Author has written 12 stories for Batman. Mutterings 27 OCT 2009 - I have given up reading that memoir by Jane Juska - "Unaccompanied Women" - it was starting to turn my stomach so I took all that bile and turned into a mildly disturbing short story about 2 women with parental issues. Funny isn't it that when we look at it that most of our problems stem from that dirty four letter word "L-O-V-E". I have instead found refuge in another hardback entitled "Super Number Crunchers" which I trust will be a better read on the train and if I tire of that, there is still that unread copy of "Secret Agent" by Jospeh Conrad. I have always wanted to read Conrad but never got around to it. 30 OCT 2009 - Happy Halloween. Halloween comes early in this part of the world. What I particularly like about this celebration is all the Halloween special issues the comics people come out with - DC Universe, House of Mystery (They had a special issue for Valentine's too which was great) etc etc - along with the candy and the merry making. I just caught the lastest issue of Gotham City Sirens #5 and i must say its one of those comics that keeps getting better and I find it refreshing that all the characters are playing against type - you have an articulate, resourceful Poison Ivy who has the best one liners in the series - you have a Catwoman who is protective, caring and almost maternal playing den mother to her girls and having to pay the bills - and you have a Harley Quinn who is her own woman and gives as good as she gets - no victim here - and there are no romantic entanglements and no men. I for one look forward to #6. On a personal note one of the most different things about writing fanfic for me is the lack of feedback - my stories simply do not inspire reviews - and the reviews I do get don't inspire stories. So I go on my own merry way in the dark - blind (if you will forgive the pun) as a bat. I don't write stories where the Joker beats the crap out of Harley Quinn and she lets him, because that I believe is against type. I also don't write stories where the Joker fucks HQ, because I believe that is also type - we all know that there is only space for one in that twisted heart and he wears a crowl - and I don't write straight Poison Ivy stories because as someone once said - is she seriously into guys like that? Maybe I should branch out and do House of Mystery instead, I like the fact that they kill off their regulars now and then. | |||||
