it? What can I say, I know what I like.

Random trivia: In Scandinavia, the days are all named for saints; April 30th is St Severus' Day and September 4th is St Hermione's day. This is absolutely awesome.

Disclaimer: I accept no responsibility for anything that occurs whilst reading my fics, including but not limited to sleep deprivation, funny looks incurred by involuntary loud noises, tasks not being completed whether academic, social or any other, and general insanity.

Keep an eye on the Works In Progress section for updates. Also known as the Attack of the Killer Plotbunnies section.

I'm famous on the internet
I have a deviantArt under the name Loten with a few bits and pieces on it, and one day I might actually start blogging there. I still play a few virtual pet sites - Neopets, Leopets, Misticpets and Subeta; if you play too and would like to know my usernames, message me on here. For the moment, this is the only place where I will be publishing fics; if one of my stories ends up somewhere else, please tell me. I have a Pottermore account, too.

About me: I'm 24, I'm female, I'm a Gemini, I live in south-east England and I graduated from a Welsh university in 2008 with a degree in zoology. I'm long-term unemployed and I'm currently wasting a very expensive education by happily writing fanfiction. Physical description, for anyone who cares: 5'4", long straight dark brown hair, glasses, blue-grey eyes. I have two of the three tattoos I eventually plan to get. I try not to take life too seriously and I'm nowhere near as complicated as I like to think I am. That's about it.

Please note: If you leave a review asking me a question, you must leave me a way to contact you, or I can't answer you. That means signing in, or leaving an email address. If you do the latter, you'll have to space it out, because FFN really doesn't like email addresses. I have absolutely no problem with anonymous reviews, but I can't reply to them unless you give me a way to get hold of you, okay? Thanks. You also now need private messaging enabled for me to reply to your reviews.

Fanfiction peeves: when authors start a story, manage two or three chapters, then abruptly disappear without explanation or put up an author's note saying that they won't be continuing the story. I will not do that. I will never upload the first chapter of a story unless I have a rough draft of the entire story already completed. I will never upload the first chapter of a story unless I am happy with the rough draft and confident that I can complete it to a standard I am satisfied with. The only things that would ever stop me completing a story are computer issues or real life issues. When uploading a story, I will do my best to update it every few days; once a week at the longest. I know how horrible it is to be left hanging for months waiting for an update.

Things I won't read under any circumstances: Firstly, pure crackfics. Trying that hard to be 'random' isn't funny. Secondly, mpreg - no. Just no. I don't have many limits, but that's definitely one of them. I'm not keen on incest, either, really. I also hate Twilight. I'm sorry if you like it, but I really can't stand it. I've read the first two books and could not physically make myself continue. Apart from that, anything goes, although I need a fic to at least be plausible - it doesn't have to be canon, but it needs to make sense and be theoretically possible in that world - before I'll read it. Especially pairings - weird pairings are fine, as long as they're theoretically possible and not out of character for those involved.

Things I won't write: I'm sorry to disappoint, but Severus and Hermione will never have children in any of my fics. I've seen it done well, but mostly it's done really badly and OOC, and it doesn't work with my personal versions of the characters. My Severus seriously and truly dislikes children and my Hermione isn't remotely interested in being a mother, and my Severus is too emotionally damaged for it to be a good idea anyway. Hermione understands him and can deal with him, but a child wouldn't be able to. If I can't make it believable in my own head, I know I can't write it. Other authors can and have, and good luck to them, but it's not going to happen in my writing.

Completed Works: (I promise, it's a coincidence that almost all my Immortals fics are eleven chapters long...)

upac has asked to translate Chasing The Sun into German.

Works in progress, a.k.a. Attack of the Killer Plotbunnies:

Harry Potter (all Harry Potter fics are SS/HG unless explicitly stated otherwise)
The Mark of Cain: AU post-DH EWE. After the war, Snape survives and is punished by the Ministry for his crimes, but the details are kept secret until Harry stumbles on the truth and asks Hermione for help. Quite dark in places. First draft almost finished, but it needs a lot of work.
Chasing the Sun: AU, from Order of the Phoenix onwards. Canon compliant until the end of Goblet of Fire. Hermione only wanted to learn Healing; she discovers that Professor Snape is a human being after all, and his actions dramatically shape the course of the war as events unfold. This is going to be another long one.
Seven: Dark AU post-DH EWE. Canon compliant until the final battle. The Boy Who Lived... didn't. Nor did most of the Order. Hogwarts has fallen. The few surviving members of the Order are still trying to fight, but it looks hopeless until they are contacted and realise that someone else is still fighting alongside them. Probably going to be quite dark.
Eternity Road: AU, post-DH EWE. Life has not been kind to Severus Snape. Once the war is over, he sets about changing that, and he doesn't intend letting anyone stop him. Lighter and fluffier/funnier than some of my other stories. TITLE IS GOING TO CHANGE WHEN I MAKE MY MIND UP.
The Winding Stair: AU post-DH EWE. The world is changing, and for two people there doesn't seem to be a place for them any more. Pushed aside by the new way of life within the Order, they decide to find another way to win the war. This one is proving difficult to ignore.
Foxfire: (working title). AU post-DH EWE. Bored and lonely in her post-war existence, Hermione finds solace watching the local urban wildlife, but she doesn't understand what she's seeing. I can say with complete confidence that this story has never been done before.
Gargoyle: AU post-DH, EWE. It's easy to be forgotten down in the deep cells under Azkaban, but sometimes life has a way of making sure that things aren't that simple. This promises to be quite a strange one; I'm not sure where it's going just yet.
I'm thinking of trying a few canon scenes from Snape's point of view, too, because he's awesome, and a few small Snape-centric missing scenes from the books as well, but I'm not sure about this yet and I won't be starting it until most of my other work is finished or at least much further on than it is now. Which at this rate is going to be in thirty years.

Tamora Pierce
Lacunae: A collection of one-shots and missing scenes from between the books of the Immortals series. This is never going to be truly finished; I'll keep adding to it whenever inspiration strikes.
Black and Gold: Some stories about Arram's time at university and how he arrived in Tortall and became Numair. This is a very long way down the priority list at the moment - I still think I'm going to beat Tammy to it, though! I have a few tentative notes, but that's it so far.
I also owe Zurpel a D/N oneshot of her choice and my undying love.

Trudi Canavan
Bitter Glass: The High Lord, rewritten from Akkarin's point of view. This needs a great deal of work. I had written about half of it, but looking back I don't like the writing and in some places I'm not happy with my grasp of his character. I have just started rewriting it; it's proving difficult, but I am slowly starting to get the hang of his personality. Title is only tentative.
The Sound of Silence: I want to try my own take on the 'what-if-Akkarin-didn't-die' theme that is so popular in this fandom; I've got some ideas for this, but I don't want to start it until the first story is finished. It's going to need a bit of work; I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet. Title is only tentative.

Wheel of Time
Nothing concrete yet, but I'm tentatively batting around a few ideas for short Lan-based pieces. Because Lan is cool and doesn't get the attention he deserves, and because there isn't much serious Wheel of Time fanfiction; it mainly seems to be parodies, OC-centric stories or self-insertion for some reason. This is probably just going to be a little side project, something I'll work on to get over writer's block or to stop me getting too bogged down in any of my very long intense fics from other series. Not sure where I'll be going with it. (Also, if Lan dies in the final book - which, given the ending of Towers of Midnight, seems all too likely - I am going to be VERY angry. Authors really need to stop killing off all my favourite characters.)
